Use portraits/icons in mobile app

Not sure where to ask this. I want to make an app that uses the DBD killer/survivor portraits, perk icons, item icons, etc but do I need to get permission to use them? I'm sure if it's a free/no ad app it would be fine - but what if I were to include ads? This isn't a game and not looking to compete with DBD I just need something that the players would relate to. I don't have an issue giving credit to behavior for their assets if that is needed.
