Scp 106 chapter concept

Sorry about the long read i tried to section things well and put TLDRs for each section(note this is NOT a chapter prediction or idea for the anniversary chapter)

TLDR: Scp is an incredibly good option for dbd and even if this concept isnt great the idea of 106 or scp as whole absolutely is worth considering

Preface: I think scp 106 is an incredibly great option for dbd as scp in general is a great option for dbd. One, the community is likely right in the sweet spot of size where it wouldn't be too predictable but would still get plenty of hype. Two, scp is entirely creative commons other than one image of an unrelated scp making it likely absurdly easy to license likely with or without the connection to containment breach specifically. 106 definitely seems like the best choice out of all the common scps due to being easier to implement than many others and fitting the best stylistically. Even if this specific concept may not be the best I still hope 106 and scp as a whole is considered and if it is considered that it is done in a way where  it is both balanced and as close as possible to feeling like the scp which i think is entirely possible to do.

The Old man(scp 106):

Movement speed: 4.4m/s (110%)

Terror Radius: 24m

Height: average

TDLR: a power that lets the old man enter the pocket dimension and bring survivors with him slowing the game down and disrupting teams greatly

Power: Pocket Dimension: Pressing the active ability button while on any surface will allow the old man to slowly sink into it and enter into the pocket dimension; pressing the button again will bring him out of the dimension. The old man is undetectable for 3 seconds after switching dimensions. Unlike other powers, this ability can be activated while carrying a survivor taking them with the old man to the corresponding dimension. The wiggle timer for the survivor will be paused during the animation and for a second afterward.

In the pocket dimension:

  • The pocket dimension entirely mimics the normal map but has a different texture over all objects similar to the pocket dimensions in containment breach and secret lab as well as perhaps some additional fog effects limiting view distance for survivors
  • All intractable objects(gens, chests, hooks, pallets and even crows) are in both dimensions simultaneously(crows will be scared in both dimensions, gens will maintain progress in both dimensions, etc.)
  • The old man becomes much faster at 6.0m/s (150%) and he leaves a trail of decay where he is outside of the pocket dimension
  • Survivors in the pocket dimension are hindered(-5%) and oblivious and their blood trails glow
  • Aura reading is blocked across dimensions for survivors (other than the auras of downed and hooked survivors) but not for the old man the same goes for distance based perks like whispers and prove thyself
  • All hooks outside of the pocket dimension have a portal to the pocket dimension under them and in the pocket dimension
  • The basement has a portal to exit the pocket dimension.
  • The exit gates and hatch also have exit portals once opened as survivors cannot leave the trial in the pocket dimension
  • Gen progress and hook timers are both slowed in the pocket dimension by 25%

(Likely the easiest way to implement this is to likely just use visual effects and intangibility and invisibility sortof like freddy + spirit instead of loading 2 versions of the same map this would likely require a lot of effects the be in play at once but i still dont think it would be too insane)

Passive ability: Intangible: The old man can walk through walls, pallets, and other vaulting locations with heavily slowed movement (1.6m/s) (can still be pallet stunned)

(The gameplay would most often likely be ambush based using the ability to appear at will and walk through walls to catch survivors off guard and then either hit and run or follow them through any obstacles to get the second hit slowing the game down greatly by forcing 2 people into the pocket dimension [the downed survivor and an unhooker])

TLDR: Three perks that help ambush survivors, get follow-up hits, and slow things down a bit

Perks:

  • Cries of the wounded: Injured survivor’s cries are 15/20/25% louder and you immediately gain one stack of bloodlust when chasing an injured survivor
  • Squelched steps: Your terror radius is reduced by 6/9/15m when not in LOS of a survivor
  • Scourge hook: No Man’s Land: When a survivor is unhooked from a scourge hook they are mangled and all other survivors receive a 5/7/10% hindered penalty until the mangled survivor is healed

TLDR: Various potential addons based around tracking survivors better and slowing them down

Addon ideas:

  • Anomalous Gas Mask: allows the old man to switch dimensions 100% faster but no longer receive the undetectable status once finished switching
  • Trench Foot: Survivors receive the mangled effect after being in the pocket dimension for 10 seconds
  • Severed hand: basic attacks in the pocket dimension apply deep wounds to healthy survivors
  • Barbed Wire: Survivors will receive the mangled effect after 15 seconds in the pocket dimension and the broken effect after 15 seconds of having mangled while in the pocket dimension(reverts to mangled upon leaving the pocket dimension)
  • Red Dot Recorder: Receive killer instinct when within 8m of a survivor in the opposite dimension

(addons meant to be a combinations of mutilation, anomalous objects/scp references, and references to proposed backstories namely the young man and the stand-alone tale red reality)

TLDR: two mori ideas using references to containment breach and scp 106 tales

Mori(s): The Old man could have 2 moris(one for each dimension):

  •  In pocket dimension: the old man grabs the survivor by their face and forces them to kneel after telling them to do so and leaks mucus from his hand corroding their face. He then reaches his other hand into their abdomen by making it intangible and grabs an organ. He then pushes the survivor backwards with the hand on their face while maintaining grasps on the organ, eventually ripping it out and forcing the survivor all the way back into a portal behind them, dropping the body into the normal dimension. He then tosses the organ through the portal as well.
  • Outside pocket dimension: The old man grabs the survivor from behind and forces them on their knees and sticks their head into a portal before pulling them out now partially decomposed but still alive. He then forces back in but  only leaving part of their legs out, the leverage point being the middle of their femurs. He then press on both sides of their femurs until they break before letting survivor fall all the way through the portal

(both moris would likely have deep gargled laughing throughout)

TLDR: a few ideas that I didn't go with that radically changed things incase my decision to not use them was wrong

Unused/Changed Aspects:

  • Originally the old man wasn't able to use aura reading across dimensions and the anomalous gas mask addon allowed him to do so
  • Originally the old man couldn't walk through things in the pocket dimension and could instead walk along walls and could stay on the wall when switching dimensions but this seemed difficult to implement for little to no use other than slight confusion and disorientation for survivors
  • An alternate option for the old mans power would be that instead of having preset portal locations, the old man would create portals whenever he swapped dimensions but this seemed both over and under powered based on the circumstance and potentially made playing him too complicated as he now had a form of map manipulation to play around while he has to effectively traverse 2 maps

TLDR: the survivor could be the d class from containment breach or an entirely new character

Survivor: a potential survivor was admittedly less thought about than the killer but one option, if connecting things to containment breach doesn't hinder licensing, would be D-9341; however, it could just as easily be an entirely new researcher, d class, or even mtf or security guard. The only thing it probably shouldn't be is one of the named characters that are well known through many scp tales as these tend to often be more legend than person and likely wouldn't really fit as a survivor. If it were to be D-9341 he would likely have perks based his anomalous respawn ability like seeing the auras of various things at the start of the trial as if he lived and died in the exact same trial moments before and some ability to help avoid falling to the same fate multiple times in a row

TLDR: The map would likely be entrance zone or heavy containment and would hopefully be made to NOT be like midwich or the rpd corridors

Map: the main map options would probably be entrance zone( where gates could actually be the exit gates) and heavy containment (the most atmospherically dangerous zone of the game) or perhaps even a multistory combination of both. The main challenge would likely be the narrow corridors making it annoying to navigate and travers like midwich and parts of rpd and the potential for too many god pallets but good enough use of rooms and wider forks and corners in between most hallways making it almost grid like instead of tunnel like could make it still a fun map sortof like lerys
