Sbmm

I've been playing a bunch of survivor lately and I kid you not 90% is blight, nurse and hag with busted add ons and busted perks. This morning I played against the same hag player 4 times in a row with busted add ons and proxy camping so against the hag you trade or don't bother unhooking. The win conditions for the mmr is just having the worse effect in this game. I won't even start with boons that's another problem but this sbmm has utterly ruined the dbd experience that wasn't prefect but at least fun. Unfortunately bhvr won't read this little post nor will they admit they are wrong to implement sbmm but maybe I would hope they could chance the win conditions to include chases and the amount of hooks you get. Sick of seeing nurses and blights now to be honest

It's no fun at all now. And I'm constantly getting matches against killers who are wrecking me within seconds, my friend and I haven't escaped for ages and yet we're still going up against killer players who are clearly way better than us.

Now, I do have to say that I don't particularly care about escaping, I would rather take a couple fun chases and bunch of bloodpoints than run out of the door...but I'm not even getting that! I guess I just gotta get good again 😂

And when I play killer...DAMN! Survivors are WAY out of my skill range even though I haven't played killer in months! I just don't get it.

No salt, just my experience sadly. And yet I'm still addicted to this game ffs.

SBMM let the competent players all rise to the top where they just compete with other very competent players. This leads to either sucking it up, what not everyone wants to do, or to weeding out the weak, ie only the top meta being played, leading to all the Nurses and Blights and probably Hags at the top.

This game didn't need a hardcoded competitive szene, people who want to do that organize among themselves and set up rules to make the game somewhat balanced, ie only one DH per side etc. But SBMM has soured so many players dbd experience, mine included. With my good killers I cant play anymore unless I am prepared to sweat to the max, and frankly, I don't want to do that. No other multiplayer game that I know of punishes players for being good THIS hard!

So my options are now to either play survivor, which I do much more of late, or to smurf my killers into oblivion ... how fun for everyone involved.

So, as much as you never wanted to, pleeeeeease split the game into two modes, ranked and casual. The up to 2million BP and rift cosmetics is already quite the incentive to play ranked, but if I just want to knock back and play a few fun games, please lemmy do this, too.

You're seeing Hags? Wow. The last time I played against one was I kid you not 2021. That's bonkers. All I'm getting is Huntress, Blight, and sometimes a Bubba. I'd be elated to see a hag.

SSBM got announced in September of 2021, and it's no secret that the player base has been nosediving since then, though I can't say that correlation equals causation. There's probably a multitude of reasons at work why we're bleeding off players, and those that decide to stay around just adapt to the different ways of playing the game. I don't think basing matchmaking rank solely on escapes / kills is a good idea either. They are not really a good indicator of overall skill either.

But all that is a moot discussion anyways, since DBD is not a competitive game to begin with. It was never meant to be a competitive game, so treating it as such is a folly.
