no console progression i guess
will we ever get a proper update on whether console cross progression will or will not become a thing?
so many tens and thousands of people are waiting on it and we are just still left with no answers on whether to expect it or not.
will we ever get proper answers? if we’re not gonna get it we would rather just know that we’re not getting it over sitting here hoping and wondering. would you be able to clear anything up?

The answer is: you should not expect it at this point. They have been very clear about that. They are trying to get it but can’t confirm if they ever will get it done. It’s not entirely in their hands.

Sony and Microsoft have to agree with this, it's not that easy.

We gave a pretty solid answer to this in the QA - we said as much as we are able to say. We're continuing to work on it, but as it's not solely down to us it's not something we can guarantee.

so basically its actively being worked on with no guarantees results?

Look at it from all points of view. The devs know we want it and broach the topic to Sony and Microsoft (Nintendo situation belongs in its own thread), basically sayng "yeah some of our gamers fervently want to leave your platforms and take their money elsewhere please."
I'm assuming the devs word it better than that, but it's the root of the problem: a deal handling compensation for possible lost future revenue that is acceptable for all sides.
Yuck.

A way to speed run it. Take sony out of the deal. Make it just between xbox and PC. No reason we should be held back because of Sony.

An answer that consists of "it'll come eventually probably" even though bhvr is well past when it was initially projected isn't a particularly solid answer imo. Other games have done this before why is bhvr having so many problems?

I wouldn't hold your breath thats for sure.

It’s the money. Obviously. Sony and Microsoft would lose out on money if cross progress would be enabled. They are aware that people mostly want to switch to pc because of performance issues etc.
And they won’t say it nor are they allowed to say it when negotiations are still on-going.

That makes sense, and even if it does come each console will probably have exclusives.

I’m pretty sure it came out in the Epic lawsuit that Sony was charging a fortune for Fortnite cross progression. I’m guessing Microsoft will be the same.
They don’t really want you switching platforms and spending money else where. I’m surprised BHVR is allowed their own in game store on Xbox.

There is absolutely no reason, none whatsoever that cross-progression can't be implemented between Xbox for console and Xbox for PC. Microsoft and BHVR would only gain money from that arrangement. The lack of cross-progression must be a BHVR issue.

How would Microsoft gain money if people switch from XBox to Steam and never look back?

I didn't say Steam. I said Xbox for PC.
To clarify: Xbox for PC is an app made by Xbox/Microsoft. When you make an Xbox Live account the same account works for both. If a game is made for both PC and Xbox they put the PC version in the Xbox for PC app. For most games if it's offered on both Xbox for console and Xbox for PC you can play and save your progress between the 2. Xbox calls these "play anywhere" games and they are one of the biggest selling points for Xbox, Xbox Live, and Xbox Game Pass. Microsoft has said numerous times they want ALL games to be play anywhere games.
When it comes to DbD it obviously has both an Xbox and PC version. You can play the PC version using an Xbox Live account through the Xbox app. It's even available for free through Game Pass. However, unlike most games BHVR does not allow you to save progress between the 2. There is absolutely no reason to block cross-progression in regards to a single Xbox Live account.

Okay, haven’t seen the XBox PC. Yeah this seems strange but I guess it would still need some kind of implementation on BHVRs side that they are not willing to take because they already have the BHVR account based cross progression and rather want to see XBox joining that? 🤷♂️

Me looking at the possibility of grinding everything again on my PS5 account: "No. I don't think I will."
The grind is a waste of revenue at this point. I'd straight up buy the DLC again if I had a way of getting around the absolutely asinine grind.
