Switching to a flashlight at the last second in the lobby gets you tunneled and facecamped

Oh
2 -
Flashlights are the weakest and easiest countered item in the game. This is your daily reminder.
30 -
Your game could always crash when that happens. Sometimes my game does that
5 -
You’ll have to catch them first though
8 -
Yeah, but it wastes more of the guilty survivor's time if you just camp them, and then they still get to go to a twenty minute queue afterwards. Plus it's rewarding, and all the survivors who escape afterwards still feel like they get something out of it.
0 -
As much as I hate flashlights, that's no reason to camp or tunnel, unless they are being annoying with it. (Flashlight clicking, for example)
7 -
That is the easy part. The hard part is figuring out where that rodent spawned.
2 -
I'm not going to camp or tunnel someone just for running a flashlight. But if someone switches to one with five seconds left before the match starts specifically so I can't counter it with a perk (whether or not I even wanted to), it tells me they're trying to pull one over on me, and manners go out the window for the duration of that game.
(I will tunnel someone if all four of them are running flashlights and meta perks trying to mess up every save, but that's more for tactical reasons than me being mad about it.)
3 -
Playing this game and downing within 25seconds of chase will get you tunneled.
1 -
Lethal pursuer is perfect for that situation
3 -
Never really got the purpose of last second switches - i see that as killer in the lobby - you don´t surprise me with that.
1 -
I think they are some masochist that secretly want to be hit on hook. Some kind of twisted fetish, but I will definitely give them their heart's desire, uwu.
4 -
ok
2 -
Its not that big of a deal.
Stop being entitled and toxic asf.
- a killer main
5 -
"tunneling and camping is toxic asf" -A KILLER MAIN
Okay, I'm a survivor main and survivors shouldn't try to do stupid thing like this, they should be camped and tunneled to immediately removed from game.
2 -
Do not worry, fulltonon, they will. I promise you.
0 -
I didn't say tunneling/camping is toxic
I said OP's mindset of being angry at survivors doing stuff in the game that the devs haven't said is an exploit.
It comes off as whiny and entitled.
(Flashlights aren't even that hard to counter)
5 -
Okay, I think OP's mindset is perfectly legit and survivors who switches items in last seconds is extremely toxic and entitled.
Am survivor main btw
3 -
Ok
2 -
It's part of the game, it seems dirty, but survivors do it to counter Lightborn (which isn't even a good perk)
It's not toxic.
Being whiny and entitled, is.
0 -
If being whiny and entitled is toxic, do you not feel that perhaps you should rephrase your posts a bit?
2 -
You have no idea why they switched to a flashlight. For the sake of argument though, let's say they did it so you couldn't try to counter it. So what? They have no idea what they are facing. Why should they freely advertise to you what they're doing?
3 -
So is tunneling or camping, reminding they will change the tactics once they saw something that could be a sign of strong opponent is also fine.
OP isn't being whiny or entitled, if anything he is being friendly as reminding opponents to how he changes tactics benefit survivor's side.

Ich bin Deutsch.
English is not my first

Of course they can, but how does that make me want to tunnel and camp them less, exactly? They freely make my decision of who to remove from the game easy, so maybe you should ask them why they freely do it. I have no clue, thrawn3054. You are asking the wrong party.
2 -
Is this chapter one of the Killer rule book?
4 -
I don't think it's a rulebook as no one is asking for not doing it, just telling em they will what they do.
0 -
I would say but maybe they just didn't want you to bring a certain thing in as killer.
but also I feel like only try hards would do this to annoy the killer, so I kind of agree.
0 -
Not cool. Sometimes I just realized I didn't have anything equipped and don't want to waste my good stuff.

Flashlight groups are funny. They are a pain for the unsuspecting killer but otherwise they are usually a promise of a good game.
They can be equally a group trying to play aggressive to cut from the usual boredom that's survivor play.
Or they can be a group trying to bully the killer and that usually ends badly for them.
I love playing against these guys, whatever the outcome it will have been an interesting match.
It's way better than the gen-jockeys, press W, DH run-of-the-mill teams.
2 -
More or less It's on you, hehe.
0 -
It's probably not the flashlights themselves (learning counters make them largely irrelevant is killer 101), it's the spirit of the thing; I would not mind a team switching to flashlights, but to medkits might annoy me, and probably be a better justification for tunneling. Can't heal if you're dead. One could look at last second switching as being deceptive, or as simple gamesmanship. Either way it's legal and not an exploit.
But if the killer wants to employ a legal but less than sympathetic strategy as counter or retribution for it, that is also their right.
2 -
Exactly this. Perhaps base game DbD would benefit to switch to the mobile lobby. Once all five players are found, match starts in five seconds. Neither side can switch anything. I don’t like every aspect of it, but it’s better than all the lobby dodging and crying we have to deal with now in the base game.
4 -
Me, leveling up a character and switching to my main (at 15 seconds) who happened to find a flashlight the trial before. Oops
2 -
If I recall correctly tunneling and facecamping is what you do every game. Or at least you've given that impression. So I don't think it matters what they do.
1 -
Just loading into a lobby will get you tunneled and camped. Players are so fickle. Bring X perk or item, wear a certain outfit, play a certain character, successfully stun, cleanse a hex, and many more are all reasons people use to justify their tactics.
5 -
But in reality we don't need to justification of a tactics, it's weird how many people thinks they need something to do specific things.
Have you ever seen a survivor who try to say "killer tunneled friends so we will repair generator"? strange things.
0 -
You're right, which is why I find the explanations and justifications offered to be entertaining. That was my point!
0 -
Oh, you are back to your old self! Nice :)
0 -
If I'm doing that I hope I get tunneled. It takes a lot to convince a killer to let me practice chases against them. If I'm doing a stunt like that you best believe I'm running all perks to help me in chases to see how long I can go.
Working gens is boring.
1 -
Imagine getting so mad over an item that's easily countered by just baiting the pick up or facing a wall. Heck, if you're THAT paranoid just use Lightborn but don't cry about genrushing survivors right after :)
2 -
Read that laugh in the death slinger's voice for some reason.
Not disappointed.
1 -
🤔 interesting
0 -
: ( I equip a medkit with meme build and get tunneled.
0 -
What point are you trying to make, then? Are camping/tunneling toxic, or aren't they? Why should a survivor be angry with me for doing something that the devs have explicitly said isn't an exploit?
What do you think that I think that I'm "entitled" to?
There is no reason why they should freely advertise anything to me or make the game easier for me in any way. They can do what they want.
...And so can I. Right?
Nope. No rules. Survivors are perfectly free to switch to a flashlight at the last second in the lobby, just as they are perfectly free to enjoy the view of my face from the hook.
I mean, you're perfectly free to run to the second story of your house and jump out a window. There's no rule against that. I still highly recommend against trying it, because even though there's no rule that says you can't, that doesn't mean you shouldn't consider the potential consequences of your actions. Certain actions can lead to pain.
I have no problem with this idea.
The only perk I'll target someone for is CoH, just because it makes the game exponentially easier if that survivor dies. I won't target someone because they stun me, but I might if they flash a flashlight in my face at every pallet and/or keep screwing up my hooks.
I don't usually target people for cleansing hexes, but if I run a hex-heavy build, and they're all gone in less than a minute, sometimes I experience that weird game-crashing bug I've seen some people here talk about. Awful thing, that.

It's not the item but the attitude that gets you focused. No matter if it is a flashlight or a medkit or another item, you last second switch and that shows a tryhard attitude. Something i have no energy left to deal with.
But unlike most other i treat that attitude with ignorance. I completely ignore the player(s) that did something like that and go for the normal ones until I have all bbq stacks from them. Then i try to get the last from the switchers and when i am done with that back to juggling the normal survivor.
Last second switcher can follow me around or sit on a gen for the whole trial for all I care. I want to play casual and they show me with their last second switch that they want to sweat or dtleast circumvent a possible counter from me side indicating a tryhard mentality and I don't want to deal with that.

players have rights to do what the want no need to threat anyone ! stop to take this game too seriously
2 -
Flashlights suck and rarely will get value especially if you're smart. It's good to know someone might be following me the whole game instead of pressuring gens. Chasing 2 people at once is ultimate value.
1 -
I still do not understand the flashlight hate, where is it coming from lol it is the weakest item and literally rewards the survivor for not doing their objective and trying to have fun lol I'd take 4 flashlight teams any day of the week, atleast it isn't 4 medkits or toolboxes
