Using the term "Boring"

So I have noticed this term used alot in conversations on this forum. When people use it what i think they are really saying is "I do not like it" or "I dont know what to do against it". I saw someone write a post and they say NOED is boring. How is NOED boring? I find it to be exciting to try and find or getting chased by someone you know has NOED.

People say a lot of stupid things.

You really wonder why some are playing this game in the first place.

before i would agree "boring" gets used a lot for "i do not like" but now "boring" get used more accurately since well a lot players are using the same builds, playing the same way, the same flow and repeat. we are this l----l close to bingo sheets.

When I talk about boring killers, I mean that the interaction is basically zero

Trickster, nemesis, PH are all examples of boring killers because there's no input from the survivors side, it's just them either ######### up or not ######### up

I mean Its definitely applicable to meta builds ######### it's boring to go against constantly

    Not by using NOED

    Wow things have changed

Its more how its used. NOED is mainly used to secure 1 kill at the end of the game. You get one down and camp it. When that happens, yes I would say NOED is boring. I think I an end game build with NOED can be really fun, but I think I have only ever gone against a killer using that strategy once or twice. Also it depends on how often you go against it. A blight with corupt, tinker, undying, ruin is really intense and puts a lot of pressure on the survivor. But after the 10th Blight in a row runs that same build, that combination becomes predictable and therefore boring.

Boring is just the go-to when someone wants to nerf something, but can't actually come up with a valid reason to nerf it.

I find it odd how many people get triggered by the word boring.

I rarely ever see it anyways, and don't run it since it's useless. Any good survivors would have already cleansed the totems, and if not - they find it very quickly.

people tend to confuse what they feel with what the state of something is...

    You get it everywhere:

"That song is bad" meaning "I don't like it"

"He's ugly" meaning "he's not my type"

"Game is boring" meaning "I don't have fun anymore"

We need to learn to ignore people that make general statements about the state of something instead of making it a personal appreciation of how they feel about that thing.

They do, but like many other people he won’t admit it.

The forums have become a cesspool for people like that person.

Basically anything that makes a player deviate from their plan or otherwise counters their expectations is fair game for being called boring.

It could be the most electrifying play anyone has ever seen ever seen, but if it doesn't conform to someone else's expectations, it's boring. Or toxic. Or something.

I feel this is a stretch, I find many killers boring in dead by daylight but there isn't a single one I'd nerf, I would however nerf something like alchemists ring because while I find playing vs Blight incredibly fun, I find that add-on is something that makes him pretty unfun /boring to vs to Vs.

i find the twins incredibly boring to Vs, however It's pretty obvious they need some pretty substantial mechanical buffs / changes.

I've noticed "boring" is what people say when they mean "nerf or remove it." It's such a vague criticism, as what some will find boring others won't, and especially what one side finds enjoyable due to it's strength is very likely to be called boring by the other side, as the either can't or refuse to play around it.

Ie. Noed. You have plenty of opportunity to prevent it ever spawning, but choose not to, so it's 'boring.'

Most people will use "boring" as an argument when they want something nerfed or removed

Yeah a lot of players use the word boring when they come up against strategies, perks, map offerings, and for certain killers that they personally do not like. Even if the killer or survivor is playing in a fair way if anything is used against them that they find is boring they will most likely be mad in the end game chat. For example I played as Artist and my build was Ruin, Tinkerer, Pain res, and Dead mans and we went to coal tower. I run builds like these on many killers to go against the best survivors since they can be quite efficient nowadays. For the entirety of the game I would go away from hooks except for one time when I hooked a survivor right next to a gen that was 90%. I was paranoid that a survivor was around that gen so I stayed near the area. I didn’t stay close enough though since they finished the gen. So to punish them I decided to force the person in the basement to second stage. Then after that I went back to going away from hooks and ended up with a 4K. The survivors weren’t very happy about my build, that I camped one time, and that I somehow tunneled. So basically if you do or use one thing they do not like they will see you as boring.

I agree. Boring gets tossed around like people saying "Im OCD about x/y/z", even though OCD has no actual part in it.

I think it's more so the repetitive perks and playstyles for both teams. You can only go against so many Ruins/BT/NOED/DH before you start to question your level of enjoyment. Boring? no. Predictable? kinda

"Boring", just like "toxic", "oppressive" and "abusing", has lost all meaning in the DBD community. These are nothing more than empty shells tossed around.
