Yes, this game is survivor sided

Well - the game is not only high mmr though is it? Do you believe streamers accounts for the largest part of this community? In that case - look at Otz 😂

Yeah, that's the reason why nurse is the weakest killer and she should be buffed, right?

I actually believe this game is pretty balanced. At least as balanced as a game like this can be.
We don’t need every killer to be just as powerful as the other one.
Nurse is bad for beginners and Godlike for veterans who has learned her.
Wraith is good for beginners but struggles vs experienced players.
This is how the game should be.

the game is so survivor sided it’s not even funny

If a survivor learned to play then most killer has no answer. It's like 2 killer viable against good survivors.

IF this game had a working matchmaking that doesn't excuse itself everytime queue times get a little too long.
But it doesn't so you can pick nurse as "pro" and expect pro survivor for a hard right tbut instead stomp on noobs or you pick wraith as a beginner and hope for other beginner but instead get curb stomped by aforementioned veteran survivors.
Both not fun in addition that killer is already more mentally demanding/exhausting than survivor for the majority.

I don't believe one side is more OP than the other. It's all about context:
A P3 Nurse with 2k hours in the game with OP addons and a decent perk build will likely annihilate most survivors they go against.
On the other hand, a SWF of decent survivors will likely give most killers a miserable time because of their advantage of comms.
Finally, you can play solo queue as an average/mid-tier survivor and get matched with similar skill-level survivors/killer, but get absolutely destroyed because most of your team are self-caring in the corner of the map, or are searching chests/cleansing dull totems instead of doing gens. On the flip side, you can get a group of baby solo queue survivors who don't stand a chance against even an average level Nurse/Blight, or a group of experienced solo survivors who spend the game antagonizing and making it an all-round miserable experience for a baby killer.
I guess my ultimate point is, this game is asymmetrical and it's not as simple as "survivor or killer sided". There are far too many factors that come into play here. Also, I don't think people discuss enough how it's SBMM that's creating this divide, not one side being OP. Think of it like this: you're an average killer but SBMM keeps matching you with SWF/experienced survivors... of course, you're going to say it's survivor-sided. Alternatively, you're a solo queue player and have three matches in a row with prestige Ruin/Undying Blights... you're going to say the game is killer-sided. I'm not naïve enough to say that each side don't come without their own problems and each side has stuff that needs buffing/nerfing... but the issue here is SBMM.

Why does that matter ? The interesting thing about human beings is they have the ability to learn and get better. mmr is in the game to sort the good killers and keep them away from bad survivors, giving them a chance to learn the game and improve. It does the balancing for you!
So sick of people bringing up the terrible argument That bad people are bad and that the dev's should cater to them like they won't get better or there isn't a skill sorting system attempting to be added to the game.
You also don't need the finest decision making or skill set to win as survivor either.. you already have the numbers and resources. It all comes down to holding m1 on a gen or wasting time and getting your team killed.

Totally agree with you. Sums up a big problem this game has!

My point matters because there is no correct or 100% objective answers to the question "Which side is the strongest?". I think all these threads pretty much shows that.

You don't think tournaments are evidence?
You really think a clown or wraith is going to win against equally skilled survivors?
1 -
Tourneys are not a good example in general because they have their own scoring/win conditions that differ from the "official" win condition from mmr.
Also, yes - they can. If we take a tourney as an example:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q9Q4eTJOOFg - first match from swish's tourney starting at 9:11, Wraith 4k'ed
1 -
Oh wow.. even for tournament standards that seemed quite restricted to favour the killer as much as possible. No COH, no Dead Hard, no items. Did they ban all meta perks or something?
2 -
No.
First of all, using a tournament is the WORST EXAMPLE, because they're literally the best of the best survivors.
Of course, if all 4 survivors are EXTREMELY top tier, then it's survivor sided. BUT THAT'S NOT EVERY SINGLE GAME.
Second, people should play more survivor. And specifically, I'm talking about solo or duo.
I absolutely hate it when killers talk about survivor being easy (it's stressful to me) and act like they play survivor.
Like, do you really play survivor? If yes: At least 3 or 4+ hours per-day? With an extremely competent swf? Solo? Playstyle? Blendette?
The saying really goes both ways. "Do you play [opposite side]?!"
Personally, I don't really think this game is survivor sided. If anything, it's becoming more killer sided.
This is why I had quit well over a year ago. Boons brought me back though. Yes, I do main survivor, cry about it.
This game is only survivor sided if all 4 survivors are top-tier competitive level survivors.
2 -
The only way to reliably findd out would be to have several large tournaments with the best players where survivors and killers can use whatever perks, items and addons they want, and see what the results indicate.
If I were to bet money on it I’d say the game is survivor sided though.

This game is only survivor sided if all 4 survivors are top-tier competitive level survivors.
Yeah, against also top tier competitive killer players and most often under (heavy) restrictions in tournaments.
So without restrictions and presuming a working matchmaking (which we don't have and still makes talking about balancing without any form of fix point useless) 4 average survivor still would have the tools to easily beat an also average killer player.
Hence the toolset given by the game still is sided towards the survivor. The only reason that not every game is heavily survivor sided is both sides inexperience and that when both parties have absolutely no clue what their doing killer is build to come out on top. Otherwise there wouldn't be any new killer players since they don't have the "play with friends" aspect as an incentive to keep playing.

This, having 90% win rate on nurse and not going against swf often is what surprises me the most, when you would think these top swf teams would always go against 1% highest win rate killer players very often.
1 -
That is so ridiculous. Why should CoH be worse than Self-Care? When you waste years trying to find a totem to bless it, you could already heal with self-care. It has too much counterplay. What good is sabo when the killer walks right past the broken hook because there is another hook 10 meters away? How often do you see someone sabo?
The Game map is the only one with some pallets, however most of them are very unsafe.
If Boil Over was useful, you would see it used.
You admitted DMS is broken so why is it not being nerfed? That right there is proof the game is killer sided.
1 -
By your logic we should balance the game around tournaments? Smart. Balance around 1% of your player base.
Your second point is exactly my point in an earlier post. A skilled Wraith or Clown are most likely not going to win vs a team of skilled survivors. A newer Wraith or Clown can easily win vs a team of new survivors.

agree.. always premade against me.. no way. if 4ppl want to play get a killer and do that..
we got 4 keys and one at console. nowdays only 1 account is useing.
this game matchmaking value is unbeliveable..
0 -
Then why do you want them to balance around new players?
0 -
I don’t.
I want them to try and balance around as many players as possible. Like they are trying to.
0 -
You can't... and that's why this game usually has a wait time for survivor que vs killers getting instant lobbies. Anything you add to help the bad players is abused by the experienced players.
1 -
A 4 man very experienced, sweaty SWF vs. new killer playing casually.
I could easily find a video of an experienced Blight slugging everyone at 5 gens. <- This happens way more often.

That match was an extreme outlier. It is not really fair to nerfs boon perks because the killer got outplayed. They could have had the same outcome if they didn't use boon perks. Boon perks do nothing for chasing. Besides CoH, they are extremely situational. Even Power Struggle has a better chance of being used and that is a sad low probability.
0 -
Gotta agree, Boons suck, but thanks to COH they can't be buffed.
1 -
I agree with that and I do see the problem, but nonetheless - I believe that if you balance the game around the tier players it will be more devastating for newer players.
If the game was "bigger" you could make an argument for ranked and casual game modes.
0 -
No. You balance around the top 30% and let sbmm do the balance work. That's what it's for... To put good against good and bad against bad. Then when the bad get good and figure out what to do they still have a decent game to play instead of an unbalanced mess.
0 -
Well, as we know - SBMM does not work as intended because it prefers short queue times over actual skillrating.
0 -
Which IS INTENDED (by the devs to please the masses at the expense of the minority) but still stupid. As ridiculous as it sounds.
0 -
I play only solo survivor, so it isnt the social aspect for me. Yet i refrain from playing killer that much, because killer games are quite horrible, both do to gameplay mechanics as well as toxic survivors.
So it might not be the only reason, but it is a reason.
0 -
Yup. I'd rather wait a minute then to play an unbalanced game.
Sadly - the queue times needs to be held down because that is a reason for a lot of people to not play this game.

Please fix game survivor sided.
