Can't hook people with Boil Over
Hi, I play on console. That means I play with a controller. Due to the new boil over I can barely move when I pick up a survior with this perk. I have played this game for years. I know how to make the wiggle work in your favor if you lean into it. But with these new changes to boil over it does not matter what I do, I can barely move. I'm sure I'm not the only console killer experiencing this. Every game if someone has boil over I cannot hook them. Ar first I thought they were cheating. I legitimately thought the survior was cheating because I could barely move. But no, its every game.
This is ridiculous and is exclusively an issue on console. This needs to change.

I have this same problem. It's practically like I'm stuck in place if someone has Boil Over. If a single survivor gets anywhere near me in an attempt to body block, I am stuck in place.

I'm just not going to play killer until this is fix. It's miserable.
1 -
Anyone has Boil Over and they don't go down under a hook, they get to bleed out for a while. That's how I've handled it so far.
8 -
Iron Grasp.....that's all I'm going to say.....
2 -
I've noticed that they've started bringing unbreakable with boil over because they know we cant hook them.
0 -
Yes an extremely unviable perk that does nothing else other that allow me hook people. Something I should be able to do without a damn perk.
4 -
There's a hack that straight up prevents you from moving but other than that it's manageable with correct strafe timing.
2 -
I have had it actually push me back a couple of times when you hit against a wall to slide. I donβt know what the deal is.
2 -
This isnt a hack. It's a console exclusive issue.
0 -
Aha, its a controller issue. Gotcha.
0 -
You can sway your camera the opposite direction when boil over sways you to have it carry you.
0 -
I thought it was me.
0 -
As usual, Console gets the short-end of the stick.
You know what would help?
Better controller settings that almost every other game has.
15 -
Console is unoptimized then I guess? I don't know what the issue is then. I play on PC and I struggle but if I correct my strafe timing it's fine.

Then don't complain about Boil Over when you have a way to counter it.....Boil Overs soul purpose is to make carrying survivors difficult. Iron Grasp helps when other survivors try to body block you as well. If you still don't want to use Iron Grasp and see Boil Over and you can't reach a hook just slug them.
Yes I have heard that controllers have a harder time with wiggle mechanics so why not use a perk to help midigate it a little bit. I use Boil Over and it become a normal struggle against a Killer with Iron Grasp.
0 -
It sounds frustrating but best thing you can do is run iron grasp or agitation if youβre like sick of dealing with it.
0 -
The fact that we need iron grasp to counter survivors with boil over is just ridiculous.

One quick tip, don't forget to check for nearby hooks before you pick someone up. Boil Over hides the auras of hooks within 16 meters so if you forget to check then you could be trying to carry them a lot farther than you need to.
But yeah, that stagger is pretty wild! I've had trouble getting through entryways and getting stuck on rocks sometimes while carrying people with Boil Over. I don't necessarily think the perk is overpowered, though. I can only speak for myself, but I know Boil Over survivors aren't even getting one save per match on average against me with it so I don't really consider the stagger broken. It's just something I have to be aware of, kind of like Decisive Strike or Lithe or Balanced Landing, etc.

I don't know if it's happened for anyone else, but I honestly have been stuck in place without even touching anything. Like, I can't push my thumb stick any harder, it's as far as it goes and it's still pulling me, or stopping me.
1 -
The issue that people are complaining about, is that they shouldn't have to use a perk slot for the sole reason they are on a specific platform.
13 -
They cant move its not they escape
1 -
Honestly this was an issue with even old boil over. I canβt imagine this on lerys with the new one
1 -
still totally absurd that console doesn't have mouse and keyboard support. god forbid console players catch a break in this already miserable game
5 -
Does this mean we could get some feedback passed to the relevant team for improved controller support pretty please? π₯Ί
5 -
Tbf, the modern controllers already have rather short sticks by design.... ah ... I know, that one was terrible, right?
0 -
Normal wiggle was like old boil over for console. You can't hold forward while strafing to deal with the sway like you can with pc. The changes to this perk were a disaster and none of them should have made it past the first QA tester (lol as if they pay to test anything)
2 -
for sure
7 -
Im tired of asking for MnK support for consoles at this point

in pc i would move my camera down and only use the A-D movement keys and it feels like boil over makes me faster. maybe you could translate this to console? right joystick down, left joystick only move left and right?

I give you points for creativity but subtract points for making a pun.
Verdict? RPD Library.

I play console too and unless someone is very close to a hook it is near impossible and if you have to go around a corner or in a jungle gym it is even worse as you can get trapped at walls, corners and structures. I feel like if they are at certain spots I MUST slug them and hope for bleed out as my only option to eliminate that player.

Seriously I was tired of the people suggesting that killers should run iron grasp and I'm glad that you said this
8 -
Actually that can slow ya a little. The input delay before you can move or strafe can feel like quicksand on console
0 -
well that's really the only solution.
0 -
Yeah, I hope you have a clear path to wherever you're going cause if not, you're gonna get stuck on EVERYTHING on the way to the hook.
I literally couldn't get out of a room in Midwich when someone had Boil Over in one hook attempt. Nurse just kept getting stuck in the door. You'd think at some point Boil Over would have accidentally shoved me out the damn door but evidently there was just a force field in the way
3 -
Oof, thats harsh. I must exert some Iron Grasp over myself, otherwise my emotions would Boil Over just by the mentioning of that name.
1 -
Do you think you could grab a clip and show me?
0 -
Iron Will would've worked better
0 -
Holly should've helped
1 -
Oh I had to play through that, they wiggled out like 5 times, I was on PC
0 -
I really wish I would have grabbed a clip at the time but I was so damn frustrated that I didn't.
Boiled Over has fallen back into the realm of niche perk and I don't play nearly as much as I used to but I will grab a clip of that situation happens to me again.
In the games defense, that was the one and only time I LITERALLY could not leave the room due to BO (my assumption is because of the Nurse's slower walking speed that she couldn't get the "momentum" to push out of the room). You still get caught on random crap all the time but that was an outlier when I couldn't leave the room.

They already nerfed that perk into the ground.. Honestly they shouldnt have nerfed it in the first place.. because that perk can be countered easily with Agitaiton and/or Iron Grasp. But people refused to try different perks and wanted to stick to their classic meta builds.. therefore it got nerfed.
Its weak at its current state and if anything, it needs a buff. I understand the frustration this may have caused for console players.. but this doesnt change the fact that Boil Over is weak

Why do you think I'm looking at getting a new cat!?!? Holly just sits there being adorable. Which while also good, she can't just be a pretty face in the office, she needs to earn her keep damn it!
0 -
But what if the new kitty and Holly just both sit there looking adorable? You'll just have to get a third ππ
2 -
Hey, I'm a single guy living alone in a house. At this point, I might as well embrace being the crazy cat lady until one of these furry bastards help me play DBD...
HA HAAAA...

Yeah i feel this even on ps5 so i can't speak for last gens but on certain areas i can't even move. Midwich i can't get out a fricken door to save my life. Sometimes i just can't do anything but get drug to the side over and over unable to outpace the wiggle pull. It's so bad.
2 -
Do you really think the wiggle bar is not supposed to ever work? It exists because it is supposed to give a chance to wiggle free. Since they added hooks to every map and nerfed sabotage it has been made nearly useless. So it is no surprise that killer's like this one have started to feel entitled to guaranteed hooks. That is not the case. A down does not automatically equal a hook.
Use Iron Grasp if you are worried about making it to the hook. If you know a survivor has this and you didn't bring Iron Grasp, slug them. Then you can use them as bait and hook the other survivor or just ignore them until everyone else is dealt with. If they all have it then you will just have to wish you brought Iron Grasp.

In the end it didn't matter, because I was on my Lucky Break, so go figure.

Number of hook spawn is a part of this problem, not the perk. I just played 2 matches in Midwich (with Sabo perk, nothing else).
- Vs Huntress with 7 hooks. Despite she had Startruck, I managed to save 3 hook stage, and this is far too much for only 1 perk (my Sabo) in play.
- Vs Spirit with 9 hooks. I was able to save 1 hook by tanking a hit and Sabo.
