Why is the Feng pyjama set linked?
Outfits are linked for either licensing reasons or clipping issues. And okay, I can understand both of those things - you can't put Scorched Ghostface's mask on his regular body, or a Legion mask on their bunny body. And if Capcom insists there's no mixing and matching on the RE characters, then what can you do.
But then there's this.
This image isn't mine; found it on Reddit. But it raises a very good point. The shape of Feng's pyjama top and bottoms are nearly identical to two non-linked outfits that can be mixed freely, and hair and headband pieces never clip period. So why is this a set? What is the official reason for this?
There are other linked outfits which seem to have no reason to be linked - Felix's long-haired set, Yun-Jin's socialite outfit.
The community has overwhelmingly voiced its dislike for linked outfits and I can't imagine that outfit sales don't reflect this. So why is this happening?

Linked outfit made sense on licensed characters or outfit that needed more than one spot to work. Im guessing this outfit is linked because of something they coudnt fix.

I think they have said in the latest Q&A they are looking into unlinking specific sets and this may be something they will only do at a certain point and this one might have been already finished as a set.
also I am pretty sure I have seen that Feng top having many clipping issues.. though they certainly can’t go back on cosmetic pieces and make them sets when they previously weren’t.

oh yeah the microtransactions, the finger thing means the microtransactions

Linked sets shouldn't even be a thing for original characters (except things like Minotaur Oni and Mordeo Huntress). Clipping issues are laughable because Feng has a LOT of skins that clip through each other.

Because Money, I guess.
It's a shame that this is a set, too. Different pieces from this cosmetic could go well with some of Feng's other cosmetics.

I wish this wasn't a set..
The pyjamas would have matched so well with the bunny hat! 😣

I doubt that. People buying 1-2 pieces is better than not buying it at all

I simply am not going to buy Feng's set piece. You can simply boycot unlicensed set outfits. I too very much dislike set pieces, takes freedom of mixing and matching.

money. thats it

Not buying it. Not a fan of linked cosmectics.

just feng's sadly.

I don't use Feng but yes that is sad for Feng players. I am still pissed they linked my Yun-Jin and Elodie.

Why the exception for Oni? Minotaur head on Demons End body is the most metal thing in DbD

Clipping is the absolute weakest excuse for linked sets when you can literally use non linked cosmetic pieces together and cause it to look like this:
For headpieces too since to this day they refuse to unlink Kate's flowercrown and Yunjin's ponytail
It's just pure greed.

It's linked because of the top extending past her waist.
Her other cardigan isn't a good excuse or comparison because it was released with her back when the store didn't even exist yet. So clipping was hardly an issue.

Yun-Jin's hair clips pretty badly though. Especially when used with her fur coats.

I think it's a pretty good comparison. First off, there's characters with even longer tops as unlinked set pieces, and I'm also not aware of any major clippage with the previous Feng top. Eyeballing Feng's store page, there's probably an issue with the Ruffled Fishtail bottoms from her Blight outfit, but everything else is fine. But then, the fact that there's an unclipped top in the same shape means you're not introducing any more clipping than already exists in this game. (Also, the Ruffled Fishtail clips with her default top and most other tops besides. The cardigan is not the problem area here.)
Clipping in general isn't a very big issue - at least, not until you get things like incongruous body mods and stick human Trapper's head on Krampus Trapper's body. Or Jeryl. For outfits... things not meshing well with each other isn't much different than two pieces looking hideous together due to color or style clash. When it's not a matter of things like floating torsos and missing heads, I would rather leave it to user discretion than have something linked because there's this one pair of unlinked pants that clips through a top, if it comes down to that.

cause minotaur is a different character.

I thought its because of the long shirt that drops down to the legs part. But not, Adam's default outfit has similar thing. So I guess the only reason they link set is..you know it.

More money.

Yep. They want more money. Unfortunately, I’m gonna skip this outfit. Would’ve definitely bought the top and bottoms if they were separate pieces.

I would get Kate head with beach hat too, if it wasnt linked.
2 -
I like the dress but not the head. We are both unlucky lol.

Linked sets make sence on Legendary / Ultra Rare cosmetics (because they are different characters) or Licensed things if in need.
However I don't get this either. Why this is linked but some other pyjamas are not, etc. Just really strange practic that is also not somewhere well explained and I don't belive that some linked outfits couldn't be a regular 3 pieces.

The only thing I can come up with is they're too lazy to make the skin compatible with other cosmetics. You see how the Krampus trapper body doesn't actually go up to his neck, it stops around his chest and shoulders. So if someone glitched a normal mask he'll have a void in between his head and chest.

Honestly i dont care. She gets too many skins anyway

I really wish the devs would answer these questions. It's so annoying they just remain silent. Other devs are so transparent about this stuff like the vhs devs, are so friendly when asking about cosmetic stuff. The feng pajamas definitely should not be a set! Mandy It would be really nice of you to give the community an answer, and ask everyone at bhvr to be more consistent with what qualifies as a set it feels super random at this point.
