Early DC's.
Now, I don't want to sound too radical here.
But can we double the DC penalty if it happens immediately after/around your first down?
I literally can't have a single good Trickster game, because someone with commitment issues immediately decides to peace out and I have to let all the others go or else I feel bad.
I just want to go brr.

How do you know they left? What if it was a power outage or game crash? Either way, the DC penalty should never go past 5 minutes anyway. If someone doesn't want to continue a match they shouldn't have to without fear of a stacking penalty.

I'm not condoning a DC either, but against trickster, I don't mind dying on first hook
7 -
They don't have enough players to do that brochski.

thats a 10 min ban at most and if asking you to play the match you queued for is too much to ask I think its time to find another game.
3 -
I'm sorry, but no. Sometimes you get disconnected for reasons that are out of your control.

Boy golly is there a lot of convenient crashes and power outages when people go down for the first time.

Just stop playing Trickster, bro.

I think thats probably what a lot of people who do d/c in matches they deem unfun to play eventually do. You don't get any points or experience if you do d/c which means you won't be able to get blood web items and perks to progress your character. I'm of the opinion that most d/cs would stop if killers didn't camp or tunnel. Also hitting survivors on the hook over and over has to go too.

While its true that a lot of people DC when killer camp/tunnel, DC'ing only increase tunneling and camping. Slaping on hook is unnessary and toxic BM but there's just no way to remove it. This game tends to get frustrating but if it gets to the point that staying in a match you queued is too much to ask, its time to switch games.

I agree.
The DC penalty in this game is...way too soft. At least 1 in 5 games has someone DC on first down/before first hook so evidently people don't really care about the penalty.
The hardest part of doing an Adept for me is still getting a group that won't just DC.
Because it happens incredibly frequently when you down someone for the first time or when you try to hook them, especially when you are playing specific killers (Doctor, Trickster, Bubba, Cenobite). I'm sure other killers will back me up here.
I never camp unless it's EOGC. I'll tunnel, sure - but only to the extent of 'do I chase the guy with 2 hooks or the guy with 0' strategic thinking. People aren't DCing because of that, they are rage DCing because they got caught early or they don't like the killer you've chosen.
Hitting just after the first hook serves a purpose as it cuts the scream short allowing you to hear stuff sooner.
It's not always done for BM.

If I find the cube first, usually have 1-2 dc's

Sigh.

I'd rather just be able to go next immediately with no penalty for any remaining players. I hate having to play out a 3v1 after someone d/c's within the first minute.

trickster has a pretty high DC rate/suicide first hook. thats part of the reason why i dont play him as much

Yep. I'm hoping Trickster will get a rework.

If there was a way to differentiate between an actual DC and an internet drop, I would absolutely drop the hammer on those who DC. I have zero sympathy for those who disconnect because they don't like a killer or map or they dot downed first. Don't be a baby, play the game. I would suggest like 30 min for the first, two hours for the second, 24 hours for the third. Maybe with a sliding scale depending on when in the match they DC.
BUT since handing people long timeouts because their internet crapped out would be really unfair, it'd be hard to justify. It would really suck to be on the receiving end of that.
That said, since internet issues tend to be limited to bursts, I think good manners would be for players who are having transient internet issues to just play something else until their connection stabilizes. If you get booted one game, and then another, and your ping is 300, just take a break to be kind to your fellow players.
It sucks, but I have had to do this a few times, and my internet is pretty much as good as you can get for residential (in the U.S., anyway).

Would like a system like overwatch comp where if there's a DC within the first minute the game ends with no type of rank penalty
2 -
Played Doc on Yamaoka - one dc after match starts and one dc after my first blast.
Let the other two escape as they were clearly new players...

Totally disagree, I have no sympathy for people who ruin multiple matches by disconnecting early. If you’re getting large DC penalties from intentionally disconnecting multiple times then you’re the problem, not the bans.

In Paladins the DC penalty is one hour for casual mode. They even get replaced by bots. It's frustrating when people DC just as you pick them up. It's one of the reasons I don't play killer as much.

I don't think making the DC penalty longer is the answer. I think the best thing that could be done is make it count as a kill for the killer and make so survivors don't depip or lower their MMR because they're in a 3v1 at 5 or 4 gens.

Another game I used to love handles DCs this way and i like it. If somebody DCs (they get penalty) everyone else can DC w/o penalty.

I've always advocated for some form of a karma system instead of a penalty, wherein players with bad karma due to dcing would play with like-minded individuals. The karma would not be determined by other players, but by the internal DC detection system.
In theory, the worse your karma is, the smaller your pool of players would be, thus "soft penalizing" you by making you wait ages for a match. Or, if the pool is large, nobody would ever have satisfying games because everyone would be dcing all the time lol

Today I had the most puzzling DC. It was on Lery with Pyramid Head. At the start of the match I had surprised a Nancy and wounded her, but she got away. A bit later I found and hooked a Bill, roamed a bit around, until said Nancy ran straight past me and towards the hook. By the time I got there I saw Bill running away, and not wanting to tunnel him, I turned around, seeing Nancy crouching down just behind me in a corner. So I swung my mighty cleaver, downed her and then she instantly DCed.
I was just flabbergasted at what happened. I mean that was a super unsave unhook and she hid in the most insecure position possible. Did she think that Pyramid Head wanted to camp her out on first hook? Nah, she was just salty that the match started really bad for her, but dayum, I sometimes wish I as killer had the gals to just DC when the first survivor escapes my grasp.

The discussion is: If the penalties are really a good thing or not. Because hackers using DOS and DDOS attacks are hitting player's networks, BHVR and many gaming networks all over. WHich is really bad because they can keep hitting DBD player's connections, knocking them out and forcing stacked soft-bans. Lately, DOS is getting out of hand because the lack of network administration and mitigating these types of issues. So even ISPs are getting knocked OUT temporarily and struggling with this.
I've said this a few times myself before. That they will probably need 2 modes. One mode with penalties and another mode without penalties. Those that so chose to do so. Can take the risk of bad players and the other mode. Where players are very serious about the game and have something backed by consequences for bad actions.

Yeah, I think the DC penalty should involve some BP loss as well. Nowadays people are giving up on their First down way more frequently

See i wish for something to give a little bit
Either the game needs to know if the person DC'd on purpose or if it were accidental
Plus the Quitter Bonus should be given to the other Survivors left in the match

Only thing that Behaviour needs to do with the DC penalty is to queue up serial DC'ers with each other so they can ruin each others games and leave the non-DC'ers alone.
