If first year DBD players saw what DBD is like today, what would they think?

Not to those that are still here today. I mean that if you were playing DbD on release, only for somebody from the future to show you what DbD is like today, during their time, what would be the general reaction?

I would say... Well, I guess I will play the game in a few years. Funny story about that is it is not far from the truth when it comes to my experience with the game. I definitely decided to wait on it when I saw the 2016 version.

They would puke in disgust and cry of sadness.

As year -1 player (after all, I got to know this game before it even launched on steam, I remember how excited I was to have it launch and see the new killers and new maps), I would probably not like it anymore. The game felt so horror back then, before people figured out to loop and stuff. I deeply miss those days.

The game nowdays... I play it because I like the gameplay. It's way different from what it felt like back then, but I like it. Would I have liked it back then? Probably not.

Probably not that much, but I definitely wouldn't have continued to support the game. It would've been dead in my heart, with its horror aspect gone.

They would be pissed that after all these years we still have only one measly game mode.

Sadness for what was, what could have been, and most of all, what became.

The game has definitely shifted from horror to action slasher. There's no fog anymore, maps are much brighter and actions are very quick (as opposed to slow and methodical).

If you asked me a few years ago if I thought this game would have all of these killers and we'd be going toe to toe with the killer instead of hiding from that one down Mori I'd have said nope. I know games evolve but...I didn't expect an action game lol.

I started In 2017. Everything was so much slower. Even hanging survivors on the hook animation was ungodly slow

I remember when BT would grant invincibility to both survivors, and I didn't complain back then about it. But back then I hardly played killer too.

Now I mostly play killer bc it's a way better feel but still broken. They've come a long way. Just wish they'd get that balance to where all killers have a chance against 4 good loopers instead of such a small amount of the roster.

Game went bad. Game was fun when survivors didn't know how to loop. Funniest time ever

probably greneral disappoint for various reasons:

1 the game isn't focused on stealth anymore

2 still full of bugs even after 5 years

3 huge quantity of toxic brats/cheaters and generally a bad community who will ignore the problems that a specific side side has rather than being emphatic (think that there's eternal war between "survivor mains" and "killer mains" when in reality there are only players who can/should play both sides)

4 changes that nobody asked but this didn't stopped the devs (old ruin, deathslinger nerfs, borrowed time buff/nerf etc etc)

    5 too much grind

    6 unfun mechanics

7 players reports ignored (see point 3)

8 content that was removed from the game (see stranger things chapter or bubba's masks)

    9 ...and probably other reasons

They'd wonder why the atmosphere was less scary, but also just be glad that the party system actually works and Decisive Strike isn't something you just use the first time the killer picks you up.

They'd probably think "Wow, it's come a long way. When I first started playing there was only a few killers and survivors! I should definitely start playing again...".

Kind of funny/sad that year 1 players that really haven't seen anything from DBD in years would probably be very confused when they load into a game with Demo/Nancy/Steve/Jonathon.

"It's called Dead by DAYLIGHT! Why are so many maps so bright? And some just straight up take place in broad daylight?! This is dumb."

If they're a hardcore Survivor main, they'd probably be upset how much weaker they are

If they're a hardcore Killer main, they'd probably have a much easier time than before. Considering the old Self Care meta and CoH is basically the same and thats pretty much the only real problematic perk for Survivors nowadays

I came in year 2 or 3 (right after Legion dropped), so if I saw how it was now, back then- I would have definitely appreciated it graphically and liked all the cosmetics, but then I would be intimidated by the difficulty level rising for both sides.

Probably be elated. DBD was a horrible, buggy, unbalanced mess at 1.0. People like to complain now but DBD is in such a better state today than upon release
