Release Makeup-Free "Pink Balayage" Yui Head in Store
A lot of cosmetics get recolors, and many customers prefer the Pink Balayage cosmetic the way it was originally released: makeup-free (as in, without the new heavy makeup). There are a bunch of Yui cosmetics for sale where the difference between each is just the color of the speed shades, which is barely noticeable. For the Pink Balayage cosmetic, the difference is severe, making it actually worth having both in the store. Since it was released makeup-free and then changed, the head obviously already exists. This means more cosmetic sales for BHVR without the work of designing a brand new cosmetic.
The head with makeup could be differentiated with the name "Pink Balayage (Fierce)." Or the original head could be "Pink Balayage (Day)" and the one with makeup could be "Pink Balayage (Night)" (in reference to the tendency for night makeup to be bolder).
A lot of players bought the head when it was makeup-free and are now unhappy because the cosmetic was changed into something they'll never wear (that may seem harsh, but it's true: people usually either love or hate heavy makeup). Since it turns out the cosmetic was originally intended to have makeup, it seems unlikely it would be reverted, but releasing the makeup-free cosmetic people purchased as a recolor is hopefully a reasonable request. It would be a win for everyone.
Whether a customer buys cosmetics with Auric Cells or Shards, cosmetics are expensive. (Purposefully so, since they're optional and don't affect gameplay, that way chapters can stay inexpensive and more people have access to them.) Keeping the cost of cosmetics in mind, it's frustrating to purchase a specific Very Rare cosmetic and then have something different in inventory. (Especially when the customer feels extremely negatively towards that "something different.")
Perspective for anyone who thinks this isn't worth attention: Players are upset over not receiving 6000 Shards for the Bubba masks. The one Yui head cost 7200 Shards.

This is just straight up scummy and hopefully Behavior does the right thing, so far Behavior hasn't done that many deplorable things, but this is very morally questionable.

Meanwhile I still just want David's abs that I paid for back.

I hear you there. And I really want back the glowing Day of the Dead cosmetics that they turned flat white. Opposite of what happened here with Yui's makeup, they changed the Day of the Dead cosmetics to be different than their artwork.
Not sure I'd say scummy. More like a knee-jerk reaction that lacked business sense. They forgot the makeup and added it back, and I guess since they forgot it they thought, "Oh, well, since we didn't notice it was missing in the first place, it must not be a big deal." Except, it is a big deal; it's very noticeable to everyone but them. They didn't realize people who bought it without the makeup probably wouldn't want it with the makeup.
Since it was a knee-jerk reaction, they didn't even stop to think, "Hey, this is a digital product without material costs or overhead. We can just release a second version with the makeup so that everyone gets what they want."
So, here we are. Now I'm having to submit requests to get the thing I bought in the first place because I didn't see the artwork before purchasing to ask, "Huh, is this something they'll change?" This is going to seriously make me rethink putting my Cells or Shards into their pixel outfits, though. Cosmetics aren't gameplay related, but I still apparently can't trust the thing I purchase today will be what I have tomorrow.

Just an update, I had submitted a ticket a week ago about this and today BHVR refunded me the Shards for the head (and removed it from my inventory, of course) and gave me some BP for the inconvenience. I just wanted to let you guys know that 1. they're not dishonest or anything (which I never said they were! just, you know, impulsive) and they did make things right, and 2. if you bought the head before the change and no longer want it, you can submit a ticket and get a refund.
This doesn't change my original post in any way. I do still want the makeup-free Pink Balayage Yui head, and I think in the future they should release an alternate version of something rather than make changes to a cosmetic people already purchased. Customers don't want to submit a ticket and get a refund; they just want to keep the thing they purchased in the first place.
