Why Does Someone Else's Mistake Make You Lose MMR?
So, I just played a game where I rescued a survivor from the hook with BT, but the killer caught up to us. So I went to try and jump a nearby pallet, but the survivor I just rescued ran in front of me causing me to get hit twice by the killer because I was blocked between the survivor and the killer, then when I tried to jump the pallet I got hit again.
So then, the killer hooked me, someone opened the gate, and then the killer proxy camped me until I died on hook.
Technically I lose MMR because I died. 1st time on hook due to the mistake of another survivor. I guess I just don't understand how someone else's mistake causes me to lose MMR. I run into these issues all the time. I hate to be selfish, but in order for me to win, I'm going to have to.
But I was just wondering why I am punished for trying to save someone, who got selfish and blocked me between them and the killer so I take the hits when I used BT... I just don't get it.
Anyone have thoughts on this? Should I just play selfishly in solo queue?

Nearly everyone plays selfish and its disappointing.
I still dont get why I lose MMR when I'm clearly placed on a team made to loose. But sometimes the game expects you to do 5 gens, loop the killer all game and escape...
The SBMM is a joke, simple as that tbh

First - it is a team game - even if you are in Solo Q.
If you really want higher MMR (for what really?) then play selfish if you have to.
Second - No, the game only expects you to escape - that is skillful - all else is just your problem.

Well I just played 'skillfully' and I'm finally winning. Shouldn't have to lose every single match because someone else makes a mistake.

The same reason that someone else's great play can save you?

Never get hooked unless I save others who apparently don't know what BT does.
So why bother saving others if it's going to get me hooked? I'll be busy skulking around looking for gens and totems to work on.

If i get saved by BT i am not blocking the killer with it unless he played toxic.
Wait until the killer is gone or u kiss the ground

I love losing mmr because the randoms leave me on first hook to die while my swf teammate is being chased across the map. I'd rather matchmaking match me with other team players and have the anti-teamwork players get matched together instead of who escaped/died recently.

Killer was busy chasing someone else. But saw the unhook and came our way instead. Like I said, player blocked me between them and the killer because they went foe the same pallet I was going for to get away. Other survivor I unhooked just blocked me in front of the pallet. Not my fault they didn't take a protection hit or let me get the pallet. But you all keep telling me I'm not a skilled player, so I'll just not unhook survivors. Caee solved.

It's not just about losing MMR. I keep getting matched with players who don't know what they are doing in this game because I end up saving them and get left to die on first hook.
I just don't understand why MMR is a thing that keeps me stuck with crappy players in solo and I don't have a SWF anyways. I want higher mmr to get out of this loop of unskilled survivors.

Please don't play selfish. It is the bane of selfish q already.
Trust many of us appreciate you coming back for us

It's a team format and once a survivor dies it's easier for the rest to die. You can't control your teammates. When it hits late game and you're in a position to weigh that decision you gotta decide "Do i go for a save, do I distract, do I get go for gate...?" You gotta weigh your decisions throughout the match (playing killer or survivor) and that's just something you do constantly in this game.

Hiding all game while everyone else does gens, saves etc and you have the luck of getting the gate and leaving, isnt skillful.

I mean that's the "meta" right (playing selfishly)
DH- DS are selfish perks IMO (granted Exhaustion perks are there for a reason... and DS has deactivation conditions)
BT is a good team perk but now other Survivors expect that perk to be ran even if they don't use it

It just does.

because survivor is a team oriented role. stop obsessing over your MMR, its not worth it.

Do you know how many times I see that from the red light at your back?
It's both hilarious and sad.

It's not team oriented when I'm stuck with survivors who don't know how to take a protection hit or won't let me jump a pallet, then leave me on hook to die from first hook.
Almost every single game the past month I have been getting matched with survivors that don't know what they're doing.
So I'll play how I want, even if it makes no sense just to be able to play with others who know how to play.

If you have it that often i would go for a Hatch build and try to escape at the end.

I decided to go with a gen rush/stealth build and won 3 games in a row without needing to use the hatch.... And lost my 4th match to a Pig being the last one to get hooked and almost made it to hatch. They aren't hard to find. But that's better than losing almost every single match like I have been because nobody else wants to be take a risk or be altruistic. I guess if that's how MMR works, then I need to play this way to balance out and get to play with those in my same skill set. Sucks leaving people on the hook but gotta look out for me first.

play how you want but then dont complain that the system doesn't favor you.
2 -
Dont get me wrong, i am not saying you are unskilled or anything like that.
I also ubderstand your frustration with the randoms and certein killers.
Its just that i try to make the game fun for everyone aslong as they are not toxic and since i play both sides i know the pain of seeing a unhook, killer trying to go for the one who UNHOOKED but the one who GOT UNHOOKED is blocking him with BT but then goes suprised pikachu mode when he gets tunneled
They just asked for it.
And it happens so many times aswell that people just unhook me the second i got hooked so no way i am taking a hit then.
Anyway, i understand your frustation but please keep playing nice for EVERYONE.
Dont ruin the experience for possible innocent players, i know its hard but they deserve better just like us.

Sorry bro that wasn't a mistake it meant he escaped so its a skilled play.
