48-Hour Ban (A Short Rant)
After not playing for an entire day because of a 24-hour ban, the first disconnect I get coming back is a 48-hour ban? And you all still think these bans are not too strict? This is a rant. And I am done with the rant.

Requires longer period time to reduce it
1 -
Was it an internet problem? If not then that’s on you for DCing too much
5 -
I did not play for a whole day!
0 -
Yes. Internet/Hacker problem.
1 -
And it's 3 times a week I disconnect. I don't see how that's a lot.
0 -
Why should that mean that you the next penalty shouldn't be more severe?
3 -
TWO whole days? Because I went an entire day without playing, without disconnecting, without any penalties then my next day back your going to ban me twice as long even though I was good the entire previous day? I'm just frustrated, hence the rant. Sorry.
0 -
Going an entire day without disconnecting means nothing if the reason you didn't disconnect the previous day was because a 24-hour ban prevented you from playing at all the previous day.

I spent a lot of time, money and effort into this game and the characters but these bans are making me hate the game. I'm starting to see some of the "bad side" everybody's always talking about now.
0 -
Apparently not.
0 -
Lemme rephrase that:
Being banned for 24-hrs is not the same as not disconnecting for 24-hrs. You weren't being good; you were in time-out the whole time. You shouldn't get credit for not disconnecting because you couldn't play at all.
12 -
If you get ddossed, try to message support. If you have DC issues, try to spend money to fix that problem
1 -
Can I just create a new account? That way my bans will reset? I'd hate to lose all the money and character leveling up I've done in the game but right now I'm not even getting to play so it's pointless anyways.

No idea, I sometimes ragequit as a killer vs cheaters or teams, but my strongest ban is 30 minutes so far
0 -
Would that not result in punishment for ban evasion?
1 -
Why are you DCing so often in the first place?
7 -
How do I know the difference? Most of the time when I get disconnected it's when I'm the killer and getting ready to hook someone. Everything slows down and players are teleporting. That seems to me like hackers. But it also says my NAT settings are too strict. It's not a money issue. It's an unavailability issue.
1 -
All that money and effort could have been spent on getting yourself better internet lol
1 -
I've got the best internet in my area. Money is not an issue.
0 -
Would it?
0 -
Looks like DDOS. I got same problem once, right when I was hanging someone last time on the hook I got DCed. Sadly, BHVR support doesn't care much, so I stopped wasting time trying to prove that
0 -
Other option is VPN, though there you risk to lose your personal data, cause they collect it for selling
1 -
I've NEVER ragequit and that's what I don't get. The ban was put in place to protect against rage quitters and I'm the one getting punished for it because I get disconnected 3 times a week. 3 times, to me, is NOT a lot. Yet, because it happens on consecutive days or closely together the penalties add up fast and now i'm looking at 48 hours.
0 -
Nope. That is ban evasion. And if you get caught I believe you get perma-banned on that account
1 -
Yes.
Because DCs are an absolute plague in this game. A game where someone DCs, especially early on, is completely ruined.
It is unfortunate that you are having internet issues, but playing with internet issues that mean you DC enough (see: a LOT) to get a penalty that high isn't fair on the other 4 people you are paired with. They deserve games without someone DCing.
Fix your internet then come on back.
I'm pretty sure that you aren't getting a DC penalty that long for DCing 3 times in a week, unless they literally just tweaked the system to be far more aggressive or you have a lot of DCs in previous weeks.
Could it be that someone else is using your account?
1 -
Ugh, that is so frustrating! This is such a no win situation.
0 -
And the game's code is really cheap, I doubt anyone cares to check IP. I mean it can be not you, but your sister buying an account to play too, right?
0 -
Exactly.
0 -
I don't think its internet problem. I bet he DCs way less when plays survivor. Its a hack that survs use to keep their winning strike, they ddos killer and make them lose their game by "quitting"
0 -
I do know that making alt accounts to evade bans absolutely results in perma-bans. Whether that applies to DC penalties as well, I'm not sure. That said, there's no way it's worth making a new account just to dodge a two-day penalty.
1 -
Again, I don't think that you'll get a DC penalty that long for 3 DCs in a week.
I know that I've had periods where I'll DC around that number (inclement weather generally) and I've never seen a penalty longer than 5 minutes.
0 -
That's a real sad story!
0 -
To my experience, its around 3-4 DC that multiplies penalty. 5/15/30. Next would be an hour, probably. And its reduced by keeping connection to games stable for 2days+. If you pause a day, the penalty isn't reduced and keeps on growing if you dc around that period

What would you're estimation of "A LOT" be? Because I can go three days of the week playing survivor with no disconnects. The moment I start playing killer, I get disconnected once, twice, three times and the bans start adding up. Then another three days pass. I play killer again. BAM. Another three times. More bans. It adds up. You don't get enough time between those bans and you've got a 48 hour ban.

Yes. If you hard DC multiple times in a row, it's going to keep climbing. As it should.
Still - there is no way you got a 24/48 hour ban off 3 DCs. Not unless you DC'ed a ton last week and have zero games where you don't DC.
1 -
I started with a 15 minute ban. That went to an hour. That went to 6 hours. That went to 24 hours. And now I'm on 48 hours. I was wrong. 4 times I was disconnected, not counting this last time.

Yes, if you got 12 hours and the next day you dc again it can get higher. I'm not sure how exactly their penalty stacks, it is better to ask BHVR themselves, though not sure they respond.
Option take a break for a week or two and penalty should shorten. Probably.
Unless they shorten by you playing series of games without DC.
Check router, check cable, call your provider and talk to them about connection to the servers. It's not always great.

If I were you I wouldn't waste another ton of money to buy new game, personally. I bought this one on sale and still feel myself robbed due to killer game experience and survivor long lobbies, Chinese AI killers that allowed me crawl golden easily, etc

strange progression

AFAIK, you have to play games without DCing to get your penalty to decrease. That's how it works in most other games.
If you continue to DC, the penalty will keep climbing - because those are all 'ruined' games.
If this is a DDOS situation, that's unfortunate and you're going to have to get a VPN or a different IP. But I'm not sure if that's the case here.
1 -
I don't know. I just love this game and am not ready to give it up. I just needed a little rant to get that off my chest. I don't want to get into even more trouble for ban evasion but I'm practically addicted at this point and am not sure what to do without it. Guess you'll be seeing a lot more of me. Lucky you.
0 -
There might have been a 30 minute ban in there somewhere but yeah, it went up fast.
0 -
Play something else you are ridiculous if you get banned.
1 -
How am I ridiculous?
0 -
This may sound harsh - but the problem isn't the penalty.
The problem (and what you'll have to figure out) is what's causing your DCs.
If it's you quitting, then you need to stop.
If it's an internet issue then you need to fix it.
If it's a DDOS or someone else using your account, then that's an issue you'll need to get to the bottom of first.
To my knowledge, the only way to shrink your DC penalty is to play a lot of games without DCing.
1 -
Tis true.

This description sounds like hackers either inadvertently caused you to lag out or caused it purposely. If a dc is not your own fault then I agree there should be no penalty. Problem is though, as explained to me before, that bhvr has no real way to know the reason for any individual dc.

Consistently disconnecting every week up to 3-4 times is not a hacker problem. Unless you're going places on the internet where you dont need to be.
You could download something like malwarebytes and run a malware scan for malware and do an antivirus scan with normal antivirus scanner. Run it a few times at that because it may not always pick up everything the first time.
After a week or so of doing scans with no malware or viruses you should know that it's a problem specifically with your internet. You may have the best setup for your area but it may not be sufficient enough for online games. Especially since you said this is a consistent problem.
If you have issues with buffering videos on YouTube, watching Twitch, or your browser cant find websites then those all relate to specifically internet usage. There are a plethora of reasons why your internet may not be 100% functional.
Call your ISP and tell them what you use your internet for and that you're having issues using their internet. They will be able to tell you way more than us about problems with your internet.

Thank you for all the tips. I have no issues with any other online gaming or streaming, it's just this. I don't get it. Oh well, I really do appreciate the advice and I'm going to get to the bottom of this because I think next ban is either a week or two weeks and I just can't go that long.

If nothing works feel free to update this. You could probably even put in a support ticket (with Behavior) if you know it's not a virus problem or even a problem with your internet.
One other thing I can say to try is restarting your modem if you know where it is. So unplugging the power cord and cables, count to 30 and plug it all back in.
Your ISP will probably want you to do that anyway. So try that before calling them.
