Does anyone actually fall for the transparent PR ploys?
The new chapter dropped and the first week was filled with posts about how little impact it had on getting new players or bringing old players back.
Then suddenly we get a "rAnDoM" event which encourages everyone to log in daily for 1-2 matches worth of bloodpoints, and wow, we're probably going to see the player numbers go up regardless of whether people do more than open the game, claim the bonus, then close it again.
I wish I wasn't cynical enough to look at it that way, but am I the only one tired of getting attention and rewards from the game only when they feel threatened? Used to be events were announced well in advance because they were about enjoying the game, now it's more like "oops, chapter flopped, fudge the numbers" or "a high profile game is releasing? time for another 1.5x weekend!"

Shrug. I think it's a bit of column A (planned event), column B (an attempt to buffer the numbers in the wake of a mediocre DLC launch) and column C (an attempt to help alleviate the grind a little).

I think that's a little unfair. People wanted more of these events before, and now we're getting more of these events it's suddenly a 'transparent PR ploy'.
It probably has the added side bonus of being a good PR move, but I think it's a little premature to assume that was the sole intent.

Ah yes, their listening to this long-standing request just happens to coincide with them losing players and a new chapter hardly bumping the numbers at all.
If that's what makes them jump into gear, then perhaps they'll start addressing other older concerns, such as the new player grind. And maybe a newer one like their extremely primitive MMR system.

Yeah, they really can’t win. They have more players then a year ago. Consistently.
They suffered for not doing enough events. They wanted to only focus on the Anniversary and Halloween. Backlash.
Theyve done the complete opposite this year. A mini-Tome during Halloween. Snowmen event with cosmetics. Envelope event with cosmetics. A Christmas advent calendar.
Amazon Prime give aways.
We get another smaller giveaway that matches the theme of the new chapter. And thoughtless people like OP say thoughtless things like this thread. Empty minded.
BHVR did something cool and people think drivel like this.

The mini tome, the snowmen and the lunar new year were all obvious planned events. They had unique challenges and mechanics made for them, even if some like snowmen were horrendously thought out, they were good event.
Listing amazon prime as an event is laughable, it's literally just another way to give them money for cosmetics. You may as well call the store an "event" at that point.
This and the christmas advent calendar are the same thing. There's no effort to them, no satisfaction of an event, just "open the game daily so the numbers look good."
We have seen for the last several months that the only time we get bloodpoint multipliers and these spontaneous things to get attention are when the devs think the game will look bad. We only got the last multiplier because Elden Ring was pulling their players away, and the one before that just happened to be over the VHS beta that people had been talking up for ages.
I'm not saying they don't make decent events occasionally, I'm just pointing out that the playerbase aren't necessarily idiots, and we can see what they're doing.

I don't care if it's a PR ploy- it's free BP. The game will die eventually no matter what. Enjoy it while you can.

A lot of games work on FOMO. For me if I'm going to play the game anyway, I take advantage of whatever is going on. If I don't have time to play, then I don't have time to play.
It does work on a lot of younger people. I guarantee if they put a cute puppy charm for playing 3 matches in for a limited time you'd have a massive surge in players. It's just the way it is. Why it works in hide and seek murder game I dunno, but that's just how people do be.

Snowman was a one ######### mistake no one should ever consider good, anything else is good.

I find it a bit annoying cause I do have a bit of negative view for obvious reasons, but I think these type of things are fine. It doesn't fix the issue of the grind but it helps.

They have said more than once that they have no problems getting new players but have more trouble with keeping them. They depleted the pool of possible new players with certain chapters and free weekends. The stranger things dlc brought even in a lot people that barely play games. Looking at how they released a damn kpop killer is just them getting desperate to keep the numbers high. Now even licensed killers don't draw in more players because there are non left. It will only go downhill from here. To be fair I'm happy for it since they just hardcore milked this game from the start because of the monopoly. No decrease in amateur behaviour of the dev team in all these years... Even dbd2 will fail at this point

Yep, just reinstalled yesterday and played for the first time since December a few rounds.
0k in all except 2 pig rounds were i tried the 4 rbt trap challenge and decided to go for adept too. First was with the iri addon that put all traps on survivor at the beginning but didn't count towards the challenge 😜.

And this is again why i main oni. Most people don't hate or even like him, especially since i don't slug.

idk how you can be that much negative without any points unless you are 10years old pretending adult
braindead negativity not gonna help them anyway
contents of one game eventually depleted no matter what, least this game gonna survive longer than elden ring

Yeah,BHVR are easy to read, its obvious they do this just to make players log in at least.
They only care about money to the point, they want to put the least amount of effort for the most rewards, this shows me they dont really care about their own game or community, they only care about how much money they make out of it,they're not a passionate game developer company that actually cares about their product.
They showed us this time and time again,if they really cared,a lot of issues the game has would have been fixed a long time ago.

This game is already brain dead. Since they started changing HUD, maps and everything else

So right! Take all my ++++ exactly, they care only about money so yeah... And another question, does anyone use all those thousands off useless charms???
1 -
The only charms worth using are the animated hook ones.
And for survivor are the ones that are bigger and bright.
80% of all charms is useless filler.
1 -
I can safely say I've never noticed what charms a survivor is using, except just ot see a bright colour when they try to crouch in a corner.
Hook ones are alright, I equip them if they match the killer but I don't go out of my way to care about them.

I notice the pride charm basically all the time. That's it.

Mad about free stuff
3 -
Exactly my thoughts when I've seen this event, too bad, i will just open get the shards and close the game right after
0 -
When i said i wanted more events, i meant stuff like the hallowed blight event. Logging in to claim a reward is not what i call an event. Its lazy.

Some people are happy with this, some do not care. I'm not sure what your point is.
I've spread the news about the current event to my not-playing-anymore friends and some of them will login every day to get the bonus.
That being said I'm almost disappointed the new chapter looks so unsuccessful. (No, I'm not playing Sadako anymore either)
