Looking for some Spirit tips :3
Hey guys! Wishing you all Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year soon!
I was a Pyramidhead main for a long time, but kinda to pretty high MMR and he does not feel satisfying anymore. My playstyle was to basically spam M2 in a loop until I learn the survivor's evasion pattern to hit them. This is obviously not a winning strat... I thought this playstyle is gonna be fun, but now survivors pretty much call me noob even if I do a 4K, cause I "couldn't hit them with M2". So to even have a chance the play is to hunt dem cages. Thos works, but very stressful and not as fun as before.
Long story short, I'm trying to learn spirit. I am looking for any builds/tips that can help a newbie spirit to become better. I need smth that helps me in chase. Currently when I phase and chase a survivor I basically just loose them completely. Sometimes I get lucky and spot some grass or footsteps, but many times I just miss the moment when the survivor leaves the loop and when I exit phasing they are long gone. Any tips/tricks that maybe you've used to learn spirit?
Extra question: how do you like Spirit on high MMR?

I’m a dedicated Spirit main and would be glad to help. I gave someone else advice on Spirit a few days ago so I’ll copy and paste the same comment here as I think it can be helpful for you too:
As for advice on Spirit, duration isn’t your best friend on most loops. Short bursts are what you need to be doing a lot of the time as trying to mind game and stay in your power for a long time will likely confuse you and won’t do you much good. Basic brown and yellow add ons that affect activation charge speed and movement speed are helpful in putting you in this habit and are just overall good beginner add ons that aren’t super game breaking but are still helpful.
On jungle jims and shack, there is a bit more mind gaming you need to do with your power like baiting survivors into vaulting a window or throwing the pallet to meet them on the other side. For example, on a long wall jungle jim, one trick that does work is if you know a survivor is near the pallet and is camping it, you can bait them to drop it, go around the short side, and then you can hit them while their likely still in pallet dropping animation. Spirit moves very fast, so keep that in mind.
One thing that a lot of Spirit players haven’t adapted to since her nerf was that if you are face to face with a survivor on a really safe dropped pallet like shack, don’t bother trying to mind game it as they’ll hear you coming from the other side very easily. Just break the pallet and use your 176% movement speed to catch up with them. Her Iri add on, Kintsugi Teacup, can help you get in that good habit.
That’s some basic advice I can give you. If you have any additional questions like how you can use specific add ons, I’ll be glad to try as best I can to be helpful :)

Hey! Ty for the tips! I have tried her and using smaller phases does seem to work much better. Shorter phase -> less chance for me to confuse myself.
The problem is with this playstyle spirit is not as enjoyable as she used to be... Like these smaller phases are not as satisfying as phasing for 15 seconds and appearing on top of someone. Is it safe to say that that is almost never efficient enough to do or with thousands of practice those phases are still possible and efficient to do?

It’s mainly at loops when the short bursting is the most effective. Using long bursts can be good when survivors are holding W after kicking a pallet, which brings me back to trying to mind game dropped strong pallets not working. You’re already fast enough to counter that. Hopefully I explained everything well, I’m not the best at doing that.

Since you were a pp head main. Did you feel like they changed the speed of his attack? I came back to him after ages and it feels so slow.

You'll most likely never land on top of a survivor any more, considering they have an audio queue now. If you're on top of them, they move. If they hear you from one direction, they move the opposite. etc.
If you're easily losing survivors while phasing, Stridor is your best friend. Not only are injured grunts louder (and no longer countered by Iron Will), but regular survivor breathing and running sounds are also louder. That should help you keep a better idea of them in your phase. (:

I mean if they move, I can hear them move. But I understand what you are saying :3
I did try Stridor, but it's actually more confusing than helping. Basically, the survivors are too loud... I think they are next to me, but after ending phase it turns out they are miles away

There was a bug earlier, where the sound of the attack was late so it felt like it's slower. Afaik they did not make it slower, BUT:
One of the reasons I don't feel comfortable playing him (other than high MMR feeling unplayable and heave tunneling playstyle) is the fact that he feels INCREDIBLY clunky. Like almost unplayable clunky. The timer on his attack feels inconsistent. The way how he cancels his attack and then you have to m1 many times feels a bit like the new Slinger animations. I haven't played him before his rework (nerf), but now I understand why these things feel so clucky: because they weren't intended to be in the game in the first place.
Basically, I don't blame you for feeling like his attack is slower... Try to put your sword on the ground and Press M1 when you feel like it. Then try to do the same but press M1 a tiny bit earlier. Repeat. Sometimes, you will be surprised how early you can do it. And sometimes it feels like its late. Idk why.

I disagree with Stridor. It hinders you more than helps you because it’s a different volume than what you’re used to hearing. I wouldn’t even recommend Stridor before the 5.1.0 midchapter when it countered Iron Will.

not the OP but honestly i don't feel much different- since they fixed that one sound bug he's felt very nice to play imo. it probably feels slow because you're used to, like, every other attack in the game having a much quicker travel time.

I think I did try it at that time, and after 4 games I decided it confuses me more than it helps.. :D

Nah, i played him heaps when he came out and a bit after the nerf here and there. I play without sound because i would rather vibe to music and relax so the "sound bug" was never noticed by me anyway. I swear the travel time of the attack is slower and the pause before i can shoot is longer. Although as op said, sometimes it is faster for no reason.

I might just not notice a difference because I haven't actually stopped playing him and it's been a gradual shift then idk, personally I don't feel a difference so idk
