Stupid question about rift fragments

I am 99% sure I know the answer to this question, but can/do you bank rift fragments?

I know it is more common to have the rift close before you finish it, but I finished the current rift weeks ago, so it seems like these rift fragments we are being gifted must just be disappearing into the void, unless they are being banked somewhere, and I am just clueless.

Shame if that is the case.

    nope, then people would literally just save so many and get a lot of the new rifts done within the first few days/weeks.

    I get it sucks but I do agree that they shouldn't be able to be banked, it's more logical.
