The amount of hackers has made me quit.
I've been lucky enough to avoid them mostly before that, but lately it's been teleporting hackers, instant gens, running through BW,60 hour long blinds...
I'm tired. BHVR,for F@#@'s sake UPDATE your server model. We need these types of cheats GONE. Please.
Update: I've quit this game. Even more hackers today. I'm not dealing with this, thanks.

Would you like a cat picture?
Here you go :)

I would like my 6 hour DC penalty not be present and my ability to play the videogame and get wrecked without worrying about cheaters to be back.

This is the third thread about cheaters/hackers I've seen today.
Totally not an issue that has to be dealt with asap.

Another cat picture it is!

We need an FAQ on how to report so we can just hyperlink every time this comes up.

it's gotten so out of control and nothing has been done about it.. so frustrating.

@kizuati Idk if you dont know how these exploits are made and maintained but here goes.
There are money in cheating, people will buy cheats from professional hack developers. Every time BHVR patches some of the holes used by the hack developers, they will work day and night to restore functionality. Its not pretty, you can spend terrible amounts of resources fighting cheaters/hackers and they will always find another hole.
Now BHVR is always working on fixing these exploits. But development of fixes take time and is possible undone fast anyway.
How many resources do you want BHVR to invest in this? How long will it last?

Now the way I think we might the best opportunity to fix the hacker problem is to come together as a Community and Developer.
- Hacking has become more known, increasing usage, we must avoid increasing the popularity of cheating and cheaters.
- Shared community content which includes cheaters, should not be shared/liked and should be downvoted.
- Content creators should not bring attention to hackers. Reports of cheaters should happen via the Support System.
- Any cheater you meet ingame should be met with disapproval and disappointment, zero social encouragement.
- Making sure every community member knows how to report accounts through BHVR's System. (Ingame and via Support)
Here are some very rough points about what we can do.

If this was a situation of "holes",the issues would be wallhacking, latency interpolation manipulation, all the regular stuff.
However due to the extremely flawed server model, flyhacking and infinite perks work. Which should have been fixed a hundred years ago. I've said a lot that the biggest issue for DBD is not exploits the hackers find,no. It's the fact that the server barely does anything and accepts whatever the f*ck the client sends. Clients can't be trusted and the server should always check if the client inputs are valid or not.
See also how no other multiplayer game that's popular has speedhacking and flyhacking.

Cheaters kill multiplayer games.
People either get fed up with being matched against cheaters and quit or they start to suspect every player that beats them, to be a cheater.
2 -
Yeah! At the point where you get this amount of hackers you might as well assume all of them are subtly hacking.
2 -
Moar?
1 -
I'm extremely aware of the issue, Hence me saying of how the server model should be updated. It's still basically p2p. If it wasn't,you couldn't tell the server you have 6000 perks and can fly.

Wow,that comment took 60 minutes to go through

2 more hackers today...
1 -
I've genuinely quit DBD after 1,5k hours now. I can't play a videogame that's just hackers,hackers,hackers.
2 -
i bet you 90% of forum users actually have cheats for dbd...
i cant help but feel it is that way

BHVR doesn’t care enough to do anything. Sick to death of the damn hackers. Ran into 2 today that were subtle speed hacking, vanishing like Nightcrawler when I swing. Outrunning me during bloodlust, and it seems to getting more common. At this point I hope they get bought out by Sony or Microsoft, then maybe ######### would get fixed.

This post was clearly done by a Dwight Schrute. Hacking def sucks just gotta deal with it at times that unfortunately means fixing the exploits that hacks reveal which i have no idea how easy or hard that must be.

Weird I never get hackers I think only twice ever but then again I play on console

Ok

Actually... those are the worst advices llke, ever. If there's a problem, it should be well-known. Specially if the devs seems to care little to nothing about it and also, isn't the first point like kind of dumb? Since you're listing ways to stop hacking.
3)Hacking a game, not only cost a lof of money but resources... you're right about that but even so. The amount of hackers have increased, and that's because BHVR don't care to deal with. And yes, I understand you wanting to believe the developers but actually, there are smaller teams with less hacking who are almost as popular as DbD. Why is that? I know, "probably they're a better community"... if you think that, let me tell you that even if there are communities less toxic than DbD the truth is, if someone finds a route shorter to the same goal, many will take it.5) You need to go through a hell just to fill a report and even so, the people you report more than anything, they don't get banned due to the "lack of proof". Also, it's not, the community should know how to do BHVR's work for them, it's like this "BHVR should work in a better in-game report to ensure it's working"
2) don't understand the point of "downvoting it"? I mean seriously? In order to downvote something, you have to search for it first... anyway... Do you eriously believe this will do something to stop hacking?
4) Literally no one here supports cheating. Stop being silly. They might support bullyng a killer/survivor but no more than that.

the power of the sun has been obtained by survivors

The approach to cheating/hacking is called nudging, its about creating social mechanism in the community and environment to encourage and decourage certain behaviours. I studied this is college and university and it works often: You can read more here:
You dont seem to quite get how the mechanism works and thats fine I ought to make a better post explaining the behavioural mechanisms.
But you are wrong about we needing to make a big fuss about camping to make BHVR do anything, if you watched the streams you would know why they keep quiet.
I wish you well.

No wonder the IP leak situation. I suspected it was P2P which is why I use a VPN. This is such basic stuff, anyone can run a network analyser.
0 -
It's not P2P exactly anymore, although it was. But even now the servers only stabilize the ping and do validation

The issue here is that there is no business incentive for them to fix it. If they were willing to spend money and resources on it,hackers who fly and hold people hostage would be gone.
Wallhacks,aimbots,no,but those would be.
1 -
thank you for calling me out.
this is very not true.
0 -
The incentive has to be dwindling playerbase that hits them where it hurts. Or they could end up like Valve where bots run rampant in their old games.

Achoo 🤧
0 -
Uhm... no, they would not be gone. because the hackers who develop the cheats/hacks also have a business incentive to restore to hack/cheat functionality.
My proposal is to hit the Cheat/Hack consumer.
0 -
Yes they would. Educate yourself. If they changed the server model they would be. Look at CSGO,can people flyhack there? No. Stop talking about things you have absolutely no clue about.
0 -
Actually... 10% is still a noticeable amount

If they can't fix the cheating issue, which it's seeming more and more likely that they can't then they should give players a means to deal with them outside of reporting
Like idk a concede feature or something. If there was no DC penalty then at least people could just be like "oh a cheater ok bye" then move on. As much as I think the DC penalty is needed, cheaters literally couldn't hold people hostage for hours on end if it wasn't a thing.

i agree

It really does suck to wait in a lobby for a long time only to me matched with a hacker.
Like, no matter how much you might like/dislike the devs or game. This situation has gotten out of hand.
Their reporting system needs to be improved IMO. At this point “Hacking” should be it’s own category.
