Are You Gonna Try Sadako Tomorrow?
Tomorrow is PTB. New killer, new survivor and Haddonfield Rework on table and maybe even new map? Are you gonna test PTB or you will pass?

I will watch someone else showcase new killer and haddon rework to me instead. Like I always do since Im on console.
But even if I was on PC, I probably wouldnt download PTB just for this

I'm at least going to install and log in so I can check everything out, even if I don't end up playing. I'm curious to see what's what!
1 -
I'll look at it.
I don't really think there's gonna be much hype for Sadako. Ringu is cool and I like new licenses, but considering it's not The Ring and is instead Ringu AND it was announced months ago, I don't expect there to be much hype.
My prediction is that the Survivor and Sadako will both be extremely OP because that's the only way I see them selling well.
also is it bad that i don't want a new map? the last two were midwich (yuck) and RPD (literally the worst)

Yeah console gamers have not chance test PTB. I hope you enjoy while watching.

I always love new maps, even they are bad. All licensed maps are bad, even Hawkins was so bad map. But they are doing good with original maps. I loved Artist's map. So i would not mind if Ringu comes with new map.

I forgot Artist had a map but it's also horrible.
Not as bad as RPD, but about the level of old Ormond.

I’ll take a look, sure. Now that the update time has drastically decreased, it makes it a whole lot more appealing to do a quick check.

The American remake is quite well known, though not particularly relevant twenty years later. I imagine most of the people who still care about it have since experienced the original Japanese works and probably prefer those. And in Asia and many other places the character was one of the most hyped potential licensed killers. I'd actually say Sadako is overall much more recognizable than Pinhead.

I had never heard of The Ring at all before it was announced.
Supposedly, most of DBD's players are around 17, so they would've been born well after the movie came out.
1 -
its very unlikely that we will get a new map, as the roadmap said 2 new maps for this year and we already got em.
Also… is Haddonfield confirmed to get the rework this chapter?

? It’s very well known, so is the American version “the ring”
1 -
It was all over the place twenty years ago. Everybody knew about it even if they hadn't seen it.
2 -
i'll check twitter to see what the power is so i know whether or not i have to eat paper again
1 -
I am sure most people probably never heard about Sadako (original killer) but Samara (American version) is well known. Probably Samara made this franchise popular, first Ring movie is one of the best horror movies.
Why you are gonna eat paper? Again? Did you eat before? 🤔

After the security issue with the last PTB definitely not.
1 -
I don't really care about the Killer at all if I'm being honest. I just hope that the new perks are cool. I know that @Anniehere will probably be interested to try the killer out though.
1 -
Which security issue are you talking about?

If you are talking about the IP leak that hackers could exploit for DDOS attacks, that's still in the main game every lobby you enter lol

The Ring is extremely well known, though, around the whole globe. Every single person who's interested in horror even little bit, knows Ring's shticks of girl with long black hair coming out of a static TV and phone calls that tell you you're gonna die in seven days. The whole thing is probably more recognizable by wide audience than Candyman, Hellraiser and, arguably, even Saw, Silent Hill, RE and TCM are. So it is super well-known, at the very least as a concept, if not franchise. The reason why it's unlikely to generate much hype isn't its "well-knownness", but its irrelevancy as of now (franchise had no big well-received releases in the recent years at all and overall isn't talked about as much as it was in 90s) and more importantly - current state of DbD itself, with a ton of people being displeased with BHVR's decisions, actions and priorities.

I thought it was the day after tomorrow, on the 15th? I have 2.1 million bloodpoints saved up. I will need to see if she looks fun to determine whether to hold them for 3 weeks or not. If she looks good, I do not mind not earning any bloodpoints for awhile. But if she is closer to Artist, I am going to just spend them on... Idk, a random killer I do not care about, I guess.
It might depend on the survivor. I really enjoyed Ryuji as a character, so I would maybe unironically use him even though he is not a waifu.

Would love to, but ya know, console...

Time zones I guess. Tomorrow is the 15th for many :)
1 -
I suppose. I guess I just meant we couldn't even start a 24 hour countdown yet.
0 -
Ah sure I'll give it a go. Why not.
2 -
I'd never even heard of it.
I even asked my friends and they didn't know it either.
It seems like it was super popular a bit and then faded out before I was born.
0 -
Yeah, I'd never even heard of that before it was announced and I definitely wouldn't have known that there was a Japanese version either.
I could see an argument for Candyman being less well-known.
However, Hellraiser has a cult following and I've seen some stuff posted about reviving the series or something so I was familiar with it a bit. RE and Silent Hill are/were huge franchises that I most certainly was familiar with when I was growing up. I even remember the horrible Silent Hill movies getting ads on TV. TCM is pretty much considered the father of Slashers and is a classic.
It seems like from my research of The Ring is that it was released at a poor time. The concept doesn't really make sense anymore and it seems like the novelty wore off pretty fast. Seems like something my parents would like tho

Honestly, it's a case of "I've never heard of it myself, so it isn't popular/ I've heard of it so many times so it is popular, you are just weird not to know about it".
Even if it isn't for the franchise itself to be popular, Sadako/Samara is DEFINETLY well known. I myself didn't know what L4D was, so I wasn't excited when Bill came out, but I never said it wasn't popular because I don't know it.
Rest assured, The Ring/Ringu is one of the most well known horror franchises ever.
2 -
Why doesn't anyone ever talk about it then?
I've never heard it brought up in the monthly "next Killer for DBD is X" threads. If nobody ever talks about it, how am I supposed to be clued in that it's actually extremely popular?
It didn't even chart in the poll done on Twitter about most wanted licenses.
I'm not saying it isn't popular. I'm just saying that nobody has ever given me any indication that it is.

On the topic of this, if it's possible given current image + link restrictions, would people be at all interested in a showcase of the new PTB content as a Forum post?
5 -
Because for a game built on the slasher subgenre most people aren't thinking of a killer from the psychological horror subgenre.
3 -
Have you ever seen a reference to a creepy girl with long black hair crawling out of a TV? The Ring.
Have you ever heard a joke about needing to show someone else a thing within seven days? The Ring.
Not many people are aware of it firsthand, so to speak, but it has a place in pop culture just as entrenched as The Texas Chainsaw Massacre or Nightmare On Elm Street; parts of it have been bandied around a ton, and among horror circles it's well known. I don't know it either by name, but as soon as someone mentioned one of those two things when explaining it, I knew what it was.
I hadn't personally heard of a bunch of the licenses in this game, but they're still well known. I'm not sure why you're fighting this concept so hard?
1 -
If it doesn't take you too long, I would be interested.
I always read those posts of yours.

2 reasons i can say:
- She never used any weapon, so she is not classic slasher. So probably people thought she will never fit on DbD. Even now i don't know what BHVR will do with her.
- Ringu was good movie, first The Ring was also so good. But other movies were pretty bad, so franchise was not active so much. But people know who is Samara (Sadako), even they don't watch movies.
Please, yes. It is good idea.
0 -
I'm not fighting it. I'm explaining why I didn't think it was popular.
And no, I've never seen any references to either of those things. I also don't normally run in those circles that would know it. Most of the people on the Forums probably know more than me about modern horror.

I'll sure to check it out but i'm in a small break noe so i probably won't play untill she is released

Is the first movie actually good or is it just a cult classic?
I'm gonna watch it either way, I'd just like to be prepared lmao

also is it bad that i don't want a new map? the last two were midwich (yuck) and RPD (literally the worst)
New maps are part of the life blood of this game, a new place to hide or die is always welcome.
Dont listen to Pulsar Devs, New maps good. Please we DO want new maps.

The Ring/Ringu was exceedingly successful for a horror movie at the time. There was a boom from like 1998 - 2010 for Asian/Asian style horror (and what were generally poor American remakes, a trend in which The Ring was an exception), and the Ring was at the forefront of it.
I don't think it's a stretch to say The Ring/Ringu is one of the most noteworthy/iconic horror properties of the last 25 years. Samara/Sadako coming out the TV is one of the creepiest and most enduring horror images of all time, imo.
I might agree that it is better known than Candyman, except the recent Candyman movie has pushed it back into the Meta, and you know, recency bias.
I am excited and nervous about this chapter, and I want so badly for it to live up to the source material as well as pioneer some new mechanics, but BHVR hasn't inspired confidence recently.
I also think Candyman has massive potential to be a really cool killer, but that's another discussion.

NO
You have to specify!
We want good new maps.

Im already Sadako main ᕦ(ò_óˇ)ᕤ

Most horror movies bores me but The Ring 1 is really good one. It has good story. But probably you heard so much spoilers: Type, Samara, her powers etc. But even with that, it is good movie.
0 -
Well, afterall, you just never heard of it and that's fine. When I first got into DBD in May 2016, I had no knowledge of the horror genre. I didn't know who Myers was, Jason was, Freddy was etc. But in time I learnt a lot about the genre, and Ringu is definitely a big name.
And yes, it doesn't fit into DBD considering it's not a slasher movie. People literally die because Sadako puts such images in their head they die. It's not the traditional gore porn dbd licenses brought in.

I would've been, well, not alive when it started and pretty young when it ended.
I was informed that she never really uses a weapon in the movie. I wonder how that's going to work? I can't really see her slashing at people like Demogorgon or punching them like Nemesis

Can't you watch a movie that came out a few years before you was born? Ringu/ TheRing is actually well known among horror fans.
1 -
The only people who play PTB here are absolute sweaters. Think I'll avoid that hell.
3 -
Alright, I'll grab my friend who is terrified of the first Jurassic Park movie because it's "too scary".
0 -
My experience in Australia, you say the Ring and basically anyone could tell you what it is. Growing up everyone I knew had seen it.
1 -
Now those movies I do remember being around.
That's kind of exaggerating, I went to go see one of the last (2nd to last?) Harry Potter movies and there was a preview for Final Destination 5, I think?
0 -
Yeah, I'm a big fan. If Sadako is any good at all, there's a virtual certainty I'm a main.
