M1 killer mains - How?

My 2 most played killers recently are artist and trickster. I decided to give blight, clown and wraith a few goes cos I hadn't played them in a while.

How on earth do you deal with the amount of dead hards?

I'm literally losing some games purely because of dead hard - especially as wraith.

Seriously, I'm starting to understand why there's so many "nerf dead hard" threads now if every m1-type killer gets screwed THIS HARD by a single perk.

Mindbreaker is alright, just I don't wanna be forced to run it every game if I don't want to get E key to outplay-ed, it's really good on blight though so I'm never taking it off of him.

And well this isn't even talking about circle of healing which I've already ranted about enough.

I will gladly stick to Bird mommy and Trickster thank you very much if this is how screwed over other killers get by the meta.

I wouldn't classify Blight as an M1 Killer, he's far from it.

As to how people are able to play M1 Killers, they like playing with them

I have been playing Blight since recently, and I have gotten some mixed experiences against Dead Hard.

If I suspect someone of having Dead Hard, I mostly Lunge out of a rush as late as possible. This mostly results in me still hitting the survivor at the end of their Dead Hard. This only doesn't work if survivors Dead Hard into you. But then you can still choose to not lunge yet, and try and hit them with your next rush.

In general, if Dead Hard is being used to actually dodge a hit, you deal with it by baiting it out- Wraith is the best for this because if you tap M2 it looks similar enough to starting an M1 attack that survivors will reflexively press E, but others can do it too. Any flick of the camera upwards can do it occasionally, and some killers can fake their power to a slightly lesser to degree to Wraith.

DH to dodge a hit genuinely isn't that bad. It's annoying if it comes after winning a mindgame, but it's overall quite counterable and requires good timing. DH to get to a loop, though, that's the really maddening part.

Also, y'know, killer power comes into it. Trapper can trap healthy survivors, for example.

DH for distance is what it is. It feels bad but the survivor isn't necessarily correcting a mistake with it. They're just being greedy because they know they can.

DH for dodging hits shouldn't really happen with enough experience. It's almost always very obvious when a survivor has it. If a killer finds survivors consistently getting extra loops via reactive panic Dead Hards, they're being WAY too impatient with their lunges and not positioning well. You don't need to lunge at the first available opportunity.

As far as playing M1s, it's not as bad as people make it out to be. 99% of teams aren't achieving the perfection that players think every survivor is capable of. Run a good build, have some game sense, run the tiles correctly, and use the power effectively.

Dead Hard really isn't as big of a deal as people make it out to be, in the majority of situations it only buys the survivor a little more time. You can swing at an unexpected time and either catch people off guard and get a down, or force them to use it early and zone themselves away from a pallet/window (and get a down anyway).

I find Sprint Burst far more annoying, since it consistently gives survivors a lot of extra distance and makes pushing survivors off of generators a LOT more time consuming. I'd rather have 4 Dead Hards in a lobby than 2 Sprint Bursts.

Also yeah Blight is not an M1 killer at all.

You have to assume every single survivor has it, every time you go for a down. It's very obnoxious.

    You wait it out.

It's an over used perked that's over due for changes and just have to assume everyone has it since it's the most dominant perk that survivors use.

Some killers can bait it out easier than others. Wraith instead of M1 can smack your bell once to bait it and you won't lose any distance. Clown can just raise his arm and chuck a bottle. Other killers that don't have anything all you can do is jerk you camera movement suddenly to try to bait it.

If they're using it for bs free distance gain there's really not much you can do.

Well Clowns bottles practically nullify dead hard unless the survivor uses it smartly.

Dead Harding for distance is correcting the mistake of being greedy, though.

You do not need perfection to counter m1 killers. Obviously most survivors are bad, but there is a HUGE difference even at a causal level between playing an anti loop killer versus a pure m1. Especially one without instant downs.

Blight and nurse just kinda have to take the L unless theyre in a good position to bait the dh obv, but other than that, just early lunges man. Thats whats killing you.

I love curving an injured survivor only for them to dh for dodge and me just running 2m further to down them anyways.

Watching a DH for distance to a pallet or window after you have massively outplayed a surv in chase is one of the worst feelings in DBD, second only to maybe being face camped by a Bubba right out of the gate, imo.

At lower-mid levels, survs seem to be terrible at using DH for its intended purpose (dodging a hit), and it can easily be baited. At higher levels, and in the hands of very experienced survs, DH is a third health state, in addition to a distance gaining bailout, depending on the situation.

    DH should be removed.

Fearmonger (Mindbreaker) doesn't prevent Dead Hard either. If they weren't touching a gen within the last 5 seconds, your perk doesn't exist.

Yea I think OP is referring to DH to gain distance to a pallet or window, is the problem. I know that pain. It extends the chase long as hell when the “right” survivors use it. You’ll eventually catch them if you continue, but you already gave up so much time for that chase if you break off & you didn’t even down them to trade for the gen that’s about to pop. Lose lose situation.
