Properly reporting players is way too complicated. It needs a rework.
I'm just going to get to my problems with it.
- [Reporting players properly is way, way too complicated.]
- For some reason, the in-game report system is not enough from what I read up. If you report in game, nothing happens, you have to fill out a *customer support ticket AND have reported them ingame*. **THIS IS NOT MADE APARANT IN GAME**.
- The entire process is long, tedious, and in the end doesn't even feel worth it. Uploading evidence, including your cloud tag, etc. In game reports should be all you need.
- [There's no feedback.]
- Whats wrong with telling us our reports do something? Other games have taken to doing this now, like Overwatch, and it creates user communication, and incentivizes reporting problematic players more. I shouldn't have to keep their steam profile on a notepad and check back to see if stuff has happened.
- TLDR: The reporting system sucks, no wonder this community is yikes asf.

Can relate
Also: yes, I also personally find the report system horrible. Not to mention I have to remind myself to open OBS everytime I play DBD, JUST in case I meet a hacker. And since I always forget, I end up recording with my phone some crappy videos.
But most annoyingly, the size limit on videos on their site is so small that I need to upload videos to youtube in order to give them the ACTUAL PROOF FOR WHICH I AM LITERALLY SENDING THE TICKET DEAR BHVR!

I agree. I tried to upload evidence but I'm on PS4 so I can't, and even when I tried to upload the evidence on the report section of the forums, the file type was incompatible.

The process needs to be streamlined in general, especially for console.
3 -
I upload the videos to youtube and send them the link.

Think of us console players, we cant even do anything. We cant grab player ID, while we can record clips it's not the best as there can be issues with it.
If we face a hacker, we just got to accept it. In game reports do nothing, people just use them as a troll and to be petty nowadays

If you are reporting a crossplay player you should only input the gamertag in the ID field and mention it in the issue description.
but @ topic: yeah, the process is way too complicated and not well described in-game.

I use Xbox Game bar. It's easy to open Win+G when I find a hacker, I can just use the little icon that automatically records the last 30 seconds. I think NVIDIA tool has similar function.

thats exactly how you do it on pc as well.
but you have to submit an additional player report ticket to the support team, where you have to put in the info and link to YouTube video etc.

The issue is that it doesn't say that in-game, iirc.

Which… I also acknowledged in my comment in this thread..?

When even your reporting system needs a rework, you know it has to be BHVR.

The thing I just really hate is how we're expected - no, obligated to provide our own evidence and then sift through our own recordings to upload just to report one guy. It's probably why there are so many hackers out there.

Agreed

I also like how the in-game report menu is encouraging you to make invalid reports. One of the categories lists ragequits as something you should report, but that's actually wrong. It's handled automatically.

That’s not even bannable, is it? Isn’t that the purpose of the DC penalty?
1 -
Exactly, but the report menu text remains unchanged.

Oh thats just the funny part lmfao

It would be easier if BHVR were to implement a kind of "Replay" system like Fortnite did.
So when you report someone, it uploads that match replay with the report.

Yeah, the reporting system needs improvements. On console, I can't even provide video or picture evidence of the issue. Then, when I report on my phone or laptop, I have to type in my player cloud ID which is tedious...
But it's also not like I have to report things all the time. The hardest was reporting 2 cheaters because I needed video evidence. Fortunately I was survivor and let the killer sacrifice me so I could switch over to Twitch and record while I spectated.
Definitely needs some work but I wouldn't hate on the devs for it.
