What do y'all think?

Still not really a fan but it just sounds less abuseable already. Hopefully combining this and the RPD hook spawn changes will make it a lot less frustrating
2 -
Well hopefully that will minimize Troll Squads abusing it to bring the game to a crawl.
I'm still irked by how bad the side to side is still stupid strong against console but we'll see how this goes.

Nice.

I mean look at it this way, if you wiggle 20%, and the killer drops, you'll get 6.6% of wiggle progress, it's a very good nerf & change imo.
16 -
It's a good change, but wiggle progression when dropped was never a good idea, especially since the smallest of drops count
16 -
If killer can see you have this perk, still garbage. At least, it is not abusable anymore.
But why killer is seeing you have this perk, i never understand.
0 -
Everything goes back to before it got buffed. Besides adept Kates, noone will run it. Same as what happened to Lucky Break.
18 -
Probably so people aren't confused as to why they can't see hooks, I think.
8 -
Another perk you won’t see, like MoM or BL or OoO
6 -
The killer is seeing the perk icon because it’s inflicting a negative condition on the killer.
8 -
Consistency? If a perk is affecting you (on either side), you tend to get to see it somehow. Though for Killers this is mostly Boil Over and DS.
1 -
Well, point of this perk confuse killer. If killer knows you have this perk, they will check area for hooks. This perk never hurted except new version. Now perk is not abusable but still garbage.
0 -
And another dead perk.
14 -
Wow, Killers must have dropped like flies for BHVR to change something this quickly.
5 -
While I was not a fan of the buffed Boil Over, I dont think the Perk will be used at all now. (I think the 25% Wiggle Progress would also not been used after a while, because at some point it becomes boring to troll the Killer with Boil Over)
At least I may be able to get some good laughs because some people might think it got buffed because 33 is bigger than 25...
7 -
It's for the best, but I'm sad that it was taken so soon. I wanted to use it with Power Struggle but it's bugged with the new Wiggle controls now (DS is too)
Survivor Squads can make literally anything work, and Boil Over was the most recent so it got the most attention, from both side.
I like to imagine survivors using Slippery Meat and getting that nerfed and called OP. Because you can get the unhook to well past 100%, with minimal offering/perk stacking, as long as 2+ survivors are on board.
0 -
And this makes perk garbage. This perk was dead already and seem like it will stay dead forever.
2 -
Less abusable for sure. 33% of the current wiggle progress is a very healthy change - it means that in the most instances, the wiggle when the drop occurs will be a smaller amount. But you still have the other benefits of the perk as well...so definitely not a dead perk.
13 -
Hmm, interesting change. Makes it so it you immediately do a drop right after picking a survivor up they get very little boost, but if you make a drop most of the way to a hook it could easily bump them free.
I’m curious to see how this pans out. Personally the height thing never came up in my own games, the increased stagger though has cost me a few hooks.
0 -
Not necessarily a good change, but I think it will do its job. Less abusable, so It should stop people like myself from messing around with it with my friends 😂

This is great. Thank you. This will make the game healthier since killers dont have to slug and bleed survivors or just afk the whole match, and survivors dont have to wait out 4 minutes to die on the ground.
1 -
How? With like the no progress that would fill their bar even more than just 25%?
edit: I’m an idiot
0 -
How is the perk dead? I know I’ve personally lost a few hooks to the increased stagger.
0 -
I know that it's a small amount I just personally dislike it and probably always will now because of the terror of the past week.
0 -
Welp, back to never seeing Boil Over again. Bwahahaha. And have they released any pending changes for DMS?
5 -
Don’t think so

This sounds way better. I'm still a bit cautious, but in most abuse cases, the drop comes at the start of the journey to the hook. Stronger areas would be RPD library, Eyrie, and Thompson House, but even then, it's not nearly as strong as it was before.
This sounds way more useful for killers trying to take you into the basement, and way less useful for going 'neener neener can't touch me' on top of a building like Asylum. I think the only other change I would like is so that it has a cooldown between fires, so you don't get hit twice in less than a second trying to go down folded stairs like there are on Eyrie, especially when the increased stagger bumps you around - but that might not be necessary.
Overall - thank you. I'm very glad we've been listened to here.

How many times you saw this perk before new version? SWF abused this perk and now after this nerf, even they will not use (This is good change). But problem is, perk is still garbage. And if you are thinking this perk will be common, i would disagree with you. I don't think i will see this perk except Adept Kate gamers.
1 -
I guess this sounds like a healthy change. But what will those people say that always claim only survs problems are getting adressed quickly by the devs?
(this is a rhetorical question, as always they will say this is just an exception)
4 -
Tfw you havent even tested the perk and call it dead.
1 -
because killers always drop when they catch you, they don’t wait 5-10 secs so you could use the perk. And also they would know you have it. I can ensure you’ve you won’t see 1 boil over in the entire year if not used for adept
1 -
So we'll go back to seeing this perk as often as before the recent buff, which is never.
9 -
There is nothing that needs testing. Hoping everyone here can read and do basic math.
0 -
Well, that's why it's a perk and not basekit
0 -
Sound pretty weak but still a buff compared to pre 5.5.0 boil over.
I guess in very rare cases it can make a difference to a basement hook.
0 -
It was never a good perk to begin with. It only works if you dedicate a whole build to it. I just want mettle of man to be buffed
1 -
Killer mains crying, perk gets nerfed.
Very well known strategy.
8 -
If they wanted keep this perk bad, why they worked to buff it. Because nothing changed. Boil Over was dead perk and after this buff it will not be more common.
WoO, Vigil, Built to Last had good buffs at last update. I disliked new update.
1 -
Yes, about the same probability as the killer dc when he brings you to the hook and has an internet failure
0 -
It was used so little to begin with it's going back to being used by basically nobody. I love when the "meta" changes for survivor a tiny bit killers immediately want it gone. It happened with CoH too. Every time without fail.
7 -
Yeah I'm not a fan of this change at all. 33% of the current progress makes the drop down part of the perk pretty useless. I doubt we're going to see the perk that much anymore.
2 -
I would have preferred a different change entirely. I just don't think the wiggle progress on drops is a good effect. But at least it will be less abuseable and this was changed rather quickly. Good job, BHVR.

I don’t know how common or uncommon it will be, but I can say as a killer main I’ve lost hooks to the stagger on it so it’s not “garbage”.
0 -
Like I don't think the perk should have been buffed the way it was, but let's not pretend that killers who have a survivor in a high place don't drop down as fast as they can, I would say at max any survivor in a building would be able to get to about 10% - 15% max, that's only 3.3 - 5% wiggle from the drop.
0 -
I’m a killer main, I’ve personally lost hooks to the stagger on Boil Over. (Falling from a height hasn’t impacted me, the stagger has though.) But hey, if survivors don’t use it that’s fine by me! 😄
1 -
You’ll be happy, you’ll see
1 -
I never lost any hook against this perk. And actually i didn't see this perk before so much. Maybe max 100 times but i doubt it. From 2018 to today, 4 years. And this perk will not change. Still on deadzone.

A perk that lets you break free on your own without any teammates intervening for you has to be either weak or very conditional, because if it's both strong and unconditional, it normalizes undoing a killer's chase for just the investment of a perk. That's inherently unbalanced. DS is an example of it done right - part because it's not always available, part because you can't keep doing it when it is available. (I do think it would be fine if current DS could fire twice, once for each hook state, but the point is that it's not unlimited.)
Boil Over was just way too easy to abuse and the emergent gameplay around it was completely miserable. It was conditional, but the conditions were too easy to trigger deliberately and there was no limit on how much you could do it. Meanwhile, if you didn't run to dead zones where it was impossible for the killer to hook you, it was still a really bad perk that was unlikely to give you any value in any given match. Especially without map offerings, because most maps have little or no verticality.
That's the worst kind of perk you could have - powerful if you're trolling, worthless if you're playing normally. From where I'm standing, something like that is better off staying dead than existing in that state.
9 -
I definitely won't be running it anymore. Back to my old meta.
And as a killer, boil over didn't bother me
0 -
The benefits aren't worth the slot. There's a reason people didn't complain about the hook aura and struggle effects because both are meh. Maybe 33% of current progress or a minimum percentage if your progress is too low, whichever is greater. Even then, it's still mediocre. The Killer can easily counter by dropping asap, so you get 33% of 1%.
Speaking of hooks, the hook target radius is too large. The Killer can walk up to the side and click hook then it snaps them in position. It should require you to stand in front.
