The Cenobite (Hellraiser)
Apart from being the most boring killer in the game. Am I missing something with the chains when actually trying to solve the lament configuration?
I picked it up, repeatedly tried solving (not tapping) & for around 30 seconds it wouldn't let me as the chains kept hitting me. Would get to 20-30% progress and a new chain would reset it. I tried moving round corners to different positions to prevent the chains but they kept coming one by one. Cenobite was nowhere near me so I know I wasn't being targeted by his power.
On a separate note, do PC players have to press the same button to break a chain which is also the button that drops a pallet?

Solve the Lament Configuration early. Do not procrastinate. Cenobite is not going to give up a chase with someone else to teleport to the box, so why in the world did you just let it sit until it was already active (unless his Iri is in play)?

You also dont want to try until hes chasing someone else so he has to decide either the box or the survivor hes chasing. It also helps to go into areas hes easy to dodge

Yep. Fun and well designed killer power, right?
Being unable to do what the game is telling you to do, not because your opponent is blocking you, but because the game itself is.
4 -
He got to it first, it relocated & activated before I could get across the other side of the map to it. I can't teleport.
Every other time I've solved it when the chains are active, the chains stop attacking as soon as it is being attempted to be solved. This time it didn't. I can't remember the names of the add-ons he had but none of their descriptions aided this mechanic.
So the question is...should the chains still be spawning & striking during the attempted solve?

I generally take it to a place I can loop before solving. Also, I won't wait for him to be in a chase before solving if I've not been on the hook and the others have.

I just love me some Pinhead counters. Take box to try to solve it, chains. Hold onto it, chains and perma-oblivious status. Try to solve it, let him teleport on top of you. Or at least give away your position.

It spawns 3 chains 3 times before pausing for 12 seconds, after which it repeats. Break the chains manually, not environment, and then solve during the break.

That is not what was happening.

Killer powers do not exist to give you an easy game. Chain hunt is the majority of the power that pinhead has. Pinhead is a bit like Oni or Plague, his power is only there if you let him get it. Pinhead can't see his own box, if he picked it up and activated it, he deserves the chain hunt and you can deal with some chains while trying to solve it.

It's either bug or you playing super badly.

But it makes it impossible to solve if the chains keep hitting you. That is exactly my point - I've never seen it happen to anyone before. They pick it up, the jingle plays & the chains relent unless The Cenobite intervenes before it is solved.

They said they fixed this, but here we are.

I got to face this killer for the first time today, actually.
I must say his power is...weird. He is unique, though not exactly in a good kind of way.
And I got hit by the same bug you did, too.

certainly did NOT fix it
ha;pens to me all the time

dodge the 3 chains coming at you with the environment then solve it immediately. might help it
also i think ur referring to freddy as the most boring killer in the game

youre not listening
the window between more chains is like 5 seconds. you cant solve it
1 -
No m1 is to break chains and space bar is to throw pallets. I think nemesis is more boring, cenobite is just super annoying to go against (if thats what you meant). I'm sure if they revealed each killers dc rate, his would be high

oh but i am listening, because it IS possible. you have to be smart with it and have to learn what it actually does

Sometimes people just greed it too much with the box, try to finish just this gen etc. before they make a run for the box and then the chain hunt is already started. In that case you have to dodge the first wave and hope for the best, ie dodge good and use the 12s window to solve the box.
I personally try to get moving to fetch the box when the timer is half full, not later. And it mostly works out ;unless I run into the Cenobite on the way.

That last bit is true.

Survivors in my games and myself can solve the box everytime.
If you think you encountered bug, report it in bug section

Why is a killer always referred to as boring, when people don´t like his power?
Personally i find his power interesting, since it gives the killer a choice if he wants to continue a chase or go for the box.
5 -
It's not a bug, the chains are supposed to attack you while holding the box. Dodge 3 chains and you can solve it with no issue

Many survivors in my Cenobite games prove you wrong time and time again. It is perfectly doable to solve the configuration when the Chainhunt is active even with this bug.
Because if they admit that it is a "strong power" they will get told that they are just crybabies. If they say "boring" then that implies that they "can deal with it" and it is just "no fun". That way they doge the argument that maybe they have to step up their game against certain Killers.
I like his power too. Faced a few Cenobites and I love that you now have another objective to play with. Also you are pretty much free to go to a safe space to solve the configuration even with the chainhunt active. Nearly every map has some area where you can do this no problem.
Good survivors also manage the time quit well, picking up the box, doing generators and solving it at around 80% charge. Spine Chill seems to be a real kicker here to to get caught with the box.

Yeah, that could be it. I remember how Original Freddy was also called boring, when he was the weakest killer in the roster.
Some people don´t seem to like varying gameplay and always want to face the same killer it seems.

I play survivor with a controller on PC and found the button overlap to be super aggravating as well. I changed the key binding for pallet drops/vaults/actions to X/Square and left the gen/save/heal button as is. That took care of the issue for me.

His complaints are probably the same across most players, the Cenobite is too strong in regular matches. Now survivors are overwhelmed with another objective on top of it all. And if it doesn't get done, everything comes to a screeching halt. With Ruin, Plaything (Cenobite Perk), and having an anti-loop power, I wasn't surprised he is the most deadly killer. Survivors have too much to do when the killer only has one thing to do.

Sluzzy, I generally agree with you. But his power is entirely counterable. He has one of the hardest powers to use in the game for a generally pretty weak effect. He does have the highest kill in the game, but Nurse has the lowest. And the reason for both is due to bad players. Nurse can't be played by bad players and bad players can't verse PinHead. And by bad players I mean those who ignore the box. You don't have to be an amazing looper, you don't have to even be able to stealth, but if you can't be bothered to take the risk and solve the box then yes you're a bad player and if there is only one person in a group that is willing to take that risk then they'll basically tunnel themselves out of the game and get their team killed. But the rules to the game are very straight forward and the counter is there for everyone of any skill level.

Honestly I think the cenobite is the most fun killer to play as and against in the game. Having the box as a second objective really makes things dynamic although I'm probably one of the few people insane enough to make it their priority to go for the box every single time as survivor, I also like to see how many times I can escape with the box too. Good stuff.

It's just a bug, I play on PS4 and the same thing has happened to me.

Freddy was awesome before his nerf. There was so much fun to playing survivor against him & a good challenge.
Then they nerfed him to prevent his slow down, barely anyone plays him now but they introduced Cenobite. Only the most die hard players have fun playing against the circumcised cactus.

I know this is not a Freddy topic just after reading your comment I can honestly say after his nerf, I haven't played against a Freddy in over 100 public matches at least.

I'm only giving an estimate but it's been roughly 3 matches of Freddy in 6 months for me. Such a shame for such an imposing character.
