New player : trash SBMM

I just don't understand. I'm a new player, I only have ~70h of play. I haven't unlocked many perks. I don't know how to properly play with the different killers. I don't know anything about the intricacies of the game. Despite all that, I am constantly confronted with players + 1K hours who know the game inside out, who have all the possible perks, who prevent me from making the slightest kill and humiliate me as much as they can. I am writing this post after being paired with a group of 4 Russian players between 5k~6k hours.

Is this the best asymmetrical horror game? I actually paid to be humiliated in a game where I can't win? Are you all mad? I spend my time running after guys who have a pallet every 2 meters and who dodge my attack with a perk when I finally manage to catch up with them. I don't care if I lose, but at least give me a chance.

I've played PvP/Multi games, but this is the first time I've felt the incompetence or ignorance of people developing a game. A friend wanted to buy the game, I did everything to dissuade him.

Lol you didn't play with the old matchmaking. SBMM has proven to be objectively better in multiple ways including statistics and data.

I am finding that I'm getting significantly worse matches than I was during the time of the old Rank System.

I can't really think of a time where a SBMM system was implemented and people were happy with it.

It is objectively better to form 4 x 1k - 6k hours matches vs. 70 hours?! How did this game survive for 6 years?!

This is absolutely the worst time to be a new player and I'm sorry the matchmaking system handles new players so poorly right now. I hope this gets addressed soon because this is ridiculous. You should not be getting matched with those teams.

Most of the time, you should be getting a decent match, but yeah, sometimes you don't get a fair match up. It has always been like this-- SBMM or not, and I doubt it will ever change. You'll either learn to accept it, or you may find it better to move on.

I played with it for an entire year and being a new player back then was significantly easier and matches were much more balanced. Now the system just feeds 8 hour Megheads to cracked 8k hour Blights. Very good system indeed! And we don't have access to official stats so the only ones we have are watching high level players getting ~80% winrate as opposed to the desired 50% on both ends of the spectrum. The matchmaking is functionally worthless by all standards.

Matchmaking is horrible in this game. Oh and it has the most punishing grind I've ever seen. If you have any commun sense you should count your losses and find another game. Because starting from scratch now is just worse that pooping cactus.

I wanted to understand if this aberration was normal. Since it seems to be, all I have to do is stop this bad game and campaign around me to dissuade people from wasting their time and money on it.

There is currently no matchmaking and even if mmr was working somehow, I doubt it would be better. Welcome to the game

Remember it was activated once without any data to set your MMR and

-MMR will be set after 10 matches

-Killer switching is locked because of the MMR

× Yet the matches were rainbow ranks where anyone went against everyone

Afterwards the 2nd MMR test we got told

-collecting data in the background for months

    -each Killer MMR is different

-Players matched up with the sameish MMR

    See above the ×

Now lobby-dodging messes the MMR up, your MMR isn't lowering itself if you took a break and the increase/decrease of it is wheter you escape or die.

The problem is also often caused by lobby dodging killers. If a killer leaves the lobby the system just wants to find a new killer quickly, no matter if noob or pro. Maybe that's how you get these pro survivors. Based on my experience lobby dodging killers are quite frequent. Next time check their profile, if you see that they have 1k hours just dodge the lobby.
