Just got a teammate who "...didnt know how to run" is mmr broken
So i pallet saved a teammate on midwich.. the Dwight preceded to walk away. and get downed right after. how is is that im getting matched with teammates who have less than an hour in game.

I've gotten several wet-behind-the-ears players lately. Tonight I had an Artist game where I let everyone go because the alternative was way too cruel - I had six hooks and nobody had even touched a gen. Like, I hooked several people on scourge hooks and no gens ever blew up, and BBQ showed several people roaming around in weird places like the basement or the mineshaft in Suffo Pit. Ended up bringing a Dwight over to a gen and hitting it and nodding, then setting him back on his feet and leaving. I brought several people to my hex totem and couldn't get them to cleanse it, but the Dwight remained my friend. Sure enough, three players had just one perk; the last one had four green perks, but they were all default character perks.
There was another game earlier today that was four super new players. And I've encountered a few scattered one or no perk players throughout the day. They all had the console mark but some of them spoke in endgame chat. I think it's an influx of Epic Games Store players.

true since epic games version is free currently i wouldnt be surprised if there is alot of smaller kids playin dbd rn since its free

I have seen some really sad stuff recently, too many instances like in the OP to mention. Lots of players on both sides who clearly have zero idea what they are doing, and are in matches with players with 1K+ hours.
A lot of either getting whomped or babysitting, and not a lot in the middle.

If MMR is not broken. what is making me get these players? mabye they need to idk. change how MMR is changed

Damn. For me It is usually ok during the day when it comes to teammates but gets weird at night (eu). I usually avoid playing surv at night unless I really feel like it.
But I still think it doesn't work right and a lot of new players reported being matched with experienced players.

Wait, a matchmaking system in DBD is terrible at actually putting people of similar skill levels together?

In all seriousness though, the only reason the front page isn't littered with these complaints any more is because they hid our MMR which is, I'm guessing, the only goal behind SBMM. Can't have negative publicity about how terrible your games rank balancing is if nobody can show a screenshot to prove it.

MMR can't be a binary as Kill vs. Escape and be at all effective, but that's what it is at the moment.

It is actually easy to prove it. At least on console. I can play dbd on different accounts where I never played before and see if I am matched with experienced players from the get go.
But I already saw it with my own eyes when I afk'ed as killer on my survivor account (where I never play killer) and went against purple perked survivors three games in a row.
They could have been tanking their mmr to bully new killers but few times in a row getting those people? Don't buy it tbh. And considering how many people report sbmm being weird I don't find it hard to believe.

No, it's easy to see that it is, it's difficult to prove that it is.
The second you want to argue that MMR is terrible you get a hoarde of white knights busting out ######### like 'oh you're probably just not as high as you think you are,' 'it just takes a while to settle.'
Since ranks are gone there's no definitive way to show in an image or video that there's a distinct difference between the players in a match.

My experience as survivor is better than before sbmm but I am still not denying what others say and I even tested it myself.
But yeah, you are right. A lot of people will probably attack someone like op. It happened to me too when they tested the mmr and I had bad experience. They said I was bad and I am right where I belong.
Funny that I see some of the same people crying how bad their teammates are now and sbmm is not working for them. They are not even consistent when something doesn't benefit them.

The matchmaking throws out MMR in favor of faster queues so those survivors were waiting a long time for a game

I won't lie and act like im some great experienced player, but im definitely out of being a NEW beginner player ( like with less than 100 hours but honestly a lot under 30.)I won't pretend I'm a high level of mmr or that im somehow great at the game. Lately however I've been getting paired with survivors that have very little hours and are new to the game despite playing decently well and escaping a bunch. It just seems weird to me that I seem to just get worse teammates the more I do well though.

Yeah I want old rank system back. It encouraged interesting and altruistic gameplay. This mmr which is just escape( even if you did jack sh!t all game and just got lucky) and kills( even if you camped/tunneled) the game increases your hidden mmr. Grades which everyone thinks is your rank means nothing just amount played since you can’t go a grade down.
I used to like getting back to that r 1 and trying to maintain it.

MMR is garbage and you will see more of these players with epic games offering dbd for free

Can be to do with queue times.
When no one is queueing it grabs whoever is in the queue longest regardless of "rank" Plenty of newbie killers get thrown into red ranks swfs just because no red rank killers are playing.

SBMM will match you with anyone if your wait is "long", add that with it only caring about kills/escapes and its basically rainbow rank matchmaking on purpose - we just can't see mmr and prove it.
