Why are Dead By Daylight Survivor player base so toxic?
Not sure if there is a discussion about this already(just started playing again like a week ago) but I am really tired of Dead By Daylight Survivors playing toxic, I don't think its much to ask if I save you from hook, ground, etc I should get that same treatment back, I don't think its right , if you want to play toxic go play with your friends or something , not many of my friends play DBD so I am always getting into matches with Randoms that play selfish , I just got done playing a match where I was doing saves, gens , and running killer but when I asked the players I was carrying why didn't they save me from hook after I just did the most to keep them alive and tried to do gens, why am I being told i'm irrelevant?

First of all: it’s an online PvP game which is bound to have a ‚toxic‘ community anyways. The asymmetrical design of the game makes it even more prone to that as you have players only seeing their point of view.
Second: Selfish survs are not toxic. It’s part of the game, survs are not supposed to save you if they don’t want to. In most cases it’s dumb to play selfish like that, but still very much intentional by design.
people have different definitions of what toxic means. Some saying it’s only those that cheat/hack. Others say bm‘ing or going out of your way to make the match for others miserable. But in your case, they just didn’t play the game like you do or how you want them to. And… trying to dictate others how they should or shouldn’t play is another way of being toxic.

It's also important to remember there are 4x more survivors than there are killers. So if you get one "toxic" survivor, then the equivalent would be going against 3 fine killers, and one toxic killer.
