Best general advice to counter COH?

So I am not going to discuss why when playing killer this perk is a nightmare, we all know it, (just couple of matches ago I had such a magnificent loss as a Nurse on Ormond because no matter how many times I had all 4 of them injured COH just wiped all my pressure away, I did make a mistake of constantly trying to keep everyone injured to hope for some end game snowball but I just was not fast enough in my downs and they were all up and healed in seconds) so let's just discuss some best viable strategies that can be applied for most of the killers.

In my case, when playing survivor and obviously either I or one of my friends will run COH we did get countered by pentimento/plaything / thrill of the hunt build couple of times, I, unfortunately, do not have pentimento and plaything yet since I have not upgraded Artist and Pinehad yet but for anyone who does it is one of the viable things you can do.

Play strong killers who have antiloop or high mobility and never hit and run, finish every every chase with down.

Hate to say this but...take a break from killing. Killer rates go down maybe behaviour realises something is wrong

Plague is probably the best counter for boons. Perk wise.. thrill of the hunt + plaything could be nasty combo but 2 hexes means less gen defense so im not a super fan of hex builds.

    Play survivor

Thrill of the Hunt paired with a lot of hexes does a good job but isn't consistant with hexes being hexes

Sloppy butcher is okay. It adds 4 seconds to the selfheal and now that people have the mindset of healing all the time it can add up.

Nurses calling is pretty good now too as most survivors have abandoned shadow step. You are sadly screwed if you face the oddball that does run it ofcourse

Best and most concistant way is to just play chase killers and don't give them a chance to heal. Also be efficient when snuffing totems. Don't ever drop a chase for them. Only snuff them after a hook or down

sometimes i use thrill of the hunt without any hexes to make boon preparation as long as possible. then when they see i use thrill and no ruin they go nuts and try to search for the potential devour

When you say general advice, then there's no magic bullet.

Commit to chases. It works better when playing killers that can commit to chases because they counter W, of course.

Don't go out of your way to snuff the totem. Treat it as kicking gens. You don't have anything that takes immediate priority and you're passing by anyway.

Specific advice and strats can be given for specific killers, bu that's not what were you asking for.

Play chase commiting Killers. If you play hit'n run Killers, you'll struggle.

You could bend hit'n run Killers with Perks and Add-ons to make them more into chase Killers.

A lot of good advice already. One additional thing is, if you know there’s a Boon because you heard the unique noise alert for a Boon creation, watch what direction survivors tend to run after you hit them since they will probably tend to try and get close to it to heal or hide or maybe be in range of Exponential if they get slugged. That way when you get a moment you can scout that area to see if you can flush a survivor out or hear the Boon they’re going to.

Also if you do find and snuff a Boon, remember where it was because survivors who reapply Boons tend to try and reapply them to the same totems. It’s kind of like once you know they’re focussing on a gen they’re likely to keep coming back to it, human nature is often not to give up on an idea once you have it in your head. Plus the Boon maker might only know that one totem spot and not want to have to find another to get use out of their perk.

Personally I like Bloodhound as well in this meta (in case you can’t tell from my avatar). It’s great for keeping after people who are injured before they can heal. Once you have their blood trail they basically can’t escape if you follow it. Of course you have to weigh that against possibly needing to pressure people off a gen that might be about to pop, but if you like using blood to track survivors this not only makes the blood trivial to see even on grass and dark ground but also makes the blood last a few seconds longer than normal which makes it more likely you’ll spot it before it fades. And blood works regardless of what they’re doing - Nurse’s Calling’s aura is great but only happens during the actual healing.
