Here is a list of reasons why (IMO) Solo Queue survivor is often a horrible experience...

In case anyone has forgotten, communication isn't always key when it comes to survivor coordination in DBD.
There are elements in which no one could tell you what/how to do something. It also requires skill to be able to make the appropriate read, time actions and overall understand that it isn't a 1v1 game, and you have to play YOUR part not just holding M1, but also sometimes doing things you aren't comfortable doing. They are qualities often found in SWF groups due to the reliability that you can count on each other because they often understand how the game works.
Think of working on a school project with your friends and having that feeling that each one of you is always a step ahead, because you trust that even when times are difficult, whether you need to meet a deadline or carry someone, your pals will always show up and show out for you.
I have come up with a list that I feel touches of a huge chunk of the issue currently seen via my own experience in Solo. This is in no particular order:
- Survivors whether due to inexperience or fear, opt to go for an unhook save or instead just crouch next to the hook in hopes that the killer will leave. This happens even when kindred is brought and what should have been an information tool, becomes more of a annoyance tool because their FOV ends up looking something like this through the entire first hook phase:
- Survivors not being efficient enough on generators/totems when the only person that can loop is being chased. This one happens a lot for some reason. It is also interesting because they themselves know that they can go down in 5 seconds vs 30, but somehow still choose to not do anything (when they are given time) if the killer's TR is even slightly in the vicinity. Which brings me to the next reason..
- Survivors not understanding how to read the hook phase timer (or at least try) and opting to over-commit to a gen instead of saving a teammate. Gens vs friends right?
- Survivors don't understand how to take aggro away from the objective. Whether it's a hook or a generator, some survivors are simply so hung up on getting chased by objectives.
- Survivors do not understand the meaning of efficiency. An example of this is when a survivor opts to heal over finishing a generator that would have been done, had they just committed with you. Co-op points and speed buffs aren't real!
- Survivors not understanding their resources. They will throw down every single pallet in their way, making me wonder if I am playing Pac-man or DBD.
- Survivors farming without BT. Understandably this one goes hand-n-hand with the timing of actions during specific scenarios because sometimes you do have to do that, but it does seem to be a constant issue and you would think that by now (with all the camping/tunneling) survivors should know better.
- Survivors slugged who don't recover. This one makes me especially annoyed, because first you risk your own skin when it might be their last hook to try to pick them up, and basically end up wasting time you could have otherwise used for the rest of the team.
These are just some reasons why I believe Solo Queue is in bad shape. I understand that realistically there shouldn't be any expectancy when it comes to playing with random players, but it is hard to believe that some of the most basic stuff still to this day is an issue. It is also the reason why the swf teaming is generally preferred.
Now I am not saying that every single solo survivor plays like this, because certainly I have had some good matches where I felt my teammates (for a lack of a better term) knew what was up. They don't feel consistent to me, and they are more like far in between.
Which leaves me wondering if I am just in the wrong MMR or if they are just in mine because they keep escaping since they are almost invisible during their own trials.

so basically most survivors are bad at the game and SWF lets you avoid that by choosing who you play with and if you're good at the game, you can tell your bad friends what to do. If they're not bad at the game you don't have to tell them what to do as well.

I don't tell my friends what to do. They perform things on their own.

then they're not "bad friends" because they're not bad at the game. I'll add that clarification/extra info.

They are reliable players, big difference.

yeah like I said they're not bad at the game. Good players are reliable players. SWF lets you pick good players so you'll always have reliable teammates.

A reliable player is a good player. Because even if you know you are not good at one thing you can choose to do something else that you excel at. However, sometimes you might have to do some things that are uncomfortable (taking aggro, finishing a gen at 99% if someone got pushed off etc), because that is how the game works.

Right, but most survivors won't do that because they're not as good as they think they are. I'm not sure if you're agreeing or disagreeing.
They lack the knowledge of what to do or the awareness of when to do it, therefore they're not good at the game. You can circumvent getting them in your games by just choosing your teammates.
