Proximity

I feel like the developers from DBD should add proximity voice chat, should it would be easier when we are playing with cross Gen or with other players in General, because sometimes they won’t help the survivors that are hooked. Just throwing it out there. If it’s possible

Let killers hear it too, and it'll be fun.

Oh but not in exit gate or near the hatch, for sure.

It would certainly allow the devs to finally balance the game around SWFs. But every time I've suggested this, people have a ton of vague reasons why it won't work for DBD, even though voice chat has worked for every other multiplayer game.

Trust me bro no it won t... In this specific multiplayer Game no... Look for Friday the 13th the game has example, it didn t work very well when people start insult other players for stupid reasons... In DBD on console for example, if you want to insult someone you can easly report him or just turn off the messages. So people won t bother your.

    Chat Wheel (from idv)

Bringing solo survs to extreme swf levels without being able to be very abusable.

The devs already mentioned they’re opposed to localized chats because they think it could break immersion and also because a lot of players don’t want to be distracted by the chatter. I’m kind of ambivalent on it either way since I’m a killer main.

I quite genuinely don't mean to start ######### here, but if what's irking you is specifically that the reasons are vague, I can give you an extremely concrete one:

The thing that makes SWF more powerful than SoloQ isn't that they can talk to one another, it's that they can communicate and be understood. For most server groups in this game, simply implementing a voice chat will not bridge that gap because they do not necessarily share a language with their teammates. Simply put, it wouldn't fix the problem because everyone needs to be on the same page for balancing to be effective.

The information needs to be conveyed neutrally and by the game itself for it to actually be comparable to what SWF have access to.

To the OP, though, I'd love for that to be an option in custom games because it does sound really fun.

The reason people say it wouldn't work for DBD is because mechanically DBD is a very different game compared to other multiplayer games, plus it also wasn't created with voice chat in mind, which is why SWFs are so powerful, and it's why it works in a game like Friday The 13th, because that game was created with prox chat in mind.

Personally I think it would be interesting, but that doesn't mean it would be healthy for the game, or that others would agree. I think if it were to ever be added, the killer shouldn't be able to speak to the survivors, but the killer can hear the survivor's voices at the same range they would be able to hear gen repairs and such, or whatever range you'd be able to hear their footsteps from, but very faintly.

It also might just not work for DBD because most people might just end up not using it at all
