BHVR has been nothing but disappointment after disappointment since mid-2019 and it is seemingly endless.
It is extremely hard to believe that we are talking about the same company that, from 2016 to early-2019, did an excellent work with DBD.
It is really hard to believe. One does not simply unlearn the correct path...right?

Early 2019. Around the time of the roadmap and some big talk about 60 frames minimum for all platforms. That one issue comletely ignored ever since is what really boils my bunions.

Have you seen the list of changelogs every single patch? There is only so much time one person can spend on fixing bugs and there is only so many people working at BHVR who can fix bugs. Demanding all bugs to be fixed is practically impossible.
There are only a handful of glitches and gamebreaking bugs in the game right now, and those were introduced with the latest patch.
It's like people not being aware that Stab Wounds Study was changed from 3-5 seconds. It wasnt mentioned in the patch notes, but it was in the changelogs.

It's a multi-million dollar company with 800 employees. It took them a year to raise Blight's eye-level to normal.

At the very least, back in early-2019, they somewhat interested in making that a reality. It is around the middle of the year that things will start going downhill.

You realize that bhvr is the biggest game developer in Canada right?
And that it took them five years to come up with a change to trapper a character that's been in the game since it launched and that change was changing the number of traps he carries at the start from 1 to 2

You're assuming all 800 of them work on DBD, which obviously isnt the case. They created 3 seperate games in the meantime and helped/mainly created 5 games for other companies.
BHVR is mainly an outsourcing company. While DBD is their flagship game, the vast majority of the company has been set-up and created around being outsourced.
I do agree they could easily hire more people. Other companies with similar income tend to have about 2000 employees, where BHVR has only grown from 600-800 employees in the past 6 years.
Thing is, people here are blaming the developers, when it's the board of admission who is in charge of hiring more people. Dont blame the devs, blame the board of admission.

Let alone that BHVR is an outsourcing company. The crew working on DBD actively is relatively small compared to the whole team.
As for increasing Trapper's traps from 1 to 2, you'd be surprised that that kind of change wasnt really needed for the majority of the time. It's the recent reworks of maps where Traps are more easily spotted that it truly became a necessity. Before, you could simply hide a trap in grass and you'd be quite certain it would catch a survivor off-guard and never needed to go back and reset it.
Just because a change became necessary recently doesnt mean it should have been implemented years ago.

Honestly their best is not nearly good enough. Good moves from BHVR are few and far between patches, and they always have more bad than good.

Please man, you werent there for most of that time. Didnt you only join late 2018?
They for the most part havent really changed, the only things that they did a bit better back then is listen more to the community, and wanna know what A LOT of people were saying? To stop doing events and to fix their game, and thats exactly what they did.
Were those events cool? Absolutely, Howling Grounds and Scorching Summer BBQ werent much but they were still alright, Hallowed Blight was the best event this game has seen and the effort put into it seems to be more than an entire chapter, Winter Solstice 2018 was also very festive, but didnt offer much gameplay. And then Moonrise comes in at a close second for events, right behind Hallowed Blight.
The thing with this tho, is the game was even worst in terms of balance than it is now, and a good chunk of people just wanted a more balanced game, so what did they do? Cut back on events to focus more on balancing the game.
And that leads us all the way to today, the game balance wise is the best its ever been, we just got probably one of the best patches we've ever got in the history of DbD with numerous balance changes for multiple killers and perks. This game has only gotten better, its the community thats only gotten worst

Look at Dota, there is new hero like once a year and noone cares, because the game works and is well balanced.

This. Right here. I am so tired of seeing people so quick to give BHVR a pass. If they really arent the ones in charge of fixing the game, if they cant address the following issues due to a higher up's instruction, then redirect this rant to whomever is in charge. People have been getting DDoSed for about a month, probably more now, and it's been absolute radio silence, other than a throwaway article in a blog no one has ever read. then there are hackers galore, especially in the higher mmr games (not that i have experienced it because im not that good, but there's too much evidence to ignore). And now, not to mention the numerous bugs in the game (ex: still a glitch in dead dawg saloon, where survivors can hijack the game by waiting on the cart near the gallows that a non-ranged killer cant reach or access. thus, they cant be killed, but they also wont do gens, so the game cant progress).
fix the game-breaking problems and people will be happy. and if people are happy, they will spend money, which is apparently their end goal. it's not rocket science.

Because the devs couldn't care less since it means they make more money. They do minimum effort to ensure that enough people are temporarily satisfied to continue playing the game and buying the cosmetics. As long as it doesn't directly effect their money, don't honestly don't care. Just look at how quick they'll address a simple bug on cosmetics, but won't address game bugs that players have been telling them about for months.

Against DDoS just use Hex : VPN. There's no other feeling joyful and hateful at the same time, as recovering from heavy lag and freeze just to continue the trial.
As for Dead Dwag Saloon, survivors using that glitch are more rare than Deathslinger after the nerf. Plus I figured out how to get there and make them cry.

I am being realistic. I got taught the hard way to get off my ass and work, and these devs are gonna learn that way too or else they are going to lose everything. It's not fair that on our time off, we have to deal with a ######### game when it's got such a golden formula.

Yes, I joined in late 2018, but I know the history of my favorite game. I took the time to learn about everything that has happened in DBD prior to my arrival in the Fog. Heck, one of my former teammates once said I knew more about the game than he did, and he joined around Hag's release.
My friend...please don't take this the wrong way, but it is obvious that most of the complaints back then were focused on balance, because that was the only thing left to fix. Was the balance worse? Yes, without a doubt. But everything else was on its place! The game had a better aesthetic, better visuals, cool Offerings, more interesting powers, and this list goes on. The balance itself was the only thing they hadn't adjusted yet, so people would obviously be vocal about it.
And now...Now we have a game that doesn't do anything right, with a slightly better balance. Imagine that you have a product that must be perfect in order to be released. And everything about it is indeed perfect, except for a small detail. In order to fix that small detail, you ruin everything else. Now that small detail is acceptable, but everything else isn't. That is current DBD. And heck, with this Boon Totems, that small detail might have been ruined too!
DBD hasn't gotten better, my friend, it got WAY worse. There is a reason why most people here think that way.

Balance was only one of many, MANY issues that plagued this game back
From P2P, to the endless amount of bugs that were even more than game breaking, easy to access cheats (seriously, you played Old DbD, installing a save file on there is all you had to do if you wanted to get more progress) no DC penalty, even worst performance issues and the list goes on and on. The games past is only glorified by those who haven't truly experienced it and there is no doubt in my mind that if it stayed the way it once was it would be completely dead today.
Take it from some one who's been there during those times, the state of the game was MUCH worst.

My friend...out of everything you mentioned only one of them is not here anymore.
We still have a huge amount of bugs (which included one or two sightings of the Loss of Progress glitch from back in the day), cheaters and hackers are at an all-time high and you know it, performance on consoles has never been worse (and I've spoken to people who assured me the old maps were better on console), a DC penalty that doesn't work properly and it is constantly disabled, and this list goes on and on.
I am not glorifying things, my friend. You know from my Freddy suggestion that I am usually open for discussions and small adjustments.
But calling current DBD better than Old DBD? That is just unrealistic.

Cheaters actually arent at an all time high, there were multiple instances of there being a surge of cheaters, late 2017 - early 2018 was its worst because you didnt even need to install anything, there were numerous tutorials on how to do this and it took 5 minutes to do.
Performance was just as bad if not worst, I remember good ol' Shelter Woods being a HUGE culprit
Again, take it from some one whos been there and 1/3 of my hours is still spent during that time, there are definitely changes that I dont like in todays version, but there are more things that Im glad are left behind

There were indeed a few surge of cheaters in the past, but the one we are currently seeing might as well be just as bad. Look at the sheer amount people complaining about hackers, not to mention some people were genuinely scared of playing the game because of DDOS and other things that could really mess with your platform of choice.
As for performance, it always had its problems, but nowhere near as bad as it currently is. For example, here on the Forums actually, someone explained to me about Gas Heaven and how it causes problems on console, while its old version did not. Just a quick search on performance issues are related to present-day DBD (from 12 results that I got, only one was from the past). And if Shelter Woods was a huge culprit in the past, it certainly still is.
My friend, take it from someone who has a bigger interest in Old DBD than anyone else's: you should think the absolute opposite, tbh. The amount of things you dislike in the current version should vastly outnumber the amount of things you are glad were left behind.

To compare what youre trying to tell me, is like me telling you that skiing is the best sport ever, but I never even went skiing, just watched it.
Cheaters have been way worst in the past, again because of how damn easy it was to do so. I dont know if the videos are still out there but it was basically just changing a number and all of a sudden you would become a speed demon.
Just because you have an interest in Old DbD just shows that you, like many others, are attracted to things you cant get/experience. Its like Legacy, people want it for its exclusivity, a small portion may want it for looks and some may claim its for looks how ever thats like a stretched res player saying they do it just because it looks nicer, its a lie. This was shown with the code exclusives, people wanted these cosmetics and the moment they got released to the public they seemingly became more rare than they were before.
Also the only reason why performance issues are mainly shown to be recent is because this forum was only created in Summer 2018. Take a look back on the Steam Forums and have a look for yourself, I still remember console players and myself because I didnt have a strong PC, complaining about The Doctor or Redforest, or hell the 2 combined. Would literally reach 10 fps at some points with those 2 combined, there were a few other maps with terrible performance, Shelter Woods being the biggest culprit, and the majority of Autohavens as well. Also remember Hag being unplayable on console and lower end PC's because every time she teleported the game would freeze for a bit. DbD was notorious at first with poor optimization, still is, and just recently is it starting to become terrible again.

Tbh they haven't really dont anything to be nice for. They keep the most bs bugs in the game until a patch but patch out some small thing in 2 seconds. If you still don't believe me.... they banned for infinite mend legion but didnt ban for the breakdown bug because "you could still end the game without hooking".... If you look at that you can see they're just being ridiculous cause you could still end the game with infinite mend.

Well, the original person commented about them being the biggest canadian company. So not necessarily exclusive in Canada, but from Canadian origin. Otherwise its not exactly a canadian company, but a company that has a canadian branch.
