Is There Something In The Water?
4 Games in a row have been nurse so far today. I know she is an easy 4k but doesn't she get boring? I would not be able to main her its too easy of a game playing as her. There really isn't a challenge. I know people say she is hard to learn but I picked her up too fast man. I do not see the difficulty in her. But geez survivor is super boring today.

Oh yeah I had a bottle of water after my running just now and it tasted bitter. Odd we’re having the same problem.

Shouldn't be drinking that well water. 😏

She'd been disabled for a long time and her range addons are currently bugged, so everybody wants to abuse them while they last.

After the some of the players I've been having recently you can bet your ass I'm playing Nurse and Pyramid Head
1 -
Nope.
I'm sick of losing 3 gens in 1 chase.
3 -
I thought you were having fun playing as Sadako
1 -
I am having lots of fun as Sadako. Sadako is not Wraith, Bubba, Myers, Billy, Freddy, or Doctor, all of whom I've also been playing (some for dailies, some for memes, and Billy for the archives). And as you know, if you see a killer that isn't using 4 meta perks, it's obviously the time where you BM, yell slurs in endgame, and overall be a dick to someone daring to try and 12 hook instead of immidiately tunneling someone.
Also I got Eyerie of Crows as her quite literally 9 times yesterday, so I'm afraid of playing her because if I get it a 10th time I will genuinely uninstall.
Moreover, notice how I said "players" not "survivors". You, I'm sure, can empathise on the solo queue experience (except tonight has been quite bad on the slur front). Because survivor is a genuine hellscape filled with nothing but anger and all my friends have quit because of it leaving me no choice but to solo, I'll be returning to killer and playing Nurse and Pyramid Head.
Sadako doesn't have all perks unlocked, after all.

It happens.
Once I got matched against 6 Ghostfaces in 8 games. All different players.
1 -
I would argue that lately the game became really killer sided, as a solo survivor against meta perk Nurse/Blight you have no chance.
The lost players are probably survivors are leaving the game.
Dont get me wrong m1 killers also in bad place, and that also wrong, survivors demolish them.

Yeah there's something in the water, it's the blood of all the other killers needlessly hit by the nerf bat.
2 -
she was kill switched for a while. I don't play a lot of her but even I hit up a few games in a row yesterday as Nurse because I haven't had the option to for a while.
She's not an auto 4k, she's just a varied enough killer that is strong because most players are too braindead to switch it up and figure out how to avoid her.

I honestly wonder how much of this game's issues retaining newer players is directly caused by the developers' 'pro trash talk' stance...
1 -
There's a difference between trash talk and slurs, we've been through this.
3 -
You honestly don't think that encouraging one isn't going to contribute to making the other happen more often?
2 -
idk how "ggez git gud" and racial slurs go hand in hand but if you can make that link then go for it
0 -
From what I can tell it's one of the leading issues that is making it so hard to retain players.
1 -
Sure.
*Cracks knuckles*.
There is a distinctive frame of mind online that certain words, including slurs, have a different meaning when used in the content of gaming (more of a plain insult, ala 'smack talk').
Now, whether this belief is correct or incorrect, or whether I agree with this stance is somewhat immaterial - because it certainly exists.
You can most clearly see this in older Youtube/Twitch streams before they cracked down, and even now usage crops up from time to time - particularly in the Fortnite or COD communities.
Thus, encouraging smack talk is directly going to lead to the increased use of slurs. Whether you think that specific racialized terms can be used as a generalized expletive or insult or not, quite a lot of people do.
Now, you can certainly attempt to encourage smack talk while still actioning these terms - but you're still going to have them used more than if you just told your playerbase to manner the hell up.

Definitely not an easy 4k if the survivors know what they're doing

Only on Nurse have I ever felt true freedom to run whatever perks I wanted.

That's me on Artist and Demo.

It's directly the reason I can't get any of my friends to stick with DbD. They can handle the getting stomped while they learn the game; it's the people trying to make them miserable for being new they can't stand.
1 -
Ditto.
I've tried to get quite a few people into this game, but when they start asking me about it, two things tend to be deal-breakers.
- The monstrous initial grind.
- Just how utterly nasty this community can be.
I remember watching Otz teach a new player how to survivor (a really endearing, wholesome series actually) and her running into an utterly foul person, which really shook her up.
You shouldn't need an elephant hide to enjoy a videogame in 2022.
2 -
100% true. Other games where the developers discourage smack talk have a much better new player experience for that very reason. I've read more negative comments about farming from a developer of Dbd than people trying to make the gaming experience miserable for other players.

Her range addons are bugged? I guess that explains a lot of why I feel her more oppressing than usual.
