Extra detection range actually helps?

I've been experimenting with Nemesis add-on, Admin Wristband. I've been trying to see what I can do to best optimize the usefulness of my zombies, as they often seem to be little help without being given they're strongest speed add-ons. I've never bothered with the detection range because I figured it would be more useless than speed on bigger maps, and wouldnt really come into play. I've been surprised after finally risking them for a few games to find not only. I getting fairly more consistent zombie strikes all of a sudden out of no where, but I'm also seeing zombies with arms raised in their alert status way more.

The two maps I tried were Coldwind and Yamaoka, not the smallest maps by any stretch. The first came, I was finding myself cornering survivors with zombies at surprise angles way more often. Then after a fair amount of hooks on two survivors back to back, I found a new survivor with IW at random at cowtree. I hit him and was surprised to find he was instantly downed, not having checked his status before attacking. The only way he could have been injured is if he got hot by a zombie twice, then vaccinated (he was not contaminated at the time of me finding him).

Surely just unprepared survivors?

Next match I was actually paying more attention to the zombies and what they would do. The range of detection they were getting towards gens was kind of nuts, and I almost always knew where at least one survivor was immediately after every chase/hook, it was such good info I would say it would make BBQ redundant. There were also scenarios I would see zombies actually zero in on a survivor in such a way they were almost stuck at a loop.

Was I wrong about the effectiveness of this add-on? Does anyone else find it to be better than expected, or even a top combo add-on?
