Switching from console to PC, soliciting advice

So I am in the process of transitioning from PS5 to PC (would like cross progression at some point so I can retain all my items earned over 2+ years, kplzthanx BHVR), and wanted to solicit some advice on my peripherals.

I know all the PC gamers are like M+KB, duh, but I though I know this will trigger a lot of people, but I am entertaining the notion of using M+KB for killer, but controller for survivor.

Why? Because while the mouse is undeniably a quantum leap over the controller for aiming/tracking, WASD feels awful for movement, especially on survivor. Not so much tor the twitchy movements/strafing, which WASD is great for, but for smooth curving and hugging walls/loops, for which it feels janky af compared to a good analog stick.

I'm also weighing the possibility of the hybrid option for both: using the Controller + Mouse, which I have heard and seen others use in other games to spectacular effect.

So to my actual questions: does anyone use Controller + Mouse? To those who use controller on PC, which controller do you use, and do you have any recommended settings?

Using controller + mouse in DbD is NOT advised as there is an acknowledged bug where FPS drop massively while trying to play like this. And I mean really massive drops. It’s been a known bug for a while and as other controller problems the devs don’t seem to be in a hurry to fix it.

playing only with controller though -especially for survivors - shouldn’t be a problem at all. And you are already used to controllers in DbD anyways. Steam (and other third party software) allow further controller settings and I would advise to use these. Especially for response curves and dead zones.

I also am using a controller with gyro aim which I use for aiming with a flashlight. It… sometimes even works like a charm :) other times it’s really wonky. But maybe it’s just my setup.

here one of the (acknowledged) bug reports on simultaneous controller and mouse fps drops. I am pretty sure there was another one with more info and occasional bumps after major updates:

As for recommended settings I would say try out yourself in custom matches to see what fits you and your device. Try some extreme settings to see how it actually affects your inputs and then find the right balance.

Thanks for saving me the headache of doing that setup only to experience that frustration, the controller + mouse part was the main piece of feedback I was looking for (though if someone has recs for controller settings for surv, I'll gladly take them).

I am making the switch to PC mostly because I felt l had reached to point where the lack of mouse was holding me back on killer. Sick of getting spun/losing track of a surv simply because I can't turn fast enough.

I feel like controller is adequate for surv, though I might buy a controller with more button options to avoid those situations where the same button is mapped to multiple functions (often resulting in unintentionally dropped pallets at bad times).

Same button for multiple interactions can be a problem in some cases even for M&K input (I think vaulting and entering a locker for example will always be bound to the same button), but I guess it’s worse for Controller on default settings. My partner rebound their buttons and doesn’t run into these problems as often as I do. Though he used left/right D-Pad for some stuff (which don’t have any use atm on default)
