Yes, this game is survivor sided
Before anyone start complaining hear me out.
I often read discussions on here on wether this game is killer sided or survivor sided. In my opinion it's clearly in the favor of survivors but it's supposed to be this way. Let me explain.
Dead by Daylight is a asymmetrical game so when it comes to balancing it's not like CS or other symmetrical games. To fill up one Lobby in Dead by Daylight you need one killer and four survivors. So you need four times as many players to play as survivor than you need players to play as killer.
Because of that you need to make the game more appealing to survivors since you matches are 80% survs.
This still doesn't mean they should just neglect killers and the overall game health. Many of you know there are many more points that play into this and a lot of things need to be changed on both sides when looking at the game and how it is at this point.
Just wanted to know what you think of this since that's a point I rarely see in any discussion thread.

You didn’t explain why it’s survivor sided though. All you did was say “since 80% of the players are survivors, we know the devs only care about them.”

It's much easier to say "game is 90% survivor sided because only 10% of killers are actually viable against equally skilled survivors", same can be said to maps also.

It is survivor sided IF the survivors know what they are doing. If every lobby was filled with skilled players most killers would have zero chance as the game is clearly balanced around new/casual players. Killers need to be strong in a 1v1 as the game is obviously a 4vs1 and survivors are given so many resources and perks to help it can become quite unfair if those survivors are on comms and are experienced on top of that.
Most survivors are average to bad which makes playing killer tolerable but I think we have all played many killer games where it feels like it is just hopeless as gens go so fast and every survivor knows how to give you a hard time.
Obviously SWF just makes this problem even worse for killers and can make for a pretty miserable time. Though as killer you probably win more often than not, the experiences where you feel hopeless tend to stick in your mind longer and even more so when the survivors are toxic and go out of their way to make your experience unfun

That's just an excuse for the Devs to keep doing what they are doing
Survivors do get more cosmetics cause that's what they are... There's nothing gameplay wise that makes Survivors unique
Killers have to deal with up to 16 perks plus Items and addons and the Survivors only have to deal with 4 plus addons... Plus being in a SWF group means comms

So what about the Hillbilly, Spirit, Pinhead, Wraith changes

Sabo has been nerfed so that hooks respawn almost instantly. There is like half as many pallets as used to be. Leatherface always finding you in dead zones.
Circle of healing nerfed hard, Boil Over nerfed into non-existence. Dead Man Switch buffed to be broken. Pinhead and Wraith is still very very strong.

Sabo was nerfed on that front but what about the time it takes to Sabo... 2.5 seconds
There's more pallets on certain Maps (The Game) but the placement of those pallets have changed
COH wasn't nerfed hard... If it were then it'd be the same as Self Care maybe even worse
Boil Over was buffed to far and was brought back... but it's still strong
DMS is only "broken" when used with SH:PR... So only that combo but that only means 15% loss of progress that can be repaired in a snap

It's really not as survivor sided as people make it out to be.
Most of the time when a killer gets blown away by a "sweaty 4 man", that killer shouldn't have been in that match in the first place. A lobby with 10k+ hrs on survivor *should* be a problem for most players. But a killer who is actually good at the game with a few thousand hrs will do just fine.
There's an availability problem due to queue imbalances, but that doesn't necessarily indicate a problem with the killer role.

Gen tapping,
2 gens are done before you manage to get 1 down on most m1 killers.
Sometiems a gen is done before you even find anyone.
Too many second chance perks coh included force most killers to just camp and defend a 3gen.
If you match 4 equally skilled survivors at the same level as the killer they will out pressure the killer.

Truth be told isn't really only high mmr and beyond survivor sided I actually wouldn't know because I'm a average player

the game is too advantageous survivor perk + map, not to mention the teams on discord (discord = cheat) which makes killer perks unusable like Hex: The Third Seal

And you're certain that's the only reason people don't play killer as much? There's a social aspect to survivor that isn't there for killer. The gaming with friends aspect isn't there on killer. If I'm just looking to chill and game with friends in the evening, I'm certainly not clicking on killer. Doesn't make killer weak or even hard 90% of the time. Just means I want to play a role that doesn't require my undivided attention at times and lets me play with friends.

Yes, I have never played an asymmetrical horror which was more survivor sided than dbd.
The game popular because of survivor bias, but the killer role is so weak I have no words.
Actually maybe VHS could be even worse, the monster there is the worst joke I have ever seen.
HSHS buffed the killers, survivors left in thousands.

I mostly played survivor for years. I still dabbled in killer and have a few characters at level 50 with decent builds. Queue times for survivor at the time I can play are now quite long so I hopped back over to killer and have been trying to put some consistent effort into it for about a month.
I know people will say that a month is not that long, but I still think it’s long enough to realise that there are serious issues with the killer side of the game. I know people will say “just quit if you don’t like it” or to go back to survivor- but I do actually like the idea of being killer. I want to get better. And I want to have good matches. I want to actually spend my money on other killers I don’t currently have but my actual enjoyment of the killer experience prevents me from doing so. Plus I’m not even convinced how viable they would be to play. I’d probably have to grind for the same old boring perks that are required to even stand a chance.
It’s not even about “winning”. It’s about having balanced matches. I’m experienced enough to know when survivors are new or just bad and I honestly don’t feel good when I stomp these teams, even when I try to ease up. Yet, why do I get the feeling that most experienced survivors (especially teams) really enjoy the potential for bullying and degradation towards killers this game allows them.
I can’t really be bothered giving out my ideas for what I think the game needs as from lurking on the forum for years they’ve already been thrown out there many times over- whenever I google an issue I’m having as killer a thread appears from 2019 or 2020 lol so these are not new issues. They’re well known at this point and seemingly willingly ignored. All I can say is that I can see how this game will continue to lose players if things carry on like this.

If a killer is genuinely struggling game after game in public matches of DbD then they need to improve. This is a case of git gud.

Most of the killer's perks influence the gameplay of all 4 survivors, so those perks can even make useless survivor perks.
Also, survivors might get more cosmetics? Maybe so, but it's also true that there are more survs than killers though.
I think blaming the devs for everything is pointless.

I also think the game is survivor sided but I just find one reason to believe so: maps have more resources for survivors than killers.
Survivors have windows, pallets, lockers, boon totems in case, chests, the hatch in case... (and also, they are four)
In the maps, killers only have the basement, hex totems in case and unique interaction objects (ex: Sadako's TVs, Huntress' Locker hatchets, Trickster's Locker knives, Plague's fountains and many more)
So I think Killers need proper add-ons and abilities to balance those survivor eases (ex: blocking windows, pallets, hex totems and so)

Seeing the game as survivor sided or killer sided is looking at it too simply.
This is an asymetrical game. It can never be as simple as "this one team is stronger than the other team".
Rather than two, I'd say there are around four groups.
Top tier killers and SWF are stronger than lower tier killers and solo queue.
A Blight or nurse with the strongest addons and willing to play "dirty" is going to win the vast majority of their games. They are extremely overpowered compared to lower tier killers and solo queue survivors.
An SWF is the same. Very imbalanced when up against the bottom two groups.
They should either nerf the top two groups (swf and top tier killers) or buff the bottom two groups (solo queue and low tier killers).
People saying "NERF SURVIVORS!", or even the ones saying "NERF KILLERS!" just don't get it. Both sides have enough overpowered and underpowered parts to them that they need to be viewed as different groups entirely.

Conversely, survivor is always going to be the more popular role because it's more chill and you can play with your friends. Whereas killer is inherently more stressful and you need killers for the game the function so their experience should be less hostile.

I don't think its survivor sided unless you have four good SWF players talking to each other. Most of the time killers lose because of mistakes that they make.

Playing soloq is already a strategical mistake, of course game will favor opponent if one side makes extreme mistake like that.
