Survivors, are you serious right now?
Complaining about Lightborn being too strong?
Is this a satire or an actual complaint going on in the community.
A super niche perk, that only ever works if a flashlight is in play.
Let me guess, you wanna blind bully the killer but you can't so your complaining about it.
God I play survivor for god knows how long and this is the dumbest thing I heard in months. (Well weeks)
Let the damn killers have it, it's already bad enough that you guys are increasing the queue times for survivors.

Where the hell are these lightborn complaints coming from?
I've seen far, far more people complaining about people complaining about lightborn than people complaining about lightborn so far.
56 -
You must be new around here. Players from both sides complain about everything they can. Anything to buff their chosen role and nerf their opponents.
6 -
And mostly Survivor mains trying to get killers nerfed more and more. Most complaints Killers have is with the general balance of the game. But the Lightborn arguments are just stupid......half the survivors say it's a useless perk stop using it and the other half say its OP and needs to be Nerfed.....I have even seen survivors suggest "Let killers keep the blind protection but still do the save".......
7 -
On Twitter and Reddit it's spreading around that "Lightborn" is overpowered. Who in the right mind thinks that.
Spirit for one had good arguments on why she wasn't fun to go against which they fixed later on. Now people have zero excuse when being destroyed by a spirit player.
But Lightborn? A reworked perk that ended up still being a niche perk.
It only counters Flashbangs and Flashlights, both are which are not exactly that practical to use every time and is more of a nuisance than an actual threat at times.
1 -
herehave a good laugh.
5 -
On my google news people are writing news articles about it to and referencing threads from the forum. Not being able to clicky clicky your flashlight seems to have opened up a black hole in the minds eye of the players despite it being a base game perk.
I've always been in the "instinctively face the wall" camp when picking up a survivor due to experience, but I think I'm having a bit of a giggle over it. The base game perks are supposed to be the strongest by design. If they're running Lightborn, they're not running a different perk in its place.
1 -
My point was you shouldn't be surprised how low players will go. While I don't think Lightborn is overpowered, boosted survivors who think they're entitled to blind the killer do. And yes, they're not trolling, they're seriously seething at the thought of not being able to mess with the killer however they want. They did the same with Franklin's Demise, going so far as to say killers are toxic for trying to counter their items.
Nothing should surprise anyone on these forums.
3 -
I've seen people call lightborn a perk that completely remove a mechanic in the game
Huh, kinda like iron will
16 -
Exactly, I use Iron Will because it's consistent and always useful.
Lightborn is a hit or a miss. 60% estimate of my matches people are not using any kind of flashlight or flashbang.
0 -
that... LITERALLY defeats the purpose of lightborn. Who would ever suggest allowing flashlight saves even though the flashlight did nothing?
2 -
I don't even understand this, the only time I've really seen people run it is in lobbies that have 3-4 flashlights and that's understandable because it screams "I'm about to get no hooks unless I put this on".
Also last time I checked, if a mechanic is only tied to very specific items and perks, it's not all that important of a mechanic.
1 -
To be fair, that ain't the majority of the survivors player base. But that this even got this kind of traction is quite astounding... Or not, depending on how cynical your view of the dbd community is :P
Maybe I'll start a rage thread about how OP and toxic urban evasion is and just see how many peeps will run with it?
3 -
You leave Urban Evasion alone! It is perfect as is and I wouldn’t know what to do with myself if the devs ruin it. It was hard enough for me when I removed Self Care from my perks.
1 -
But it's so toxic! Survivors immersing and not even leaving scratch marks, while moving at full speed D: Its killing my fun!!!1
That being said: sorry for bringing it up ;) Let's just be friends and share a cookie.
2 -
The only ones I see arguing about it are people that want something to argue about and keep the drama going. People that said their piece against Lightborn have already left the building. It did get some traction because complaining in this game is a meme and the post linked in that story is a funny read the more you read -- It encapsulates the essence of the vocal minority in a nutshell.
3 -
Okay, we can be friends, but the cookies have to be warm with caramel and pecans.
1 -
Someone made a post about using Lightborn in a match and the survivors in end game chat complained about it. Post blew up, most of the comments I saw were from people saying either use whatever perks you want or arguing about Lightborn being bad/waste of perk slot because flashlights are easy to avoid and survivors will focus on gens instead of blinds. Somehow this turned into all survivors are complaining about Lightborn. 😂
3 -
I mean in this original topic LIghtborn is a valid perk, i got told by a survivor that im disgusting because i dont think of his fun.
In his words there are 80% of survivors and 20% of us killers and we killers should always think of their fun and not just ours, and since i refuse to bow down to anyone and do my own thing in the game so i have fun im disgusting.
He got banned :) Make sure to find that topic its full of very entitled comments about lightborn.
1 -
Yea I know that's how stupid it has become. Survivors have multiple perks that negate various killers abilities or other perks, but when Killers have a perk that does that its OP and needs nerfed.
0 -
Why is there even article about this? What is going on? Who is talking about this and why are people taking this so seriously?
3 -
Survivors not being able to be annoying with flashlights = OP perk that needs to be nerfed apparently.
Lightborn is fine as it is. Leave it alone.
2 -
Or like Calm Spirit, which actually removes two mechanics from the game. Same thing about No Mither.
Of course, by their logic, Calm Spirit and No Mither need a nerf too.
1 -
You have opened a box.
And new thread came!
2 -
Lightborn is a mediocre perk that can actively lose you gen pressure.
Also I haven't seen anyone complain about it yet. Just complaining about the complaining.
1 -
This. Literally nobody is complaining about lightborn, I've seen more people saying it is a weak perk than people complaining about it.
3 -
i see 1 light in the lobby and I bring it. I haven't had a complaint yet. I'll gladly tunnel a flashlight out of the game. It's enough work these days to get them on the ground in a reasonable amount of time without them trying to take it from me.
Bring lights and complain if I bring noed so I remove the lights. I love it.

*Cries in High Mmr*

It's 95% a meme. It's a variation on the 'x is OP, nerf Pig' meme.
2 -
They say journalism never admits that nothing is going on, but this is getting really damn close.
1 -
Nobody said it was op, they've said it was terrible and/or good. Of course people took it way out of proportion because god forbid actual issues get traction
2 -
I even saw people arguing like crazy that you are the worst of the worst if you use lightborn and a buddy told me that is cause some streamers startet this with there communitys cause they had to many matches where they could not bully the killer or do fance saves for there best of cause of lightborn
0 -
Karu I have seen a few survivors say it's too Op and shouldn't negate the weakest item survivors have......how a item that completely blinds the killer and forces him to drop a survivor is considered weak boggles my mind.
0 -
because of how situational it is
it's very strong when used properly but it's very difficult to use properly. at least, say, maps (2nd worst imo) can be used all the time giving them constant use in a trial.
worth noting though, weakest =/= weak.
0 -
I agree that complaining about this perk is ridiculous, but blind bullying? Are you serious? I have to ask.. lol
1 -
Against a mediocre killer, sure, blinding and saves are pretty strong.
But a good killer makes flashlights work for him. A blind at a pallet means less distance while he follows your footsteps. Baiting saves is free pressure.
0 -
Yea there ARE flashlight squads that thier whole purpose is to bully the Killer all game and refuse to do the last Gen.
1 -
I have seen counter arguments from Survivors and "Killer" mains that people who use it should get good and face walls or just follow footsteps. The thing is alot of Killers are like me I dont own a good set of speakers or High Def headset and cant hear the direction of foot steps very well so they cant use footsteps like that. Also I know how to use walls because I have a few killers that Lightborne hasn't spawn in the web for them, but I have been blinded at strange angles that shouldn't of blinded or here is the fun ones.....if a window jump is boarded up by the map it can still be used to blind through. Flashlights still shine theough those boards and blind.
3 -
Sound is an incredibly important aspect of the game. Your setup isn't the game's problem.
And some angles are weird, but it's not just looking at a wall you can do. Survivors trying to save have to get in position, and won't be doing gens. Pretending to pick up and making them show their hand early can land you a free hit, a free down, or at the absolute least make them waste a huge amount of time they could have just been doing gens.
Flashlights aren't a problem.
0 -
Not once did I ever say flashlights were a problem. Yes someone's setup can cause issues hearing the footsteps but I never said that it's the games problem.
1 survivor who sees the chase or is on coms doing a save isnt hindering the survivors game progress because you have 2 others on gens.
I get what your saying but faking a pickup will only work once maybe twice.
1 -
One survivor not doing gens and failing to make a save is two survivors on gens instead of three.
And it works all the time, because they have to show their hand eventually even if they know what your game is. Faking the pickup, having a quick look around or even just whipping around in an unexpected direction and they wasted all that time for nothing.
The point is that a savvy killer easily can and absolutely should make bringing flashlights literally worse than bringing nothing.
If my dumb ass can do it, anyone's ass can.

I've literally never heard of VG247, it sounds like a name a 6 year old comes up with when his is taken.
And the video they are quoting is a youtuber that makes his money literally complaining about other people. He's the saltiest DBD player I have ever seen. and I'm sitting on 400 hours.
But to answer the question, I'm a survivor main and lightborn isn't OP. Honestly it's funny to find out you've been bamboozled by it. And it's a great perk for new killers that don't know how to avoid flashlights. I wouldn't mind a franklin's nerf. Not because it's OP, but because it's annoying.
0 -
There isn't a single thread about lightborn being OP on the front page I haven't heard anyone complain about it in a long time in a thread unless they were clearly a troll seeking a reaction, everyone knows that perk is trash people are really grasping at straws to keep drama going these days
2 -
That's why I said have a laugh when I posted it lol
0 -
But even you calling it a trash perk clearly wants to start more Drama or part of the group's that wants to alter anyone's viewing of it and make them stop using it.....
0 -
Every single survivor perk with a pickrate over 1% will have been complained about at some point here on the forums. It's both sides, bud.
0 -
The Steam forums are even funnier.
At least they were when I bothered reading them. I've seen a thread back in 2019 where survivor mains were complaining about "killers receiving too many buffs and now being too easy" (after the many buffs they had received since 2018). There were comments complaining about Bloodhound, Bitter Murmur, and even HANGMAN'S TRICK. To make it worse, it was still the old pre-buff Hangman's Trick.
It was about that time I just stopped reading those forums, couldn't stand how childish the discussions were. It was hard to tell when someone was being serious or just trolling/baiting.

Eh, Small Game was a super niche perk and it was destroyed for no reason. Why should Lightborn be any different?
0 -
Yes but Survivors complain about more things than Killers those perks that you speak of are the Metas or the ruthlessness of Hit Validation. I have seen more threads by survivors calling for Nerfs than Killers.
0 -
Destroyed?
It got better!
What are you even talking about?!
It made trapper feel like crap cause for whatever the reason perks back then used to directly target bear traps.
0 -
Don't pretend blinding the killer constantly is a favorite hobby of those survivors who base their whole personality on being toxic for the sake of doing it. There is no one else who would complain about it.
