You need to open the game on the Epic Launcher at least once and then link the accounts.

Switch doesn't have Cross Progression I'm afraid.

Just don't do it. There is absolutely no benefit right now linking accounts.
But if you linked it already never ever try to unlink them. Just a friendly warning.

i got all the advent calendar rewards twice because I linked my Steam and Epic accounts. Wdym there is no benefit? Also if there is ever a problem with one platform you can access your account with all purchases and progress from another platform.
and with the friendly warning you could also just state the fact that after unlinking the unlinked account will lose any progress gained while it was linked. It’s not a secret.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/kb/articles/305-f-a-q-cross-progression all the information with regards to cross progression and what happens when you unlink accounts etc is here. There are also warnings when you try to unlink the account (in the form of a pop-up), to remind you.

Thanks I've seen the warnings. Although it makes no sense to lose your progress just because you unlinked it, I accepted it. But while I unlink there was an error and I lost all my progression, like all time purchases level everything you can think of. So no thanks, even I knew I would get triple calendar rewards I would never link ever again.

Question is… why even unlink in the first place?
also there have been incidents of people losing all their progress (and receiving millions of BP as compensation) without it being related to the BHVR account. And I at least hope that they have a better account save structure for their BHVR account to minimize the chance of that happening (but I guess we can’t really be sure either way)
