What have I missed?
So, im an older player who Uninstaller the game around 2 years ago. I still keep up with *some* of the changes (I know you can rebuild totems and bow there is existences of "boon perks", new markets matchmaking. Ect.). However, I don't know anything in terms of the gameplay itself.
I'm just curious how the game is going atm. If it's fixed I might reinstall the game and try it out. If it is still a mess I'm probably gonna stay out.

I don't know what games were like 2 years ago... but I can tell you what's changed in the last year. Hex perks are hella risky and tend to blow up before they get any value, the current killer meta is on gen blockage or delay more than gen regression, you're often kind of screwed if you're playing a killer that doesn't have anti-loop capabilities (and coincidentally, every release we've had since, like, Oni has anti-loop), and split pressure doesn't work anymore with boons. You commit to each injury or they run to the boon and heal. On the survivor side, against certain killers, running across the map and predropping pallets is more effective than looping. The game is 100% about chasing rather than hiding, if it ever was in the days you played. Other than Circle of Healing, the survivor meta has not changed at all. Also, Dead Hard actually works and it's rather terrifying.

If you are killer main the killers are in a worse place by far, if you are main survivor you are in a paradise now.
Circle of Healing a broken perk which let the survivors heal themselves with a boon totem (the oppose of a hex but for survivors and with area of effect) with the same speed of a brown medkit and the heal speed stack with other perks and medkits and their addons, Dead Hard indirectly buffed with a hit validation fix, The Game (the map) is now greatly survivor sided because have about 22 pallets with half of them being safe, Haddonfield as survivor sided as always, ok all maps that were survivor sided two years ago still are, some of them even more due the breakable walls. Eyrie of Crows, a map recently released sometimes spawn broken with a lot of chained loops, pallets, T-walls and jungle gyms (at least is only sometimes but this should never happen in first place imo).
I think I didn't forget nothing.

Honestly the game is more or less the same. I started playing about three years ago, played for a year, then stopped for a year because I got distracted by other games, and came back a couple months ago. And yeah, there were new characters added and revamped graphics on the maps and tweaks all over and such but the game overall is basically the same as what I played when I started. If you liked the game two years ago you’d like it now, if you hated it two years ago you’d hate it now. The core gameplay loops haven’t changed.

I'd second that the game is mostly the same. You might have an advantage because you know styles of play that aren't currently in use. If you're playing Oni Boons are great because survivors deposit all their blood in one spot for you to grab at your leisure if you don't break the totem.
The rifts are easier to complete now and not a complete the rift and have 30 levels left over, so that's nice.

Remember the god windows that existed in nearly every map? Most have either been removed entirely, or exist with a breakable door nearby to make them useless. Coal Tower and Groaning Storehouse are no longer buildings of despair.
