The Trapper

What’s wrong with him? Why is he so weak? How can we fix him? Well, maybe i got a few ideas.

His traps are extremely underpowered and the thing that gives him his strength and main ability is like a joke to survivors. It’s almost laughable. Survivors see trapper as nothing but a free game since with just a tap of a button you can get rid of his power. Survivors are far to smart now a days, and they know how to counter him. But somehow we have to fix trapper.

Lets start off with an increase in the amount of time is required to disarm a trap. It normally takes 3.5 seconds, but instead lets increase that to 5 seconds.

And even better trapper should by default be able to camouflage the traps. Like jason in the f13 game, but some leaves or grass to hide the trap. Use something to blend it in the map so you can hide the traps on maps like the eyrie of crows where they are in broad daylight. What do you think?

I honestly think the trapper should be able to 'lob' a trap maybe 5 yards ahead of him, but they take 2 seconds to arm, so they can't be used to end a chase.

So he can throw a trap into a loop while still moving, thus denying the Survivor the loop unless they cross the trap VERY quickly. But he can't throw it in front of a running Survivor; he lacks the range, and the arm-time of 2 seconds means the Survivor will just run over it before it sets.

Disguising his traps would be nice so Survivors actually have to be extra careful. Also Trapper has brutal add ons and he probably would jump to A tier if his traps are hard to pinpoint. Honing stone and Tension spring is just so good at Snowball when it actually works, I went from struggling chasing one dude to suddenly have three people slugged on the ground.

Trapper has a lot of good addons and a fundamentally bad power. If even a handful of his addons were baked into his power, he'd be much, much better.

Of course, the fact that all the re-worked maps (and all the new ones) are way brighter than anything the game used to have, and the ever-present black mist was completely trashed... well the innate ability to hide traps completely vanished. At this point, they just need to make the traps automatically color-shift to whatever surface they're placed on.

Honestly, to stymie the ever-present Cheat With Friends hive-mind; his traps should be invisible outside of, say, 15M (Number can be changed).

Something that prevents Cheat With Friends from calling out his traps from across the map, but makes them visible JUST early enough to avoid while walking, but will probably get someone trapped if they are sprinting.

I love how the newest map just takes a pile of crap on his traps lol

Trapper is probably more average than too weak. His traps are a bit cumbersome to collect but they can be good for blocking out zones at loops and even one or two people stepping in a trap can build a lot of momentum since they’re instant downs if the trapper gets to the victim fast enough. His stats are probably weaker at the high end than against average players since veteran players are more likely to have the game awareness to spot the traps before stepping in them, but on the overall I’m betting he’s relatively ok-ish in terms of his stats. 🤷‍♂️

Don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t complain if he got a buff or revamp to make it take a bit less time to gather his traps, etc. I’m just skeptical he’s as weak as the original post makes him out to be.

    Oh, he is weak.

The plethora of second chance perks, plus Cheat With Friends completely nullifying his traps with 0 perk investment, makes him a joke.

1 Survivor sees your trap; the hive mind all know where it is. And I don't buy the 'I don't report his traps!' BS most Survivors say to cover up how hard Cheat With Friends breaks this game; watch even the laziest SWF group play; They will call out where the killer is/where traps are (Trapper or Hag) without thinking about it.

You talk about the “hive mind” but 4-person swfs are actually kind of rare. Something like half of games have a 2-4 person swf and half are all solo based on dev stats. And of the swfs about half of those are 2-person and 1/3 or 1/4 of swfs are 3-person. It’s only something like 5-10% of games that have a 4-person swf.

He needs to have a flying shark with a laser cannon that he can ride upon and rain down hell upon survivors from.

I'm still convinced they made that up to keep Killers from staging a mass exodus over being turned into walking jokes in Bullied By Survivors: The Game.
