My Thoughts On Dead By Daylight Recently

So hello again guys and this time I am back with another discussion, with that being my thoughts on this game recently, so that would mean I would be going over the good and the bad that has been happening to this game recently in my opinion, but ya with all of that out of the way lets begin.

Now my thoughts on the most recent patch is overall pretty good for a DBD update. There was some good stuff like the Plague and Trapper buffs, the Hex: Blood Favor buff, a huge addon overhaul, Hatch and key changes, addons now showing actual statistics like percent instead of saying something like moderately or tremendously, and a whole truck load of perk changes and bug fixes, so overall it was pretty good. Now something I was a bit iffy about was about all the Spirit changes and tbh not much changed which is good, but the thing that makes me iffy is how Spirit would compete with really strong teams, but overall I think Spirit's doing pretty fine. Now the one change that I wasn't a fan of even though this was one felt like it was gonna happen eventually is the Death Slinger nerfs, which in my opinion really hurt the potential of a lot more newer players trying him out because of how hard it kind of is to set up a shot, and not to mention the lack of mobility and map presence really, really hurts this guy at a high level scenario a lot more than it did before, which I found was a shame because personally, you might call me crazy, but to me I found Death Slinger really fun to go against because of the unpredictability and looming dread of whether or not he was gonna fire a shot or not, and dodging the shot felt really rewarding, but that's just me. So overall, I really thought that this was a very good DBD midchapter, and I wish the best of luck to Mclean and his future. (Also Spirit's chase theme is absolutely awesome).

So next I wanna talk about The Hour Of The Witch DLC, which I have very, very mixed opinions about. So first off, I think BHVR nailed it with the chapter's esthetics and also introduced a really cool character which was Micaela Reid, but what 2 perks it brought with it makes me very iffy. So first, I think Clairvoyance is just fine, I don't really see it get used much, but idk that perk just exist. Now the problem I have, however, is with the Boon totems, which in my opinion turned out really, really, badly. Boons with the game in this state really make playing killer a lot more stressful which I don't like and giving the killer another objective with the game in this state is one of the first choices I wouldn't have gone for. But overall, besides the Boon totems, I think this DLC is just fine.

Next I want to talk about the Stranger Things DLC removal which tbh ain't that huge of a deal, as long as you had the characters before the 17th of November you should be fine, but you wanna know what isn't fine? Very overpriced items. Due to my obsession with collecting exclusive items before they go and because of how spoiled I am, I was able to convince my parents, specifically my Dad, to buy the $100 12,500 Auric Cell pack for me, which my Dad did do, but it's just ridiculous of how over the top these prices are, but thankfully I was able to get all of the Stranger Thing's cosmetics, Cheryl, Quentin, Tap, Blight, Pyramid Head, Freddy, Amanda Young, and Pinhead. Now was it all worth it? tbh yes kind of because I can finally stop panicking about getting so and so this and so and so that, and I was glad I could get specifically Pinhead with Auric cells because I didn't want to give money to a character that was associated with NFT's, which is my next topic.

Ok so I just want to say that besides the whole NFT situation I think Pinhead is awesome and BHVR really did great justice to him, making him one of my favorite killers to play as and to go against for sure, and I am a huge fan of his perks, especially with Scourge Hook: Gift of Pain, and how cool and unique the idea is. Now I'm sure Pinhead could use a couple tweaks, but I think the DLC is just overall great. But the NFT's, why, WHY? If I didn't hear about the whole situation I would have got the whole DLC, but now I didn't want to get the whole DLC just because it would be giving money to a company selling something that could really mess up the environment. Now, I don't know whether or not this was BHVR's idea or the company they got the license from, but either way, it's pretty terrible that this whole situation happened in the first place. So overall, without mentioning NFT's, Pinhead is easily very awesome and unique, maybe even better than any Heckraiser film that came after the 2nd film, but with NFT's involved, this is one of the worst disservices I've seen to such an iconic character such as Pinhead, and since this NFT stuff could harm the environment, this makes this worse than the worst Heckraiser film.

Next I want to talk about the Midnight Grove event that happened recently, and looking at it now, it was actually really good for a Halloween event, especially with the whole Tome around it, unlocking free rewards and all that, but here I want to go on a little rant about some stuff, and that is about the amount of exclusives this game gets. Goodness, during the Tome I was looking forward to the most which was the Left 4 Dead one, I ended up taking a break because of how overwhelmed and annoyed I got with exclusives, like a lot of stuff that was in that tome like Bill's cosmetics, Left 4 Dead charms, etc. I've always been a person (Even though I collect a lot of exclusive and rare stuff in other video games and real life as well) to say that if something is for one, something is for all, which means that if one person gets an exclusive item, then every one should also have that item so that they don't feel left out by not having that item, like an exclusive cosmetic item or something like that. So overall, I really, really enjoyed the Halloween event, and I hope that maybe in the future they can really stop it with exclusive items.

Next I want to talk about how ridiculous the grind is in this game. A little over 2 weeks ago, My Dad bought me the Resident Evil DLC because I'm spoiled and I wanted to play as Nemesis because he seems fun to play, and I was super excited about leveling him up because I had over 1,300,000 BP I wanted to spend. But my goodness, is the grind ridiculous. My parents watched me grind Nemesis for 35-40 minutes while I tried to go very in depth to explaining his killer power to them while I was grinding during that timeframe, BUT I DIDN'T EVEN MAKE IT TO LEVEL 50. I made it to at least either to level 47-48, and I was so close too, but holy moly that whole process felt like 24 hours. So I really hope they do something to fix this grind, because if something like this happens happens again, I don't even want to imagine how long it would take, so ya.

Next I want to talk about a very real situation that is no laughing matter at all, but It's about Streamers getting Doxed and there are very few which actually got swatted, which is just sad to think about. But one thing that really makes me a bit mad is that it took BHVR a week to respond to this which is not good for any company to be slow to as such a dangerous situation as this one right now. And to note that this is a very real situation and BHVR aren't quick to this situation gives me a major concern. Now I'm sure that BHVR are probably working on this situation right now but this should have been dealt with over a week ago, but that's all I have to say about that situation for now.

Now I want talk about the Chapter 22 PTB, which is the Portrait of a Murder chapter, and my oh my, this chapter is probably one of the best original chapters yet. First, you got a really interesting and unique killer that's strong which is the Artist, with her perks being very good, especially her scourge Hook perk which is Pain Resonance, and I also really like the uniqueness of the perk Hex: pentimento, but I have a feeling that very rarely you would be able to make it to 5,4, or even 3 totems. Next I want to talk about survivor of this chapter which is Jonah Vasquez, which I think has one meh perk which is the skill check team mate one, he has a good-great perk which kind of worries me which is a perk that makes your sprint last 2 seconds longer, which could really hurt killers like Trickster and all that, and finally, he has totem unbreakable, which discourages slugging which is fine, but it adds another objective to killer which is just terrible with the game in this state. Next I want to go over the new map which is the Eyrie Of Crows map, which looks absolutely great, but other than that it has the same old loops besides the cool looking main building which could be a pain to deal with as killer, but my goodness, this chapter is really well-done, but my opinion could change when it hits live release.

Finally, I now want to talk about a huge issue with this game right now which is the MMR. Recently, even though I'm more of a lower level player than a High level player, I'm starting to see a lot more matches where I get pared with Red Rank/Grade (Idk what it's called at this point) players and a lot more stressful matches, and above all that, the amount of DBD videos on my YouTube recommended that has to do with survivor and killer toxicity, hackers, and all that has been off the charts whenever this new MMR got implemented. And even before that, I felt like I was having more chill games with the old MMR and Ranks before this new MMR and Grades got implemented. So if you were to tell me if I wanted MMR or Skill Based match making (Whatever it's called) in the game in this state, I would definitely say no.

So overall, I have been very concerned with the health of the game recently, and I really hope something gets done about this stuff in the future. But ya I think that's all I have to say.

I agree with a lot of things here, the main ones that I don't agree with are the exclusivity of items and the store prices and I'll explain why.

Item exclusivity is usually because something happened during a set period of time that you missed or for whatever reason weren't able to play during. The reward for players being present playing the game is that item. Is isn't fair in my opinion to give a reward to people who didn't do something to earn it while others worked their asses off and spent some hours earning it. This is why I was so opposed to releasing all of the previous event exclusive items like David's Untamed Donkey Jacket from the Lunar Year event and Kate's shirt and Billy's hammer from the Scorching Summer BBQ event. I spent time to earn that like many others and it feels like a slap in the face to see it just handed out. *Disclaimer: Yes I am aware I had it way before some people and that should be my reward but that isn't how I see things*

The second thing with the store prices. BHVR is a company. They aim to make money like any other company and they do a decent amount of that through their store (seeing as how you can't buy bloodpoints and never should be able to). These prices can be high at times, which is why I don't usually buy outfits. The way you protest prices is by not buying the item so you don't really help by contributing to the sales. Just simply avoid the cosmetics. You say it is an obsession to collect the outfits and that you convinced your dad to drop 100$ on auric cells just so you could get them which by doing so counteracted the whole argument. I'm assuming you are younger judging by how your parents bought it, but something you have to realize with any type of collection/obsession is whether you can financially support it. Judging by the amount of money spent and who had to spend it I think it might be time to cut back (though I can't tell you how to spend money, just a recommendation.) You already admitted that prices are too high for you (and you definitely aren't alone mate), so remember that the next time you want to buy an outfit and hold off. You will probably get a sale eventually.

@Crazewtboy Ya your really right about me holding off on a lot of stuff, but it's not just DBD I have this with, it's even with other games like Team Fortress 2, and even in real life as well as I am a huge Godzilla toy collector, but it's just so hard not to buy an item because of how cool it looks. But ya I do agree with you that I need to really slowdown on a lot of things, so I'm sorry about all that.

It's not me you have to apologize to mate. I was just pointing out how it contradicted your argument and making a recommendation. If you really wanted to apologize, it was your father who spent the 100$. Admitting that you have a problem with collection is the first part, so with enough determination you can definitely cut back. I had the same problem with a few other games but when I started running low on money before I got my paycheck I realized it was time to stop. Happens to the best of us.

At the end of the day, I just like collecting.
