Slugging At End Game Collapse
G'day Guys,
I trust everyone is well and safe.
so not self promoting in anyway or trying to start any arguments, i'm wanting a civil discussion on the topic at hand. So let me give you some context i was streaming and playing as Legion at Gideon Meat Plant, now the survivors had done there objective of starting gens and end game collapse had begun. I managed to hook 2 survivors at the end and sacrificed them to our dear entity lol i had 2 more survivors down stairs of map. Now these two survivors i managed to down, now when i picked up one of them i noticed no hooks where available down stairs so i dropped and slugged to get the win. My question to you is this, Do you feel this is toxic in anyway shape or form. again i would love to hear you opinions on the topic. Again nice a civil please see y'all in the fog.

Winning isn’t toxic. Playing optimally isn’t toxic.

Gameplay is not toxic in my view, unless someone is hacking, or body-blocking someone for the whole match. So no in my view slugging is not toxic. It's boring to get slugged, but gameplay is not toxic.

Nope. You're just trying to secure the kill. Survivors will still whine though
2 -
Winning is not toxic, so long as you're not cheating or abusing exploits. Anyone who says otherwise is a sore loser.
3 -
If you're doing it because you can't hook them safely and this is the way you'd maximize your kills, that's not toxic. If you're doing it because you want to draw out the survivors' anguish and make them rage in endgame chat, that's toxic.
A lot of people assume #2 when they're on the receiving end of something unenjoyable when in actuality there's a gameplay reason behind it. What you were doing wasn't toxic, it was just an unfortunate consequence of how hooks can spawn on vertical maps.

My thoughts exactly

its not the greatest and i agree it is boring, however i was having a rough night lol needed that win. Legion pain i guess

It's not really toxic, but the annoyance factor depends on if they bleed out before EGC finishes. Bleed outs aren't wins, and you don't get any points for them, so for me I'd rather try for a hook and maybe get another chase in. Maybe down them in a location where I can hook them, or they escape, which IDGAF, good on them. But if EGC is going to eat them, no real point in doing the extra work.
1 -
Why aren't bleedouts a win? BHVR has said kills, nothing more and nothing less, are the killers objective.
2 -
If there really were no hook spawns close enough and you had no choice but to bleed them out, then no, it’s not toxic.
You can always try to motion to them to crawl towards a hook if they want the game to end faster.

Nothing in game is toxic.
But being forced to bleed out because you lack confidence to get to a hook sucks.
Why not try to hook some one, and if they wiggle out , win one more chase?
Or, do you lack confidence that you could?
Is a 4k worth, waiting for two people to bleed out?
Guess, that is subjective.

very valid points, i guess it was a quick judgement call i made. I was having a rough night it was getting to end of stream so just wanted to get a win no matter the cost. But this is good criticism and i appreciate everyone's input. In future i will attempt to do better thank you all appreciate your time.

Certainly understandable, sometimes you just need a win!

I was once called out when I said it was a form of grieving when a downed survivor has no hope of escaping through the gate the hatch is closed and they crawl in a corner just to spite you and wait out the four minutes.
I was told that it was my own fault for going fsr enough away that they could crawll away far enough and that some would do the same and fight till the bitter end. Sigh. Whatever, but if the game is over and you got no chance of escape, then such behavior isn't valiant resistance, its just wasting everyone's time to spite the killer, because you are a sore loser. And such behavior I would call grieving.

What you did isn't necessarily toxic, you sometimes have to do what you have to do.
That being said, it doesn't sound like a door was even open if 2 people were sacrificed and 2 were downed in the lower part of the map so if someone wiggled off, what is the worst that would happen? The hatch doesn't even spawn until only 1 person is left.
Additionally, if I was scrolling through the plethora of DBD streamers out there and I saw a killer just waiting out a bleed out timer instead of taking a chance for the hook, I wouldn't be interested in watching. Sometimes the risky play is more exciting, for both you, the survivor, and any potential viewers.

The game gives no bloodpoints when the survivor bleeds out, no MMR, or emblem points from them either, all the killer gets is 250 bleeding points. Kills (mori) and sacrifices are wins, bleed outs are nothing. Bleeding out is a non-action, it just happens, no skill involved.
1 -
Do you have a source that confirms bleeding out doesn't raise MMR?
I could be wrong but according to BHVR a kill is a kill is a kill.

Great thanks for input everyone, we live and learn and evolve.

They never specified about bleed outs. Some streamers bleed out survivors over and over, their MMR never changes, they stay at rock bottom MMR rank after thousands of "kills". I've asked the devs here on the forums to clarify, but they never answered, so I'm going with what I've seen with my own eyes. A "kill" is only a sacrifice or mori. A bleed out is probably set the same as a hatch escape.

Sounds like your other option was to just basically concede and forefit, letting your opponents leave. Bleed out is part of the game and your reason for doing it was "there's no hooks close enough" and not something like "I wanted to teach that guy a lesson for tbagging me!" so no, it's not at all toxic. Maybe the devs should ensure hooks are always close. There's legit no point in playing the game if you are not trying to win, and personally, I don't want a win where I won solely because my opponent conceded due to some bizarre one sided honor code.

thanks man! welcome to The Sushi Society my friend glad to have you aboard

I believe you, but I haven't seen any streamer I watch do this. Can you at least give me a name? I'd love to see what variables they control.

Nothing wrong with leaving someone on the ground if there's no hooks. They always have the option of crawling toward a hook if they actually don't want to wait.
That being said, keep in mind that if a survivor has Boil Over it hides the auras of hooks within 16 meters of you, so I suspect with Boil Over being kind of popular at the moment there are killers (not necessarily you the original poster but in general) that don't see an aura and neglect to actually look around for a nearby hook that isn't highlighted. I only mention it because it's unusual for The Game to not have any hooks available on the lower level.
