Why the adept achievements are so much harder for killers?
Just getting 4k seems so much more reasonable than having a perfect game. There are so many conditions that you have to pay attention.
Did you play too well you and the match ended quickly? Well, ######### u, you did not get it.

Because a merciless killer used to be a 4k (it actually used to be score 5k points in each category before it became hook-based), but then out came the emblem system. Survivor achievements never suffered this because an escape was never tied to a pip, unlike a merciless which was, so when they changed it for the emblem system killer adepts became about 30x more difficult.
And because consoles (Sony) are lovely when it comes to achievements, if you can still physically complete an achievement it cannot be changed without about 80 years of waiting time, lots of negotiations, about 3 swimming pools worth of tears.

As you stated, a LOT more has to go right for the killer to get Merciless Killer when all a survivor has to do is escape.
Kill everyone but did it too quickly so you didn't get enough points in other stuff? Fail
Kill everyone too slowly and the gens are gone so now at least one has escaped? Fail
Kill everyone the exact speed you need but the fourth survivor wins the RNG battle and the Hatch spawns right under their feet? Fail
Not to mention that being killer in general is just a lot harder than being a survivor. Any potato can accidentally survive under the right circumstances but killing 4 survivors (generally) takes at least some kind of skill to do, especially considering how many kill perks are just absolute garbage and unhelpful.

The best part is trying to get Adept, using your power efficiently -- and getting punished in Emblems for it.
It took me a while to get Adept Plague as, having sick survivors continuously cleansing (which is how you're not supposed to play against her, and is optimal if you're playing her) was punishing me I'm Emblems because I allowed too much "survivor healing". That's just one example of how Adept Killer can make you want to pull your hair out, lol.

To be fair now that ranks reset to ash every month it isn't that bad.
You can get merciless with a single kill if all the rest are filled
There are a couple of survivor adept that are way harder then the killer ones

I haven't tried it yet, but adept hag must be a nightmare once you get your fifth stack of devour hope. imagine having to deliberately play poorly so as not to end the game too quickly

You don't need to get a 4k, I've gotten it with 3ks. The game just needs to go on for a while and you need to do a bit of everything.
