Tunneling should be promptly addressed
Out of the matches played this morning, a whopping 80% of those the killer tunneled people out of the match. This is a very serious problem and has put the game's health in serious jeopardy. My last match was against a bad Huntress abusing broken hitboxes for an unfair advantage so as soon as I was unhooked, here comes an undodgeable hatchet and I'm back on the floor again.
I used DS but it didn't matter. She continued to chase me and because I got locked in an animation I had to suffer an uncounterable hatchet again. Why is this a thing?
For a game that is about 6 years old, this is a shame. Survivor is seriously lacking in ways to deal with tunneling. In every single patch ever released, killer gets a very powerful slowdown perk to deal with things they do not like. (Scourge Pain, Deadlock to name a couple of recent ones).
All of these perks that have given killers power creep but survivor can still be tunneled out of the match instantly. This makes playing killer a lack of any challenge because you can pick all of these extremely powerful perks for an advantage but still do things that was still possible all the way back in 2016.
Survivors need better perks for survival. The game shouldn't be so disadvantageous for one side. The player counts are dropping fast due to very unfair matches.

Promptly in BHVR terms?
And whatever the solution to tunnelling is I doubt it involves more perks. They've tried using perks to bandaid bad game design for years.

"survivors need better perks" funniest thing I have read since joining this board
If DS, BT, all exhaustion perks, the possibility of teammates blocking for you, circle of healing to reset... if these things didn't stop you from getting tunneled you probably should have played better (or not queued solo survivor expecting help)
When you get tunneled like this, the killer is probably punished elsewhere on the map by your teammates

If you want to have a chance against the good survs you have to get one out as quickly as possible. That is already very hard to achieve for many killers.
But yes - in normal games with normal SoloQ survs killers are strong. I hate huntresses lately. Most of the ones i faced were pretty good and the hatchets are annoying af.
Also i don´t think better perks are the solution. We already have better bigger faster. Everything needs to be turned down again. Game is getting way to fast in everything.

"Tried" implies past tense. They're are still introducing perks in an attempt to fix bad game design. Bhvr hasn't learned a thing.

BHVR are actually planning to address it

Nurse main had a rough game it seems

Nurse disabled = sluzzy has more time to spend on the forums = everyone wins

I have had a game where 2 gens were done before corrupt intervention is over, and I only saved it from being 3 because I executed a near perfect chase with a low tier killer and then kicked it with pop. And I know it would have been all 3 had the survivor just pre-threw a few more safe pallets instead of trying to actually loop.
Games like that? Yeah, i'm tunneling.
And it also literally blows my mind survivors will complain about tunneling when they are rushing the gens that hard. In the old days at red ranks 4/4 survivors would have BT/DS because it was EXPECTED the killer was going to have to tunnel. I guess somewhere along the way we forgot about that?

Probably a good time to remind people taking Sluzzy seriously to review their post history.

You need teammates to prevent tunneling and good luck with that in solo queue. But it is not as though they can change it as the people who can counter it will basically be unkillable and even more killer mains will cry about how they are leaving.

ily Sluzzy, never change

I wouldn't say she's abusing the hitboxes. There's nothing she can do about them.

Source? From what I can tell, they have shown very little effort in dealing with this long-standing problem.
3 -
It wasn't tunnelling, they said they were going to look at facecamping maybe/possibly/etc
4 -
They mentioned in a stream months ago that they were trying solutions internally. They also mentioned that it was rough, and none of the attempts might ever see the light of day. Being BVHR, I would err on the side of never see light of day.

So they have no plans to help with tunneling.

If all killers tunnel then don’t get caught first. Do gens and escape GG EZ

Not that I've heard

And how would you address tunneling without giving an unhooked survivor a free escape and guaranteed time where there is absolutely no chance whatsoever of the killer bothering them in any way shape or form? Because that amounts to free gen time with no chance of it being interrupted.
4 -
That's way easier said than done. No Way Out, NOED, Blood Warden just gives killer even more advantage after tunneling. The hook timer is so fast, it would take all 3 to be on the gens without ever stopping. Then everyone is NOED.

I'm not actually asking for a free escape, but a more punishing mechanic or perk. It is not fair a Huntress or Blight instantly downs someone immediately after a DS, which incentivizes tunneling. If the stun is so miniscule, it should be useable multiple times. They could give it 3 stacks or something. Killers are not afraid of decisive strike or borrowed time.

Survivors: "Chases are the most fun part of the game!"
Also survivors: "I hate when the killer repeatedly chases me instead of letting me do gens!"
I really don't get it.

The funny thing about lumping everyone together under "Survivors" or "Killers" only is that under each umbrella there are many vocal subgroups of players, not all of whom agree with each other, and so when you combine all of these together you're able to make statements which seem to paint the other in a hypocritical light when in fact you're describing a hypothetical person made up of every complaint ever.

"Promptly" made me laugh

Undodgable hatchets hm yes seems like someone is playing with this?
7 -
You're right, DS is way more punishing to some killers than others. Like hypothetically, if for some reason they decided to add a killer that could straight up teleport directly through solid objects in the direction of the survivor, ignoring all pallets and windows, I think such a killer would have to worry about DS even less than huntress or blight. Potentially quite a lot less!

Dead Hard,Lithe,Balanced Landing,Metal of Man,Decisive Strike,Sprint Burst etc
So many addresses

lmao fix the game for killers and maybe the survivors will suffer less tunneling..
im sure bhvr is looking into a way to delete tunneling from the game though..

Hi Sluzzy : )

It does need to be addressed. To me, the levels of camping and tunneling reflect the state of the gameplay currently. The game may be more balanced than it has been in a while, but both sides are not a lot of fun atm. Rather than putting out band-aid perks and re-dressing up old ones, they should look at adding more objectives for both sides.
1 -
Tunneling doesn't exist. In every other game it's just called focusing down a target. Don't take dying in a game personally, I'm not hooking you repeatedly because I dislike you, I don't know you, I'm just trying to get the odds in my favor as quickly as possible, because, like you, I want to win games.
5 -
Yeah, just like how they've been planning on addressing everything else about the game's meta and keep saying they'll eventually do things. But when do they ever actually do what they say they're planning on? How often do they actually make good on things they claim they want to do? When they host a Q&A, all the answers to "are you still going to do <thing they talked about wanting to do>?" or similar questions are always either "no," "I don't know," or "maybe." There's never any definitive evidence of BHVR actually working on stuff like this.
2 -
Just make BT basekit. Won't stop it, but it would help a lot.
2 -
THIS. Underrated comment, sound advise, best tactic by far.

BHVR are actively encouraging both camping and tunnelling by their definition of a "win" for MMR: A killer's only metric is the number of survivors they kill. Chases, hooks, mindgames - none of those matter at all, just the death count at the end of the game.
In this environment, the best play for any killer is to take out players one at a time. Hit and run has been destroyed with CoH so there's really no alternative but to reduce the odds against you by taking out players as quickly as possible.
And I knew who wrote the OP by the title without having to look at the name. Please take a moment to repair that broken record you keep playing, if you would be so kind?

sry sluzzy i was the huntress

But you actually are asking for a free escape because you want a perk to be so strong I have to fear it and my only counter to not tunnel you aka you have a free escape because it's not worth hunting you down. At the state of the game killing one survivor asap is the right move because it will dramatically increase my odds to Win. A perk that is so strong it shuts down tunneling would be on the same level as killer perks that enables me to one shot you like devoure wich is a hex because it's strong. And let's be real for a second if there where a perk that shuts down tunneling you could bet your cheeks survs are going to abuse it to save other survs like body block like crazy because you know the killer knows its not even worth hitting you

doesn't stop old forum users from doing so, heck it gives us a one heck of a show.

Old heads of the forum, can you recommend me the best sluzzy posts that I can go through in my spare time.
1 -
Too many and at some point it all gets blurry.

Says a person who presumably plays nurse with strongest addon every match and tunneling one player out extremely quickly.
1 -
That's like asking what's the best star trek episode. Start at the start and enjoy them all. Picking and choosing ruins the experience.
2 -
I enjoy being tunneled as being chased for 5 minutes and dying is much more entertaining to me than sitting on 2 gens for 3 minutes then running out the gates.
0 -
Personally, I enjoyed the one where they called PTB Trickster good.

I think most of the frequent forum users know this by now but Sluzzys post are often good for a laugh. Forums get stale until a patch or new chapter comes out.
1 -
Just do bones.

To be honest...i'd probably tunnel you out as well just due to these posts you make even if they are troll posts.
5 -
Sluzzy to be fair there was probably weird hit detection between you and the killer they might've had a better ping than you hence you got a few unfair hits plus the hatchets have a beachball collision so yeah they do happen from time to time.
Also from the posts you put on the forums you kinda make yourself a target in the game like no offense but, your posts constantly saying Survivor is to weak, Killer is op, nerf this, rework this killer, etc. You'll probably from time to time have a killer that'll target you because of your posts and they'll be like it's Sluzzy?? I'm gonna tunnel/slug/camp them and see how good they are.
Plus you sometimes just try and sacrifice yourself on the first hook because you got caught so quickly.
