Which killers do you think are closer to balanced?
Which killers do you guys think are closest to the idea of balance in DBD and are examples we should balance killers around.
I think killers like Artist, Blight, Hag, and Huntress are the closest to balance we currently have.

Nurse is the best balanced, Blight is the second best balanced. Since there’s not really any way to be better designed than Nurse (since she ignores all mechanical limits), Blight is the closest ideal model for future killers that still are mechanically limited:
Lot of diverse add-ons, basically almost no bad add-ons, a high skill ceiling that rewards mastery, very interactive and mindgame-oriented chase/anti-loop and good cross-map freeform mobility.

Hag and Artist are definitely not the poster children of Balance. I'd say Billy, Oni, Blight (barring his add-ons), Bubba (barring camping), Pinhead, Pyramid Head, and Plague are all killers in a pretty good state.

I disagree with Nurse, she's the only killer that makes people saying "this game is killer sided" slightly valid. Her problem is that once you learn how to ignore the fundamentals of the game, she becomes so ridiculously strong that Slowdown + the right add-ons on her is just too much. That being said I'm fine with her, I don't want this game to ever actually be balanced, just remove the ridiculously oppressive stuff like Dead Hard and old Ruin + Undying and I'm good.

Which is why she still only averages out to 2K at highest levels of play possible, and even lower if you play with completely zero restrictions. Everything about her chase is the the epitome of mindgaming. Whoever makes the better read/play gets the success. Nurse makes the right read/survivor makes the wrong read, a hit happens. Vice versa and a hit is dodged. That’s as skillful as you can possibly get.

Anyone remember when Billy was considered the most balanced killer in game with a couple problematic addon.
Poor Billy

Depending on the skill level, while I disagree with people like Otz when they say killer overall isn't weak, they are right that against the average survivors, even at high MMR, they probably won't understand the minute details of Nurse.

How isn't hag?
1 -
Hag is perfectly balanced.
5 -
Even though you cant buy him anymore, Demogorgon is still by far the most balanced in the game
7 -
I love my puppy Demogorgon, but Blight and Oni are more "balanced" than him. Blight has the second highest skill ceiling in the entire game, behind Hillbilly, great Add-Ons and rewards skillful play on both sides.
Oni is similar. He rewards skillful play on both sides, has some good Add-Ons and a great snowball potential
6 -
Artist, Demo and Blight by far
2 -
blight billy oni demo huntress

a swf with a torch will wreck her without problems... maybe aganist solo survivors, but actually you can't tell a killer that's perfectly balanced... in all this time devs didn't had choose a proper object of balance (solo survivor is miserable due to the general incompetence of your teammates and swf is actually broken, so doing a mix of both will result in a bad spot for solo when aganist a meta killer and killers when they are facing swf), at least, in my opinion...
2 -
Basekit blight and old billy without instasaw 1.0(old tinkerer) or 2.0.
2 -
Massively disagree with Hag. I think a killer who, imo, is weak when survivors have flashlights but too strong without them is badly balanced.
If we fix camping, I think Bubba is perfectly balanced.

Besides Blight and maybe Demogorgon, the killers that reflected good balance all got nerfed. Hillbilly, Wraith, Deathslinger, Spirit.

I wanna say Demo if he was slightly stronger. His power helps him in chase, tracking survivors and going around the map quickly.
I'm glad that those who are arguing Nurse aren't the ones balancing the game.
1 -
Blight and Oni are the two most balanced killers in the game.
2 -
A good nurse just isn't played enough against so people tend to just get steamrolled by a good one. If you're on a decent map you can for sure waste a good amount of her time.
4 -
Not Nurse. That's for sure.
4 -
Nurse is the only killer who is as strong as survivors.
So, Nurse!
3 -
Well.... If we are talking about basekit (no perks nor addons).... I'd say Freddie
Even though I don't play that much of him
Then Maps.... IDK I've gotten 4K's on maps that are considered Survivor favored.... Then again I've gotten 4E's on maps that favor Killer (and the opposite is true as well)
So yea.... it's hard to get a hold of balance.... Even the Devs can't

You're just wrong lol

Without any add-ons, and thinking about the majority of the player base not being sweaty SWF with meta Perks, I would say that Demo is the most balanced Killer out of all the Killers in this game. He does have a bit of everything, his chase is pretty decent thanks to his Shred without being overly oppressive from the Survivor's PoV, his Portals give him some map pressence and he can get some surprise hits thanks to his post teleport stealth.
It's really sad that he basically got terminated out of the game. :(

Difficult to say without context. Do you mean: strong swf with meta perks and strong items vs x killer with best add-ons and meta perks?
Or do you mean average players with no perks & items vs x killer with no perks & add-ons?
We can't say there's a real uniform balance spread around different scenarios. There's different balances for different contexts
1 -
Blight.
He has mobility so he can play the 4v1, his power can also be used at certain loops without breaking how to actually loop.
Hes not fully Anti-loop but he has some antiloop type plays mixed with his mobility and a well balanced killer.
I'd say demo could be too if his portals were preplaced and would respawn after a small time after being destroyed
1 -
blight / Oni (Artist ? the anti-loop killer that makes everyone hold W for the lack of counterplay...idk dude)

This thread properly shows that killers players sense of balance has nothing to do with gameplay balance at all. Thanks for showing this again.

Old Billy.

Good question, assuming we're not looking at a tournament context for top tier players with only the best stuff and we're averaging out to a more regular game with decent players...
I'd say Demogorgon is very well balanced. He's strong and has versatility, but requires skill to play well and can be played around with good skill as well. Blight is another strong contender, though it's worth mentioning that only his basekit is well balanced; his addons can be pretty busted and at least one is straight up OP.
If we take facecamping out of the equation, I'd also propose Bubba and Doctor. Both of them provide solid value that skilled players can capitalise on very well, while being killers that can be outplayed with decent skill and execution from the survivor side.
Oni's a bit of a blind spot for me, but he seems to fit the same mould...? I'd have to play him more to be sure of that, though.

This. I have always felt old Billy was in a very good spot, fun to play as and against, just the insta-saw being trouble. He was commonly played so survs got used to versing him. So clunky after the rework. Now I'll see two per month at best.
Sadface.

no u lol

Any reasonable person knows Nurse isn't balanced and that anyone who says she is the epitome of balance is either trolling or incredibly biased.
4 -
Yeah, Blight still has to deal with pallets, nurse doesn't.
0 -
Right everyone was like can you remove his insta saw. Bhvr said no problem. Full addon rework, over heat and a terrible scream just what the community wanted.
1 -
Old Billy was balanced, but you know, baby survivors Allways get what they want
2 -
Honestly, old billy, basekit huntress, basekit blight are probably the most balanced killers imo.
0 -
lol
3 -
Hold up, no one told me we could mention old characters!
Then Old Billy and on-release Freddy are the correct answers.
1 -
Blight is insanely broken and not even close to balanced.
And that is the problem with balance in this game. We have a ton of underpowered killers, but we cannot buff Killers in general because it would make the top tiers that much worse.
3 -
Spirit
2 -
Any reasonable person knows nurse is fine and that everyone who says she isn't balanced is either trolling or incredibly biased.
3 -
More like YOU'RE trolling or incredibly biased.
2 -
I'm just stating that kind of attitude achieve nothing, because there is literally nothing in it.
0 -
Nurse. Huntress, Myers.
Definitely not Hag, Artist or Pinhead though. Blight is questionable.
0 -
Old billy,demo and oni
0 -
Why is Artist for you unbalanced? She is very balanced imo. She don't need any changes. Only time where she was OP was on PTB where you could damage someone whenever they would pass your crow.
2 -
Deathslinger and Hillbilly prior to their incredibly unnecessary nerfs.
0 -
The ones that are viable at high MMR: Blight, Nurse and to some extent Huntress.
All other killers need some serious buffs to their basekits (esp mobility)
1 -
I mean in the eyes of someone who includes his addons yes. If you know how to play against a base kit blight you'd be surprised from the amount of counterplay he has. He's a killer that actually takes learning the player instead of mindlessly pre throwing while he has power up.
