What does "map control" mean?

I hear a lot of (killer) has bad map control, what does it mean?

    It’s mainly about mobility and being able to pressure gens.

    good example is Freddy. He has great map control as he can easily teleport to any gen. Other examples are Blight, Spirit, Nurse, Hillbilly, Demo.

    on the other side you have killers that are very bad in it, eg Ghostface, Myers, Pig. They can’t traverse the map.

    then you have those in between, Wraith can move pretty fast while cloaked, but once he is there, he is just an M1 killer without the ‚control‘ part of ‚map control‘. Ranged killers can also have great map control but it heavily depends on the map and other factors.
