Experience with Radeon GPUs

Hello,

who is using a Radeon GPU? I am currently thinking about buying a new GPU (my wallet is already crying), simply because the GPU I use as replacement is not really good and I want to upgrade it so that it does not bottleneck my system anymore.

Looking for a AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT, it is a bit better than the 3060, but a bit weaker than the 3060 TI, but at least I dont need a bigger Power Supply and it would be enough for what I play (only playing on full HD).

However, after reading a bit, it seems like Radeon-GPUs have some problems with this game. Can anyone give their experience? DBD is my main game and it would be really bad if I pay money for a better GPU just to see that the optimization of this game causes problems.

I use a Radeon RX 470. With reduced settings, I play on usually triple figure FPS, but the game feels like crap. It never used to be like this - only over the last several months has performance dropped. My FPS is still fine, but the game feels stuttery and laggy quite often despite it.

That being said, the game just isn't well optimised in general, so honestly I don't think it would make a huge difference AMD Radeon or not. I know people running on RTX 3070s etc who experience stuttering too. It's just DBD.

I'm using a Fury X, which is not exactly a new model.

On low settings, I can run 120 fps. There are some maps that are just badly optimized no matter what and even monster GPUs of any brands will have fluctuating frames on those.

Rather than just performance, I suggest you have a look at drivers as well. Generally speaking, Radeon is a bit lacking in that department and Nvidia offers control panels with much better configuration options.

    Thank you!

Yeah, this is what I mean. I have read a Thread from a few years ago where someone said they had problems with the game when using a AMD-GPU. Also, when browsing the Forums, I saw people complaining about stuttering with AMDs, but I did not check about nVidia-GPUs, probably the same amount...

    Thank you!

I am currently using a 1050 TI, which is okish for DBD. Medium with 60 FPS is possible, rarely I get some FPS-Drops (when near a completed Generator for example). This GPU is a replacement, because my 1070 TI had an electrical short circuit. So I only know nVidia-GPUs and the 1050 TI is not really good, some games I used to play are not really possible anymore.

I have seen videos of people testing AMD-GPUs and those were alright, but I dont really trust BHVR and their optimization.

I am using a RX 6900XT and i have no issues with the game at all.

And i disagree with Bwsted about the AMD drivers.

These days the AMD driver and control panel is packed with lots and lots of useful stuff and ways to optimize things.
