Why is self-care prioritized over unhooking a survivor

I don't know if this happens to other people, but when you get hit right next to a survivor that is hooked while you have self-care after you get hit instead of unhooking, the game wants you to self-care instead. Could you guys prioritize unhooking the other survivor since there is no need to self-care when the unhook caption pops up. The other survivor can heal you and it doesn't make sense to self-care near a survivor who can just heal you.

    Press forward while pressing unhook.

Healing has a higher animation priority in general. If a dying survivor is under the hook aswell you will start healing him instead unhooking

yeah I don't think they will ever do anything with it, but it can cost the game sometimes. Yet if it becomes that situation it is the survivors fault anyways..

Press shift or move forward while triggering unhook.

It should be easy to change that, the game works with animation prioritiys like Dark souls. Another example is a dying survivor next to a dropped pallet. The animation priority is to break the pallet, unless a survivor is blocking this priority by vaulting the pallet and you end up picking the survivor up

I mean you could always not save a survivor while the killer is right there and has already hit you.
Or you could avoid this problem entirely by not taking Self-Care, maybe.

    lmao

    IT's called borrowed time>

Also @ OP, I've never had this problem, so I assume the advice of people saying press W when making the save will be helpful.

Don't take Self-Care or don't rescue when the Killer is right there. Both of these are (temporary) fixes.

Imo self-caring over unhooking should be the penalty of using self care ;D

I thought they fixed this awhile ago to prioritize unhook over self care, is it back?

I hadn't seen this happen in a long time when I was still running self care before the nerf.

Of course you didn't need to say the last part anyone with a brain knows that. Talking about the unhook action should be priority and people have already said sprint toward the unhook after getting hit right at the hook to make sure it unhooks..

Yes I think they are right and I will keep this in mind more often when unhooking

Established that sprinting into the unhook grants it even when standing still
