Anyone agree that Deathslinger feel so bad to play?
Deathslinger feel so bad playing with in high MMR, I'm sure I have a very good aim and prediction but long range shot is just can't, you can't miss long range shot with Deathslinger because it will extend the chase for possibly 10-30 seconds (one gen) or even more since he walk so slow and he need to reload. You will be forced to take long range shot alot of time in natch since you cant just walk up to them with your 4.4 speed especially on big map survivor will just hold W untill they find new pallet. Deathslinger are
Also he don't really have any high skills celling, for long range shot you just need to predict where survivor gonna go, most player can do this, for close range shot most people who have 500 hours at the game can hit.
Huntress if she miss 1 hatch, he doesn't get big punish as much as deathslinger and she can also bypass pallet, she can pressure gen from far away with long range shot and can also down people on exit gate( I do that a lot of time)

I think almost everyone... except few masochists and players who never played him.
I actually think his skill ceiling got lower with nerfs. Quick-scope removed, also removed viability of long range shots and shots through gaps. Right now you just hold ADS, because trying to go for long range is too risky and anyone can react to it.
ADS mechanic is just terrible, low turn rate with small FOV. It wasn't issue before, because you just didn't use it with quick-scope.

Well firstly I really disliked these changes and he felt 100% worse to play and I thought I will not play him anymore.
However after some weeks then I played many games with him and somehow I still find him fun to play.
However I still think they should buff him or revert some of these nerfs. The biggest deal breaker was the instant scope removal (+ huge terror radius).
3 -
He was designed to be fluid and emulate first person shooters and he is so responsive, I feel like I am playing Call of Duty! As a fan of firing guns in murica, Deathslinger is the most fun killer ever.
2 -
That may be true before nerfs...
But his ADS mechanic is just really bad to use imo.
8 -
I'm really into him currently and want to master him but damn this bs game never gives me the hit when it's aimed right at them. He feels a little clunky but I never played him pre-nerfs so I'm sure he felt a lot better then. Huntress is so much easier and rewarding but I still find him funner
0 -
I never played him cause he doesnt seem fun to play for me.
I would maybe consider trying him out but after his nerf? No thanks
3 -
If they didn't remove quick-scope, I would probably still play him. I wouldn't really care he got worse otherwise as a killer, but he would be still fun to play for me... Right now, he is not. I just enjoy Trickster / Huntress more and think they are both better than him now. I think Trickster is better, that's just bad...
2 -
The insta scope removal was what I thought will ruin my fun with him. And it kinda did at first but I still enjoy playing him for some reason.
I agree that just because he is weaker it doesn't mean I would stop playing him but making him more unfun / clunky is what makes people quit playing him.
1 -
Quickscope killed.....him
1 -
He was fun before the nerf.
Now he is extremely unfun to play and I regret putting bloodpoints into him.
He plays like he is underwater.
5 -
It's not fun because it's not reward for high skills play anymore, it's more like a guess game, even if you aim directly perfectly prediction at them survivor can easily dodge.
This is also happen to huntress but she also got another 7 chance with her adds on and map pressure. deathslinger is confirmed that you will add another 30 seconds of chase if you miss 10m shot, you also didn't miss because of your skills, you aim perfectly prediction but survivor win guessing game.
0 -
Huntress has also bigger hitbox and can actually flick, which he can't because of slower turn rate during ADS.
1 -
Huntress also doesn't have to worry about survivors just reaching out of range of his shot. I've seen it happen so many times on both sides where a well aimed shot misses solely because the survivor is just out of range.
0 -
well yeah there is no reason to even play him UNLESS you enjoy playing him. there is no point when she does the same thing way better and I mean, I see him in comp tournaments but all slingers do is camp at 5 gens and it works 😂
0 -
They played him there, mainly because they kinda had to play him and there is many perks / items banned.
He is not that bad killer. It's kinda same as Twins, he just got worse, less fun and more clunky. Tournament players don't care about fun.
0 -
Yeah bro I tried to get the adept yesterday thanks to rank reset and it was still a pain lmao
2 -
It might be good idea to wait for mid-chapter so you have better perks.
0 -
I like Deathslinger more than i like Trickster. Once you get used to the slow aiming, it's not a bad killer
0 -
Sure, I don't think he is like worst killer in dbd. It just depends on a reason you wanted to play him in first place and how do you feel about his ADS mechanic.
I don't think anyone who plays FPS games can like that tho.
0 -
I played well with Deathslinger last night for a change, but it was in spite of his incredibly slow turning speed while aiming which I still don’t like. (I barely actually used the rifle, most of the hits were basic attacks.) He’s the only ranged killer who can’t turn at normal speed while aiming, it just feels irritating.
1 -
Does PH count?
but yeah, I hate it too.
0 -
He was never a good Killer against very good Survivors, his 1vs1 was brutal (still is but not as much) and thats it, no map pressure, no tracking of any kind, no way of splitting damage, no inbuilt stalling, barely any stealth (he had a 16 TR with M&A true but he is SO tall you could see him coming from a mile away), he wasnt very fast at downing people (you would down them because it was almost impossible to escape him but it would take you time unlike Huntress or Trickster) etc.
Most games with him were, find someone chase for sometime, end the chase while the other 3 slammed gens because they knew it was a matter of time someone else got down without having much to do.
Imo some of the nerfs were necessary, "the damned if you, damned if you dont" is poor gameplay design but they should have given him something else, either tracking or some inbuilt stalling.

Actually I could be wrong but I think Pyramid Head’s turning speed is the same regardless of whether or not he’s charging his ranged attack. Only his movement speed changes.
0 -
He feels bad to play because of the unwarranted nerf that he got to his ADS animations.
0 -
The thing is quick-scoping needed to be nerfed. There wasn't enough time to react to it. If he missed a shot it was because of bad aim, not because the Survivor managed to dodge. That being said, of course he should've gotten big buffs in other areas, but they more or less hung Deathslinger out to dry.
0 -
He’s very much viable imo. It really does play the same. Main complaint for me is the terror radius. I’ve now backed off both ADS cooldowns and even the terror radius makes sense.
0 -
Well, as I could see in that video, lot of zoning with fake / hold ADS, which hey, if you enjoy it, then he is fine and he is same as before, but that's not how most players played. I didn't played like it for sure.
0 -
If by lots of zoning you mean there’s lot of 0.4 second shots, long shots, multiple exhaustion perks denied (a Sprint Burst and Balanced Landing). It’s what I used to enjoy about Deathslinger.
I think the key was getting used to shooting at 0.4 seconds instead of the 0.25 it was before.
0 -
Wow, lots of complainers up in here! The nerfs were barely anything. All of the really good Deathslinger mains are still really really good with him they barely even noticed the nerfs, only the bad ones that just faked with their gun over and over had to move on to Trickster. He has counterplay now!
0 -
Why should you be able to dodge it again? You could do it with DH btw...
You can dodge against Nurse? No, you try to predict and make her miss. Only difference is that you know she is going to do it.
His spear is same speed as charged hatchet, but with way smaller hitbox and you can't flick. It's really easy to miss it and limited range.
If you are able to react to it, then it's just too risky to ever commit to it, you are forced to either fake, or hold ADS. If you like it, then nice for you, but I find it super boring.
0 -
The fact still is that longer ADS + travel time + small hitbox make it possible to react and dodge it and you are punished a lot for any missed shots. If survivors are looking behind them, it's just too risky to commit on your shot and it's way more better to hold / fake ADS.
0 -
You know that it is opposite, right?
Those who liked to fake are still playing him, because it's still possible and you can also hold ADS now.
Those who played him for a quick-scope stopped....
1 -
They both heavily nerfed and only slightly buffed a mid tier killer. He was never going to feel great to play.
This is 100% a case of survivor's fun, being prioritised over a killer's viability.
4 -
lmao, this is so autistic, getting 4k against a player who don't even look behind while juking is nothing. I've been 4K with Deathslinger thoundsands of time but I only talk about high mmr only.
Those player don't even try to dodge your shot or react when you aim down sights, don't even look behind lol.
3 -
Embarassing comment. Tone it down. There’s a few players on here who say he plays the same post nerf. They’re saying it because it’s true.
0 -
What are you talking about? It can't be the same, are they braindead?
You can literally go on twitch and ask about deathslinger nerf 99% of people will say the same
PLUS there is 0 Deathslinger in high MMR lmao.
I'm still getting 4k with him time to time even in high MMR, but that because the survivor are stupid and lopping against window mass. Or they don't even look behind while juking.
Deathslinger have 0 skills celling after you understand playing him.
I can literally record a video against tournament player long range shot you will see that I make perfect prediction, I will miss 99% of the time, and I will need another 10 second to just catch up, then you have to pray he doesn't get to pallet or chase start again, you have to pray he doesn't get to save zone. etc. etc.
For mid range and close range or I hit 99% of time.

This post is full of contradictions. Like one sentence to the next:
“Zero Slingers in high MMR; I four kill with him still in high MMR.”
Is Slinger bad or not? I say his chase is amongst the best in the game. Even post nerf. You seem to flip flop.
I just saw this reply. I recorded a bunch of games as Slinger that week. This was the most interesting.
Those matches were all 4k’s. It’s just in the matches not uploaded the survivors would quit halfway through the match cause they loss chases so quickly. He’s oppressive.

I like Deathslinger personally, even after the nerfs. I think he could do with a reload speed buff though.
1 -
Yes.
The quickscope change was fine.
His terror radius should have been left untouched. That was an awful change.
0 -
Yep. Deathslinger does feel absolutely terrible to play. What's worse is they also nuked most of his niches from orbit and now all that's left is a Killer who is above average in chase but has literally nothing else going for them... but killers like that are a dime a dozen.
2 -
I played him for the 1st time in awhile a little bit after his nerf and I just can't enjoy him I hate the slow aim in I miss the quickscoping he had.
1 -
My accuracy has only improved since the nerfs since I'm an awful shot sothe ads nerfs dont affect me.
The TR buff had made my Starstruck play style even stronger
0 -
He is dead now, what's the point of playing him when we lost everything that was fun in him?
1 -
Alright, if you really think he can be played exactly same, then show me a game where you never had to fake / hold ADS, just always commit and shoot asap. That would be fun...
In that video, I have seen you fake 2 times on single survivor that was like 6 meters from you...
0 -
He looks very painful to play. They nerfed him way too hard imo.
1 -
Check out 5:40 and 11:40 in that video. There's several quick scope long shots in the vod. The Sprint Burst denial was a solid shot, too.
0 -
I think we can all agree he feels bad asf to play these days vs a competent squad
1 -
Yeah and also tons of fakes and holding ADS...
0 -
You have to be smart enough to know when to ignore the fans of your game. The "quick scope" whining was just the flavor of the month back then. Now nobody cares. I loved Deathslinger. I thought the idea worked really well. They destroyed that with the CLUNKY and UNDERWATER feeling now though.
If a character in a 1st person game aims quickly then it gets changed later it will always feel worse. THAT specific change was NOT the way to fix it. Typical BHVR though..sadly..

Since his add-on is there as option on many things. Thus, devs should look to buff him in:
- Since they nerf the scoping, why dont we reduce miss cooldown by 0.25
- Make his shot regress the gen
- Increase reeling speed by 10%
