New portraits of survivors
I apologize in advance for the negative reaction, but I can no longer be silent. What is this?
Seriously developers, why? You had excellent portraits, well-established appearance of the characters, no one asked them to change. But you took it and made it worse. But why? Previously, all portraits were in the same style, now it's like unsuccessful screenshots of free models from the unity engine. Is there anyone here who thinks Dwight's new portrait and appearance is better than the old one? It's just funny and sad at the same time.

Dwight looks like he's wearing an opossum for hair.

I totally agree with you, but I'll never understand why people say "no one asked for this as an argument." Like do people actually think the developers of a game are going to ask permission from the community to make changes or is it just to make people feel better and like they have some control over the game?

I prefer new Dwight icon. He doesn't look like he's on drugs anymore.

I'm somebody who welcomes change and doesn't dwell in the past, pretending that nostalgia is an objective view of what's good or bad.
... that said, these are rough.

Kate's is really awful.

I actually like the new Meg portrait

If I was stuck in the fog I would want drugs.

In order to change something in the game, you need to allocate certain resources - money and time for the work of artists, programmers, and so on. When people wonder why the developers changed something that previously worked, they don't understand this very aspect - why waste resources on something that was not a problem. Especially when the new result is worse than the old one.

Dwights head looks like its 3 feet away from his body.

The Meg portrait is decent. It's not gone too far from the original design, amd updates the profile whilst maintaining the main features from her old portrait.
Dwight looks like the compromise between his old version and Mathieu Coté wanting Dwight to be him, and was left as is after a heated argument. Not good.

Dwight looks way less adorable and I hate it. He needed the smudges under his eyes for his characteristic nervous look. Now he just looks confused. Not like my Dweety-boy at all.
And Laurie looks horrible on my PC. Like Kate, she's way too high contrast and the hair is a colossal mess, but there's something terribly wrong with her eyes too.
I like new-new David, though. And new Meg doesn't bother me - like Nea, the change is unobtrusive to me.

I miss scared Dwight.

I'm now a FORMER Dwight main.
They have absolutely ruined his aesthetic and cuteness with the remodel.
I'll still play as him but nowhere near as much now, I'm pissed tbh.

I just see this with Meg and Kate now.

There's definitely a few people who asked for this, me being one of them, since the survivors reworks and wanted their portraits to match their new faces.

I take it as written that whoever did the original portraits either doesn't work there anymore, or they don't want to pay that person to make a whole new set. Fine. But if you decide to do it over again, why not try to make it cool? Set up some nice lighting, have the character make an expression, do a good render. The characters always look way cooler in the trailers than in the game -- why not make the portraits look like that?
Why take a screenshot of the model in a neutral pose with their mouth open? Why apply an emboss filter? Why give it an ugly background?
All I see when I look at this is, "Here's a task no one had time to do; now it's done."

Dwight’s is hideous

So... what did they look like before? I didn't really pay attention and can't remember.

Meg looks like she’s wearing a pippi longstocking wig now.
