Am I doing something wrong with MMR?

Can anyone tell me how MMR works? I can't find anything solid, and I feel like I must be doing something wrong.

I've been playing for a few months, I play both sides, but lately it seems like either I get thrown in with total noobs (usually when I play on Sunday morning or something) or I get dominated, there's no in-between.

A close match, either side, is fun, one where you feel like you at least had a shot. A blowout is not fun, no matter which side you're on. If you just wipe the floor with them it's boring, and if you get absolutely wrecked a dozen times in a row, it's just rage-inducing.

Like what is EVEN going on? Can I just reset my standing or something?

You can´t do wrong as you can´t see it. It is like magic.

And no, you can´t reset anything.

The MMR should find you fitting teammates or opponents. That can happen sometimes but sometimes not.

The Q times are more important for the system or who is available. Even if you are brand new and the killer is a veteran.

They told they are working on it - i hope this will work someday.

I hope so too, and I hope not long.

I'm on the point of deleting the game, because while I get the occasional blowout in my favor, about 9 times out of 10, I'm getting into matches that feel way too challenging - I'm honest enough about my skills to admit that - or as survivor getting put with a killer that's about right, but teammates who are... not particularly capable.

That, and I seem to be going up against Pig and Ghostface a lot (I don't think I ever played a single match against Pig before 2 weeks ago), and I just can't even with some of their abilities... they feel really broken to me.

The Pig is in the recent tome with challenges - therfore you see it a lot more at the moment.

If you can you can try to play at different times.

There are specific times where the pro SWF groups are playing more - which is usually bad.

At other times and days - depends on you r region - there are a lot more new or Solo Q players which is mostly easier.

If you're playing Killer, good luck. MMR is thrown out completely if a Killer leaves a Lobby, or if an SWF group has been waiting for "too long". It just grabs the first available Killer with complete disregard to their actual MMR and puts them in there. I'm seeing this more and more often, especially on Killers who I know have low MMR because I play them only for dailies and almost always end up with a 4 escape.

Not sure about Survivor. I've been getting some superb matches lately, lot of fun ones even when we do all die. Very rare am I finding myself completely outmatched or stomping a newer Killer. I've been playing a lot more Survivor though, so my MMR might be stabilized for the most part, and not rubberbanding all over as I stomp a group of new players, then get put right into 2-3 matches against SWF groups at the higher levels.

Good info. Thanks, both of you.
