What other cultures would you like to see?
We are now going to have 3 japanese-based killers, and I am all for it (let's just pray they actually do something unique for the power). I would still love some other cultures to get some highlights too though. So many cool cultures out in the world that feels so ignored in a lot of media, especially in terms of cryptids or folk monsters.
I still would love some native American culture added. Such cool monsters and beings that could be great for DBD, and would be so sweet as we just don't have much in media. Just hope other killers or characters get some more love, feels like we just escaped a kidnapping after the amount of trickster stuff was fed to us.

None. Original design by BHVR is a huge hit and miss. Get more licensed killers.
1 -
Native American, Indian, Greek, Australia
4 -
I want a Romanian Vampire to come into the game, or a German WW2 Soldier. Those would be fun additions imo
6 -
china, Hong Kong, Korea and Indonesia all have film industries and have produced some interesting horror films. A licence from any of these regions could be good.
2 -
I'd like to see some from Native American/Indigenous, African, Middle Eastern, Norse and Celtic mythology. I feel like getting the legendary cosmetics for Krampus and Minotaur we missed out on 2 killers that could've been pretty cool.

Exactly

I would LOVE to see a Naagloshii from Navaho culture. It's shapeshifting ability could be perfect for choosing forms that benefit it based on the map/tileset.

super agree, so many creepy and cool ideas to come out of indigenous culture

A native American Wendigo killer, who would satisfy out lack of a Werwolf like killer plus some added colt or hungerbased power or perks.
A middle eastern Djinn who commands wind or fire. Maybe even a Ghoul... the original middle eastern Ghul, not the regular carrion eater.
And as my ultra awesome entry: an Malaysian Pennangalan! This guys are freaking awesome! In essence, they are Malaysias native bloodsuckers, but there is a twist: when they go hunting they leave their body behind, while their head and all their inner organs break loose and float around. So they are a floating head, trailing their whole baggage with them.
Fun tidbit: on order ao squeeze back into their body they soak themselves in vinegar so that they shrivele up a bit, so if you meet a person that smells of vinegar, be careful around them!
If you suspect a person to be a Pennangalan, you might sneak into their house when they are hunting and turn their lifeless body around, so that their head attaches the wrong way and their true nature will be revealed to everyone the next day, when they walk around the city.
There is a Phillipines variety of this evil spirit called the Manananggal, it's somewhat similar in concept, but instead of a floating head with organs, here the torso rips lose and sprouts batlike wings, while the legs keep standing.
In the legends, smearing garlic on the open wound of the legs will kill the Manananggal.

I would absolutely love to see some native American culture added to the game. It would be nice

Aztec... Native American... WW2 or even WW1

For survivors, it would be great to have a Russian, someone from the Oceania region, a Nordic survivor, and someone from Ireland.
For killer folklore, I'd love to see someone from Brotish folklore, like Herne the Hunter or a bastardised form of faeries. Alternatively, there are some interesting concepts that can be taken from Nordic mythology, such as Mares or Trolls. Also, the Wechuge (a monster made of ice) and Jinn could add neat elemental additions.
Also, as a skin, a Cyclops would be neat.

What about a roman gladiator killer. A red cape, a helmet covering most of his face, golden/silver armour, shield on left arm, and a long spear for design and her/his weapon. As for a power there are many different possibilities depending on what type of killer bhvr wants to make.
2 -
A Vodyanoi would be cool. Or Koschei...BTW,while re-reading Koschei's story I stumbled over the fact that in some stories he casts sleep spells and you can only wake them up by playing a magical instrument. Sounds like a cool Skin for Freddy. Sad that it's always so hard to get skins for licensed characters.

I would like Indian or Arabian based

As an Australian, I would enjoy seeing our rich culture in the form of Mick Taylor.

It would take a lot of effort to find anyone in Australia who'd ever even heard of that.

im really into folklore but yeah i suppose

If you were hard set on an Aboriginal killer, the only ones of any notoriety would probably be a Bunyip, which is pretty much just the most vague water-lurker ever, or the Yowie, which is pretty much Bigfoot with a different name, and far more associated with a kid's chocolate than any form of actual lore.
Australia has much better horror icons in the form of Mick Taylor or someone more obscure but solid like Lola Stone. The Babadook got a lot of popularity briefly, but that's far more psychological than the monster doing stuff. In terms of survivors, Erin from You're Next would be a great addition, but the killers in that case were American.

More killers inspired by an in real life serial killers. Maps focused arounded those places while the murders were taking a place for example: Home where kitchen would covered in blood on the walls, human meat in bowls, dismembered body parts laying on the floor etc. Something creepy and can give a trauma.
1 -
more of a general serial killer. i dont want any based on real killings seems exploitative
2 -
Not really general, most of the serial killers choose their victims invidually and they're killing and disposing their bodies in different ways.

Almost anything other than Japanese. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Japanese culture and even studied the language in college/joined an immersion group later. That said, we now have 3 killers from Japan. How about some good ole' Eastern European vampire/werewolf action? Perhaps one of the nature-demons of East or West Africa? South American cult lore has a ton to pull from. Seriously, enough already. We get it, Japanese horror was a niche in the 90s and their Anime is still the best, but can we get some other stuff? Heck, what about southeast Asian lore/characters? There's plenty out there.

They have to pick what sells. Japanese sells. Vietnamese probably won't. Indonesian probably won't. Just a couple examples. We just had a South American killer released, btw.
0 -
No, they are picking what is cheap IP that may get some clicks. When it comes to horror, Japan is not the top of the list. There are several better horror cultures. That said, they have to go with what they can get. It is not just about what sells. Otherwise, they'd have Jason Vorhees locked down tight.

They would do a bunyip for the Aussie killer

Folklore around the world is great.....but
Problem is though. Most of the time it doesn't have any kind of interesting content created for it. Be it music, movies, TV series. Japan is known for its Iconic horror and adaptations of folklore, so its no wonder they have a huge roster of famous creatures in folklore etc. Same thing with the United States and its thriller Killers. Some of them (points to leatherface) are based on actual killers in real life.
I can count on 1 hand horror creatures from other cultures that have managed to make any significant dent in horror as a whole or having any influence or recognition in the world, 1 of them being Brazil and its weird creatures that come out of the jungle. Everyone else is stuck on stupid tbh, either repeating ideas that are old like Vampires and zombies(Train to Busan etc), or borrowing someone elses idea in another culture and re-releasing it as their own (The Ring, Japanese btw). But its a combination of some of those cultures just simply not being interested in their own folklore enough to spread it, or just downright not being interested in monsters enough to make up a folklore about one.
Between the US, Japan, Mexico, China, South Korea, and Europe, the amount of recognizable monsters and folklore are despicably low. Some countries just straight up look at you like an idiot cause they literally don't have any stories about folk monsters or cryptids that aren't already shared with other cultures...like Bigfoot. Then you got the people that try to force memes by taking something that isn't scary at all, and attempting to make it scary and folklorish....like Attack of the Killer Tomatos. <---MEME of the century. Lucky it came at a time where people had patience for the amount of cornball cheesy scripts back then.

Jason is because of the recent lawsuit. That's all.
0 -
You already play 3 killers based on real killings. Scream was a mass killing spree in Gainsville florida, Leatherface was based on some sick killings in Texas, and Freddy was based on a kid who actually died in his sleep in the middle of a nightmare.
^ Fun fact, a lot of Slasher killers and horror ghost stories that come from horror in the US are based on actual events.

Does Atlantean count?

Imhotep as a killer

You might enjoy other horror cultures, but they simply aren't considered widely popular. DBD is a Canadian game that largely targets the Western World. All of the horror icons we've had, regardless of where they come from, are popular figures in the west.
Japanese killers keep getting made because horror or not, Japan is popular. Like it or not, there's a huge amount of money to be made by securing the anime fans in your game's audience. The Ring and The Grudge also both got American remakes which cemented them in popular culture, and of the Japanese killers, Spirit is largely based on Kayako and we're now getting Sadako.
Again, you may like other horror cultures, but outside of their countries of origin, most are considered very niche. They probably will get sales on anything from the vets, but obtaining licensed IPs is one of the biggest factors in getting new people into the game, and "random Vietnamese horror movie you watched and loved and keep recommending to people who've never heard of it" isn't going to have that pull.
They don't have Jason because of licensing issues and court battles going on around ownership of the character. Simple as that. If he were available, he probably would have been in the first 4 licensed DLCs along with Myers, Freddy and Leatherface.

Philippine culture or any Asian that isn't part of Chinese, Japanese, or Korean descent.
No hate toward them of course, but it does get annoying when video game developers forget that Asia isn't just 3 countries. In most video games, the "Asian representation" has always been those three cultures. Rinse and repeat.
There are TONS of other cultures in Asia and it would be greatly appreciated to see more BROWN ASIAN representation as a fellow Filipino.

Would love a German soldier there are so many rumors and myth out there about what happens in the last months of the war cause Hitler had an whole ocult organization and scientists trying to actually achieve something like a super soldier that could be cool plus Americans just love to turn ww2 Germans into monsters anyway :D

An Irish folklore killer would be cool. Probably a banshee

"Asian" includes all of East Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia and Middle-east Asia. You need to make it more specific.
But in general, I agree.
We have 5 Japanese (Spirit, Oni, Yui, Sadako, new survivor), 3 Koreans (Jake, Yun-Jin, Trickster), 1 Chinese (Feng) and 1 Lebanese (Zarina).
That's 9 East Asians and one Middle-east Asian.
I want a South Asian chapter, a Southeast Asian chapter and if possible Middle-east Asian chapter. I'm kind of sick of East Asian favoritism too.
